  1. No petcock on a Vic ...
  2. I've seen another product advertised that is dual fans, one for each cylinder ... either black or chrome. What I'd like to see is a fan system that disperses / redirects the exhaust header pipe heat away from the rider and passenger. Vic engines have no overheating issue and the majority of heat felt by rider/passenger comes off those head pipes / collector / crossover. hmmmmmm... maybe I'll have to design something ... make myself a TON of money!
  3. Even though I'm biased, I agree ... "butt" ugly. I feel it needs some design changes to the fenders so that they flow into the lower trunk better which will make it's BUTT more attractive. Nothing's better than an attractive butt...
  4. They're all parts bikes to keep his 1st gen's running
  5. Can't really say for sure ... I'm getting appx 45 mpg on average.
  6. That's the same with the Vic ... gut the CATs, add a Power Commander, high flow air filter, set of performance mufflers and dyno tune it and they run cooler and smoother and are significantly more powerful. And then throw in cams and WOW ... you're upwards and over the 120 mark on HP and Tq.
  7. I'm 5' 11" and I felt fairly comfy but sure didn't like the lack of room on the floorboards. Nor did I like how high I had to lift my foot to apply the brake or shift gears. I felt "scrunched" when I rode the "low" version as it seemed the seat design pushed my butt further forward in comparison to the standard configuration ... it wasn't long before my back started bothering me due to that. Absolutely LOVE my floorboards and leg room / seating position ... I've been tossing around the idea of getting some highway pegs but I really don't need them as I can stretch out my legs just fine with what's there. I have a 32" inseam. About the only thing the pegs would do for me is provide a place to rest the toe of my boot on.
  8. You see it with the Indian but not with other, similar bikes (like the Victory for example) ??
  9. Since aerodynamics and wind has been mentioned above, .... a few weeks back we had Harley demo days ... Saturday at one location, Sunday at another, and I went both times and rode 3 times. Each was on an Ultra Limited, one being the "low" version. Compared to my Vic, or my Wing and RSMV, I found the Ultra to not be as good. I was getting more head buffeting and body buffeting on the Ultra. I could really feel it under my arms and on my knees. Never felt any of that on the Vic, Wing, or RSMV. As for the water cooled Harley, has your cousin come across any issues with that as I've heard there's been some problems with it.
  10. Those Audi's are quick ... I tried once ... couldn't keep up with it ... I became a speck in his mirror real quick ... I shut it down around 190km/h LOL
  11. Just saw these on another forum .... I kinda like them both ... but perhaps my bias is to blame LOL
  12. I've got a Mobius Actioncam and really like it. https://www.mobius-actioncam.com/
  13. WHAT??? YOU JEST ... YES?? NO? ... then maybe you should advise all the manufacturers of motorcycles about this as apparently none of them know about it LOL
  14. When I get off the bike I always turn around and look at it ... and I like what I see and how I feel. It gets less clunky over time. If you forget the side stand is down and do a left turn, it will just pop back up when it comes in contact with the road. Watch the vid ... it's demonstrated appx mid way.
  15. Just came across this link ...
  16. Oh, another thing ... a lot of owners complain about the noisy shifting ... yes, it does go *clunk* when you put it in first and yes, there's a bit less of a *clunk* when you shift to second but after that, nothing really. The trick is to "pre-load" the shifter a bit before you pull the clutch in. Also, they have a stalling issue if you blip the throttle as if you're ridin an old Harley and sittin at a stop light tryin to impress everyone LOL It's got something to do with how the ECM is programmed, lack of vacuum, etc. That said, I have no problems rev-matching as I down shift. Did you know that the shifter mechanism and the foot brake mechanism can be adjusted forward or reverse with 3 different settings? Do you know about the tip over protection? Do you know about the kickstand safety? EDIT: FWIW, mine hasn't stalled since a few times the first year ... and that was probably due to the fact it was bone stock, not fully broken in yet, and I didn't know about the blipping ... which seemed to occur then when you rev matched when downshifting to 2nd or 1st. No problems since I've done some "tuning" on it although I still won't blip when stopped at a light.
  17. Created a new thread soas to not hijack Freebird's thread .... after all, he's the boss and we could get into a big heap of kaka if'n we wuz to do that .....
