pondering the idea of selling the bike after this summer. It's not a easy decision. Motorcycles have been a huge part of my life since 1963.

Funny you mention that. This past weekend the wife and I were at the VJMC gathering in Blairsville, GA. Long story short, I did drop the bike on its left side in a parking lot incident - barely moving - and the wife fell splat to the ground helmet slapped the asphalt. She just got a little scratch out of the deal thank the Lord - he was watching over her - no headache at all. Not a scratch on the bike that I could find...not even a reflector out of place - the guards did their job!

We’re sorta considering the move to a trike before long. Ive never dropped the RSV, always been strong enough to catch it. Worried about the damage to me if I try to do that now.

Paul they’re leaving out a big part of the info:FOOD. Lots of good eating and a nightly run to the ice cream stand. After all many refer to us as an eating club with a motorcycle disorder.

Starter gear train help
RDawson replied to ca_mccar's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It’s been several years since I had one apart and don’t remember but the parts diagram doesn’t show one. -
Paul, this usually a small group of folks, and is a very laid back get together we talk about where we are going to ride and go. We welcome everyone no matter what you ride. Trina and I will be camped out at Vogel State park.

I hate to see this kind of talk, but I know one day it will happen but not today

We are at that point as well, sold the trailer and the 86, now it's just the Spyder to sell. 2014 asking 15k.

Hello all, im replacing the stator in my 86 Venture. When i took the cover off the starter gears fell out. I put the gears back in there place but there is a rogue washer that seems to put the splined gear shaft(with the 2 gears) Where does washer go? Do the starter gears have a washer? I checked parts diagrams but havent had any luck thank you!

I rode about 150 miles a couple weekends ago. That was my longest trip in a couple of years. Just don’t enjoy it like I used to. I’ve out Eileen’s trike and my Road Glide up for sale. Prices are down though so we’ll see.
-
Paul, It's always a good time, good riding and good food. This has been going on for nearly 20 years.
-
The wife hasn’t been on the bike since my surgery, gonna try it soon to make a decision about whether to go to Vogel this year. 150 miles has been my longest ride since being back on it.
-
I'm still riding the Venture but going to look at a Can Am Spyder Sunday for making trips with the wife. I'm planning a trip to the Northeast states soon with the Venture. I need 7 states to get all of the lower 48 on a motorcycle and I don't want to count any of them on a Trike. I don't want to stop riding just cause I've gotten old...☹️

Some camp at Vogel state park, some rent cabins at the park. Most of the others stay at seasons inn in Blairsville. The events are riding curvy roads during the day and hanging out in the evenings. There is no sign up or fee. What it cost depends on where you stay. It's just a bunch of laid back folks who like to ride and enjoy some comradery. Hope to see you there!

Ok found some pics from the 2021 Vogel here - looks like fun. Still have the same questions tho! Where do you stay? How much does it cost? How do I sign up?

Gentlemen, As a newcomer to this VentureRider.org group, I am curious to know what the heck is this Vogel thing? What events are planned? Where do you stay? How much does it cost? How do I sign up? Any and all information is appreciated! PM

Rear master cylinder

It occurred to me that you might check the rear brake caliper also. Its hidden and your leak might be there. -
Rear master cylinder
Vickersguy replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You've got a leak. That white crusty stuff in your picture is dried brake fluid. The up side is you have a master cylinder that looks to be in good condition. The rebuild kits are on e-bay for a reasonable price. Pull it, clean it, soak the circlip in oil for a day and free it up. The rebuild is a breeze. XXX steel will used gently will smooth the corrosion, if any, on the inside. A small wire brush will get the big stuff on the outside. Check the tube to the reservoir for leaks, check the o-ring on that black plastic spigot the hose connects to. Clean carefully, degrease, blow it out with compressed air and paint with rustolium or some such to protect the aluminum. You'll be good to go. You can reuse the copper seals by heating them bright orange and quenching them quickly in cold water. Let us know how it goes ! -
Haven't been riding the 89' much the last couple of years because of all the eye surgery I've had. Today the Mrs. and I went for a ride, and after using the brakes about 5-8 times, the rear pedal went almost all the way down. I stopped and looked for an obvious brake fluid leak, but everything was dry. After getting back home, I noticed that if you pump the rear lever a few times, you got some pedal. This says to me that there was air in the brake lines. I haven't had a chance to verify this because the bike needs to cool down, but how would a lot of air get into a system that had a firm pedal before. The only thing that I could figure was the master cylinder leaked air when I released the brakes. I pulled the right side tupperware and saw no wet spots, but there was crud over part of the master cylinder. Also the reservoir was filled normally about a month ago, but now I can see no fluid when I look down into it. The bolt for the front brake line is tight. Any ideas?? Frank

Heck I'm over half way packed, if it wasn't for doctor appointments my old self would go early 🤣

I agree with N3FOL, here is a link to the electrical schematic for the Royal Star Ventures, if your regulator is bad and you continue to ride you may well cook your new battery, my regulator went bad on my 2007, and it nearly made the battery blow up. It overcharged it and it swelled up to the point I almost could not remove it from bike.
