Wow, how many people get to tell that tale? I've only hit a cat quite a few years ago and thought I was fortunate to have not lost it.

It would seem the faster you're going, the better your chances.

 

I've always heard (and read) that if you know you're going to hit a deer, don't brake or swerve ...

 

Thing is tho, by the time it takes for one to realize you're going to hit a deer, you've probably already hit it!

I got hit the same way on the goldwing, but the shoulder I went off of, had a drain ditch on it. the bike stopped upright, with the saddle bags, hung up on the sides of the ditch

Yes, it looks like it made the rest slow down a bit.

But did they slow down because of the deer, or just because the guy that hit the deer said he was going to go slow because he had no front brakes.

That looked alot like the way I hit one in Montana only I was doing 20mph, friggin deer ran off with 2 of my light visors stuck in it's side

Huh, had to replace my bike, but the 8 point buck lost his life!!
