As you are all contemplating the purchase of a zumo 550, please keep in mind that the bluetooth portion is for the cell phone connection. It does NOT give STEREO output for the MP3 player. The only way to get stereo is out of the hardwire plug. Now, the new Zumo 660 will support stereo sound over bluetooth. However, the 660 does not have XM capability. Also, I don't believe the 550 will support 2 connections over bluetooth at the same time. So, riding 2 up would force 1 person to be in silence unless the helmet of 1 would rebroadcast to another. JB

I am just a bit confused on the use of this cable. Is this strictly so one can make a phone call using a bluetooth phone? Or does it have another use? I don't have a bluetooth phone and was wondering if it would be of any use to me to get one of those cable. Thanks

I just bought (and paid way too much for) a Nolan N-42 helmet and installed the basic and bluetooth kit in it. I can't say enough about how well this works. I thought it would be impossible to have my phone connected to my helmet and still be able to use the CB. The CB/intercom is still connected by a wire (had to buy the multimedia wire for the Gold Wing) but it works flawlessly. I can dial the phone with the voice dialing, answer a call, hang it up, and still have the CB hooked up and working. I really didn't think it would be possible to have all this going at once. I don't want a cell phone along on a holiday trip but it's nice when I am commuting... Playing the music through the helmet is pretty tinny but voice from the phone and CB is very clear. Everyone says they can't believe I am on my motorcycle. Can't wait for the BT module to come in for my Yaesu ham radio and see if that works!!

Does anybody know if you can convert or add a bluetooth to a regular JM headset. Seems like a shame to through out a working headset. County Mounty:bobby:

Have any of you managed to somehow connect the Zumo 550 Bluetooth function to your phone and standard headset in a meaningfull, usefull way? If so, please share the info, pictures if you have them...? I guess a very handy and usefull thing would be to somehow end up with the entire helmet headset setup being wireless...... But that's probably too complex or expensive....?

If I have a bluetooth receiver on my helmet, is there anyway to use it with the CB on the Venture? or is the only way to use the Venture systems to wirre in directly.

.....is there such a thing? First off, allow me to point out that I am not one who is particularly interested in doing a lot of conversing via cell phone - especially while operating a motor vehicle. And, as another poster had informed, my aim is to be able to field important calls from my family. I use a full-face helmet, and my bluetooth earpiece will not fit with the helmet on. So I wondered if there were such a thing as a bluetooth headset which was made to be attached to the helmet's outer side, with a long enough boom mic to reach the operator's mouth location at the helmet's lower inner side. A guy that I used to ride with, years ago, had a similar double-set unit that he used to communicate with his passenger. His was a different setup, of course, and for tethered communication. But they were both able to hear each other, through the shell of their respective helmets (earpiece attached to outer side), and speak back through the boom mic that reached underneath their protective headgear. It would be nice if there were a singular-design bluetooth headset for bikers, who desire what I would like to have.

I may be doin' some wishful thinking, but, is there anything out there that plugs into the stock stereo/intercom headset pin connectors on the 2001 RS Venture that would then allow for a Bluetooth helmet mounted rig to use the on-bike intercom, hear the on-bike stereo, and connect to a Bluetooth phone? Like I said, probably wishful thinking. Looking for a way to be able to utilize system that is already on the bike and connect to the Bluetooth cell phone without using two different head sets. Thanks, Lee

Just in case somebody has some extra money to spend, Kennedy makes a Bluetooth interface to connect cellphones, GPS etc. wirelessly to your standard 5-pin DIN intercom system. Here is a link for a possible source, options should fit 1st and 2nd Gen bikes: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/KT/detail.asp?SET=CELLBT&3=KT-CELLBT-DEV-TTR Not cheap, but interesting... Klaus
