Front Brake Master Cylinder Cleaning
cimmer replied to Pop's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am not sure but I think when you remove the fluid level sensor that the wires will come out with that. I have not rebuilt my master cylinders so I am not sure. Even the service manual doesnt really explain the wires either in the master cylinders so the best bet is just to tear them down and see what you find. here is a link to the service manual to download.. https://www.venturerider.org/manuals/1986-1993 Yamaha Venture Service Manual.pdf Here is a link to the parts fiche that will show you the parts available from Yamaha .. https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042d37f8700209bc789f1f/front-master-cylinder-1 Good luck Rick F. - Today

1988 Venture Royale Throttle Cable
cimmer replied to jmueske's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hi John, so you are looking for the cable that attaches to the carbs then. Be aware the cables from the handle bars dont directly connect to the carbs but connect to a Throttle cable housing. This housing is where the two cables from the handle bars connect and the two cables from the carbs connect and the cruise control cable connect. check out this link.. https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042d37f8700209bc789f1e/handlebar-cable items 21 - 29 are the throttle cable housing.. So if you are looking for the cables that connect to the carbs directly, check out this link.. https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042d30f8700209bc789f02/carburetor-california-model Dont mind the california model carb and the non calif doesnt have an image.. but the part you are looking for is item 59 or 60.. and the good news is that yamaha is listing them as available. Personally if I was replacing one I would do both since the replacing is the hard part as you need to remove the left side fairing to access them cable housing. If you havent, down load the service manual as it will assist you in doing this if you never have done it before. go to here to down load it.. https://www.venturerider.org/manuals/1986-1993 Yamaha Venture Service Manual.pdf Check out page 3-83 in the service manual for how to install the cables correctly. I personally use Partshark.com to buy most of the my factory parts as they have a great price on them. let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.. Rick F. -
I’m thinking that the oil came from under your garage floor… there’s an oil well there just waiting for you to start drilling!🛢️🛢️🛢️

Update on the Venture engine. I changed oil today and put 3.9 quarts, OK. I put the whole gallon in, and put the used oil in the gallon jug. It filled the jug back to just below the level it was before I poured it in the engine. I figure the difference is the amount in the oil filter. This tells me it is not getting gas into the oil, which is very good news. The other side of the coin means I have no idea where the oil in the floor came from. But I know the engine is doing well so I am not going to worry about it.

1988 Venture Royale Throttle Cable
jmueske replied to jmueske's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hi Rick, many thanks for the info on Sport Wheel, I'm definitely gonna have to check this place out! The eBay link shows the wrong cable for my bike; while the handlebar end looks correct, it doesn't have this metal piece on carb end. I'm wondering if we have the wrong p/n? It needs the 2 ends shown in the pics attached. If anyone can help me out with p/n I appreciate it! It's a 1988 Venture Royal 1300. See all pics attached. - Last week

1987 VR has been sitting for a long time. I have been working on the carbs and need to fix the brakes so I can road test it. I need to clean the master cyl small holes. I would like to take the master cyl off the bike and put it in my ultra sonic cleaner. Is there a way to take the wires off so I can remove the assembly or is there another way to clean it. Thanks!

Good morning to all! Hope you are having a good start of the weekend. Today, I'll pickup my iPhone 17 Pro Max at an Apple Store 41 miles away. I am already reserved a time slot this afternoon for pickup and hopefully the wait is not too bad. I heard these iPhones are selling like pancakes. Ride safe.

1988 Venture Royale Throttle Cable
cimmer replied to jmueske's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hi John, He is one on ebay that claims to be open but unused and has all you want. https://www.ebay.com/p/1322895779, if that doesnt work and you dont mind getting dirty, Sport Wheel in Jordan Minnesota have a number of used Ventures on site and you could remove the needed cable your self and maybe cable 1 as insurance also. They have a number of parts on the bikes and they are 83-93 Ventures. Sport Wheel is on Hwy 169 between Jordan and Shakopee Minn. https://www.sportwheel.com/ Let me know if you have any question. You know where Shirley is gona stay.

No I just had them go over the chassis grease points and what I need to watch out for in maintenance.

I'm glad I found her a good home. Feels like she's still in the family. Did Hannigan give it a checkup?
-
I think that's a good option.
-
Has anyone looked into Asheville koa west for the meet up, might be an option.

Hi all, in July I rode through Bear Tooth Pass, AMAZING! Literally the day I got back home to Minnesota, my throttle cable broke! Whew, that was lucky. My local repair guy found the p/n on the oem diagram, it lists "41V-26312-00-00 Cable 2 (pull cable)". He ordered a new cable from Ebay with this p/n, but now that he's doing the repair, he found the cable doesn't come with the adjuster elbow piece (photo attached). And the new cable's terminator doesn't fit through the old adjuster elbow; because the terminator is too large to fit through. We can't put it together with what we have. Cable 1 (push) is still available from Yamaha, but Cable 2 (pull) isn't. I don't find the right cable with a web search. Does anyone know where to get this cable with the adjuster piece like the OEM diagram shows??
