Ok some of you have asked for a pictorial explanation on the second gear fix so here is the start. Step 1 remove outer and inner fairings, radiator cover, side coversfalse tank cover. Step2remove the radiator, crashbars, exhaust, pegs, front to back frame bar. This took me 45 min to complete while dinner was cooking. I will post more tomorrow after I get the motor out and split if I can find the problem with the engine as some of you know I am not removing the motor for second gear I am trying to find a noise in the transmission. Jeff Ok the pics wont upoad so I will try again in the morning

My 86 Venture Royale will not go much above 5500 to 6000 rpm in 4th and 5th gear. It seems to hit a wall and won't go any faster. Can anyone suggest what the cause is and how to fix it. Is it a timing problem or weak valve springs causing the valves to float at high rpm? Otherwise the motor starts right away, runs very smoothly. I am probably not getting the acceleration that I should at the lower range but as this is my first Venture I have nothing to compare it with. At this time, my V-Star 1100 Classic has far more top end. Help!!

I have a slight problem, the front fork of my husband's Royal Star Venture is to soft. He wants to take off the oil from it,and put new oil in. My question, where do u let the oil pour out,and where does he put the new one in. In one word, complete oil change on the front fork of his motor. Also, what type of oil does it take? Hope i can hear something soon. Thanks already Greetz Kiki

Whenever I removed the two side bars that hold the side panels on, which was to enhance the look with the bikini side panels, I was concerned I would get some flexing. Well, after putting the bars back on today, I am sure I was getting some flexing. I have seen several comments over the years about solid motor mounts on a 1st gen. Now I feel if I want to run without the side bars, I need to get some solid motor mounts. If any of you know where I can get some, please let me know. Otherwise I will probably have to make some. Thanks randya
