  1. Don, You might want to add "ride like a pro" to our vendors that give us a discount list. I ordered their DVD for 35.99. I also included a note asking if venturerider.org gets a discount. Final price was 29.99 with shipping included. Kenw
  2. The folks at St. Jude are very dissapointed that they cannot accomodate us on Sat the 18th for a tour, they have some new facilities they wanted us to see, they wanted me to find out if we could reschedule, but I think at this late date that would be difficult for most of us who have taken vacation time to make this ride, so unless I hear otherwise from the majority making the ride, wanting to reschedule we are still on for Sat. Oct. 18, 2008. We will meet with them in their visitors pavillion which is a very nice bldg and take pictures of the presentation to them and some group shots of the group and then off for a short ride down to Tunicia, Ms. for those that want to ride. I am getting very excited about this trip and looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new members. If you are seeing this for the first time and are interested in going check out these two threads. St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial.............. - VentureRider.Org Inked for St Judes - VentureRider.Org
  3. Was wondering if anybody new the site for the goldwing version of venturerider.org Thanks:Venture:
  4. Maybe I am off base, but seems to me that either the truth ain't in Freebird or the moderators are spending more time than they should on keeping this site what it was meant to be. Not trying to start anything, just my Just for the record, I don't think it an untruth on Freebird's part. "Welcome to VentureRider.org. We are glad you are here. This site was first founded on July 21st, 2004. What started as a small group of about 100 members has quickly grown to the largest and friendliest Venture and Royal Star site on the Internet. "
  5. If you don't now me it is my fault. In 07 I purchased an 83 VR "Blondie" from an Ebay seller. The desire for a motorcycle finally won and after over 25 years I was again on two wheels - almost! The 83 needed a lot of tlc and just plain was road worthy. That's where Venturerider.org enters the picture. Through the fine postings of many of you, I begin to get the hang of my "new" ride. The one thing that was slowing me down was the braking system, actually it wasn't slowing me down! In what I thought would be a last result I found a member that lived close by and asked for help. This is how I came to know Ranya (Randy). He came to rhe house one fine Saturday on that purple beauty bringing not only parts and knowledge but friendship My wife and I could hardly believe that a stranger would give so freely of their time and talent. After a few hours my ride had brakes and more! Working through other problems it is now road worthy and is proving to be a great amount of fun and enjoyment. While the bie can stand for itself, part of the real enjoyment has come from this community we call Venturerider.org. Even though I did not ride my bikw to Asheville, upon arrival for dinner, I was made to feel "right at home". I can not rmember each and every persons name I met, but I do now this. Each on acted as if they had known me for years. Each on never teased me about caging to the event. What a great time I had! Even got to watch a stator replacement, in the dark and dirt. For those of you lie me that lurk and do not post, find a member close by and go meet them. You might just meet a new friend like I did! Thans to all of you at Asheville and to all of you here in the forum, your help and encouragement have made my renewed intrest in motorcycling an easy "comeback". Each of you ride easy and safely, my address and phone is posted on my profile, the door is open and the welcome mat is out. Steve Neal 83' VR - she may be an old blonde but she still has fun!
  6. Was in Nashville, IN today with a group. Saw 6 or 7 RSVs. Three or 4 of those were in a group together. Anyone from VentureRider.org?
  7. I've been a member of this site for about 8 months now, long enough to say what a refreshing change this site is compared to another site I use for my other motorcycle. Without specifically naming the other site, I will just say this, it is a sportbike "forum" site. I use that sight, much like I use this one, to research and find answers to questions about maintenance for my bike, and preferrences for "add-ons". The other site I have stopped being an "active member", i.e. I don't respond to any forums, I don't add any input or advise. Reason being, there are several persons on that site that feel the need to insult, ridicule, and basically be just a royal pain in the arse. There are several forums on that site that had to be locked by the site administrator because of foul language, threats, racial remarks, etc. VentureRider.org has been absolutely fantastic. I have posted several questions and/or replies on here, and not once has anybody insulted me, or felt the need to enter into an online argument. There are even a couple of members within a four hour drive of me (especially Eck) who have offered their expertise and assistance. This site is a welcome breath of fresh air. Anyways, I had to get that off my chest, so now I'm off my soap-box...thanks to all of you for a truly exceptional website. Peace out.
  8. had to make a post that we never forget ..........we lost a lot........but we didnt lose any friends! And thats what is important!