  18. @BigLenny Starting a new thread on this so we're not hijacking Freebird's thread on the Indian. I changed out the windshield to a Fergusson Flip. To do that you remove the stock shield brackets and the new shield screws to the stock bracket bases. I did that the first year (3rd summer ago). There is a plastic cover that goes over top of those braces. Just this spring that plastic cover started to vibrate under certain engine load conditions. Simple fix .... thin strip of black weatherstrip between the shield and the plastic covers. The lower side covers can pop loose if your passenger bumps them with their heel. My wife's feet get in my way when I stop and put my feet down so she has to turn her toes outward a bit ... in so doing, she bumps the side cover with her heel and that causes the top front pin to pop out. No biggie as with additional "training", she rarely does that anymore LOL Initially it seemed that the paint had not yet fully cured as it would be easy to marr it but now it's good. I have no marrs or scratches except for one on the lower side cover. Any marrs that I got were easy to polish out. Due to the color, you'd have to be looking for them. Not the same as on my RSMV when I had it ... I was constantly polishing out marrs in the paint on that bike! I haven't done any polishing on my Vic for ages and the paint looks great! Heck, I don't even wash it that often compared to the RSMV! The right saddlebag latch's fitment is "off" a bit and causes some wear where it shouldn't. An easy fix. There is some "leakage" on one of the saddlebags weather stripping but it's not enough for a concern (for me). If I was doing a lot of riding in dirt, then it would be. The dealer was willing to replace the whole saddlebag on warranty if I wanted. I am really upset about the fact that I can't scrape the floorboards in the twisties .... LOL I tell ya, this thing can really handle the twisties and I've had it over so far a few times I thought for sure I'd go down ... but I didn't ... even with a CT on the back. I do have a gremlin bell hanging at the bottom of the front crash bar and I've heard it jingling several times. The engine is noisy (or at least you can hear it more) ... noisier than my RSMV was ... I believe it's because it's an integral part of the frame so any sounds it produces reverberate within the hollows of the frame. No biggie... you get used to it, just like you get used to various sounds on any other bike... except of course that friggin clutch basket whine on the Venture LOL. I added a pair of D&D performance mufflers and they pretty much take care of any engine sounds. I really like them. Now when I'm cruisin all I can hear is the purring rumble of the pipes and when I get on it, she barks nicely. I pulled my Leesur-Lite tent trailer with it the first summer. We were loaded pretty heavy and it had no problems ... keep in mind we ride mostly in the mountains here so a lot of pulling hills. You've made me really think about all this ... and that's really all I can come up with. I have 25,000 kilometers on it now. I've changed the oil regularly, maybe even more often than needed as I've been experimenting with different oils. Pretty much settled now on Amsoil 20w40. I changed the rear tire this spring and mounted a CT. There was still maybe 2000 kms of tread left at that time. So that was appx 22,000 kms. Still lots of tread on the front.
  19. Time is counting down .... Only just over 2 weeks left .... You gotta come (or go depending on your perspective) .... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?97919-It-s-on-venture-west-2015-june-25-28-2015 :dancefool:
  20. Ya, you'd think at 45 he'd of grown out of that by now LOL Well I'll be totally up front and candid regarding the heat issue on my Vic. When we first got it, the heat was very noticeable, specifically on the right side and directly under the passenger floorboard. I could feel it and so could my wife... a LOT. After a bit of research I found 2 things that, for the most part, reduce that heat significantly. 1. Removal of the Catalytic converters. Those things are in the head pipes and directly underneath the right passenger floorboard. So I did that ... a bit of a PITA job but the effort was well worth it. While there is still some heat, it was no where near what it was. 2. Dyno tune. Install a power commander and have the bike dyno tuned. This sets the optimum air/fuel/timing mapping at various rpms and throttle positions and does make the engine run cooler, not to mention add power. You have to understand that all bikes are set at the manufacturer to meet and or exceed EPA guidelines and because of that, they're really not running at their optimum levels. One of the nice things about the Victory line is that they are both Air and Oil cooled and they have a fairly large oil cooler. You will never have to worry about them overheating (according to those who ride in the deep south). So, in summary, I won't try and tell you that there is no heat from the engine but what I will say is you will notice it in stop and go traffic on a hot day but (and this depends on each individual) ... it is bearable and it won't burn the inside of your leg, IF you do at least number one above. I should add, it's not so much that it's ENGINE heat alone but rather, heat from the header pipes and crossover collector. Every bike will have it's downside(s). For me, there are so many positives about this bike that I can put up with a little bit of extra heat on hot days in stop and go traffic. When you've moving along, it's not an issue. If there's anything else you want to know about them, feel free to ask.
  21. Seems many of the V-twin air cooled bikes have a "heat" issue. Harley, Victory, Indian, .... what about some of the others like Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha V-twins (even though some of them aren't air cooled).... anyone know? Temps were in the low to mid 30's over the weekend (that's appx 90f) and I was noticing a fair amount of heat when stopped in traffic but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't live with it. Would have been a lot worse though had I not gutted the CATs out of the head pipes. During a ride on Saturday though I noticed my butt was getting quite hot ... even while moving along at 80km/h (50 mph) ... that was really odd and I was beginning to think there was something wrong .... and in fact, as I soon discovered, there was!!! Turns out my son who was on the ride with me flipped my seat heater switch on to HIGH at our last stop !!! He should know me better by now ... I don't get mad, I just get EVEN!
  22. You need to read this book then ... it's volume one and I believe there's several more ....
  23. That's pretty cool alright but my Victory has remote start and there's no programming involved ... well, maybe some .... you see, I just give the key to Nina and she goes out and starts it.
  24. oooooooooooooo .... that's really stirrin the pot ...
  25. Puc, you are nothing short of a walking book of great ideas ............
