  1. I can't speak for those, but Hartco makes a great seat cover. Mine came with the bike and it looks great. I at first thought it was reupholstered. When i took the seat off for some unknown reason I discovered it was an aftermarket seat cover. Not sure on the price for them but it shouldn't be too far out of line. Take a look, you might like them.
  2. I broke out my P-coat from my NAVY days. I got it on. However, I don't recall it fitting that tight before. I figure it must be something in the closet that's making things shrink. My eating habits aren't that bad, are they?
  3. I just took a ride to the post office and it was great. My coat got a little warm, even with the liner removed. But in Parker, Arizona your bike will sink out of sight sitting in a parking lot in the summer.
  4. Parker, Arizona is 75 right now. But it should warm up later. You folks enjoy your snow.
  5. This is slightly off subject, I have a new battery that was just purchased and I tried to pull the water sensor plug out in order to do some cleaning. The plug is so tight the plastic portion is stretching rather than coming out. Now my question, has this ever happened to anyone else? If so , what was the outcome, break the plug, break the battery, dead battery, or whatever? Obviously a new plug is in order. Seems like I try to fix one thing and I end up creating another thing to take care of. I suppose I am not alone with that. Anyway, what do I do now?
  6. The wife and I decided not to gift each other this year. However we did book a cruise for march. los angeles to panama canal to ft lauderdale and back for 30 days. I can't take the bike. what a bummer.

    COLD

Its cool here this morning, but I will have to take the bike out for some last minute shopping. Its 76 right now. Should get a little warmer. You guys enjoy your snow and have a happy holiday.
  9. Sounds like life on the Bonnie Dick. For all you army types that's the USS Bon Homme Richard. CVA31, Not the new one. Makes me old I guess.
  10. Put a gen 1 v-4 in it. Get the yard work done in record time!
  11. After buying a new battery I was still having problems starting. Must be something else wrong, right. I pulled the battery cables loose and sanded them to a nice shiny condition. Much better result. Now my question is, where have they hidden the common ground on the frame? Any info will be much appreciated.
  12. Now I know this a little off subject but I can't find it anywhere else. Is there a way to determine if the starter is a 2 brush or a 4 brush without the obvious method of removing it? Part number, a marking of some sort, or just saying 4 or 2. Not having a garage to disassemble in, I would rather not take it apart in a campground, only to discover i can't do the job. We live full time in a motorhome. The only "garage" is the rack on the rear of the motorhome. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.
  13. what possible use could a politician have for a gym? Storage for all their pork barrel goodies?
  14. Put mine on the bike rack on the back of the motorhome. Leave for Palm Springs today. Maybe i will ride over to the air museum. It is a pretty good museum if you're into that sort of thing. Come on down. Should be a nice day!
  15. You forgot one. If not more. This one is still standing just south of the south entrance to Yellowstone. We saw wildlife From afar Until we hit them With our car. Happens more often than it should.
  16. Bought mine Dec 6th, 2011. Over the phone, without telling my loving wife. It's a 1988 Venture Royale, white in color. Had to have it shipped to Ca, since it was in W.V., and we were leaving on a cruise on the 7th. Have it, love it, gonna keep it!
  17. You didn't say what your interests are, other than riding. The wife and I enjoy touring manufacturing plants. Harley Davidson in York, Pennsylvania. Cheese and ice cream in Tillamook, Oregon. Plywood in Virginia. Jelly beans in California. (It takes 7 to 10 days to make a jelly bean.) Hockey sticks in Minnesota. Saturn plant? Can't do that one any more. Or, how about pro sports? Time your ride to hit as many games as possible. Touring state capitols? How many National parks can you squeeze in? Let us know what you decide. Maybe you will have company along the way. Ride safe and get back home in one piece..
  18. I had a ramp and carrier made for my vulcan since it only weighed 525 or so and i could drive it up the ramp, while walking beside it. When i finally got my venture royale (an 88) i did not want to try the same trick. Too heavy! I found a used electric carrier for cheap. ($1000) I did have to have the cross pieces shortened by 5 inches because my two receivers were welded to the engine rails on my bus conversion. Once installed it works great. Pull the bike onto the carrier while lowered, tie it down, then raise it into position and lock it up. I then pull a grand cherokee behind it. I have had no problems with it as yet. If you just look around used lifts are available. Just be aware that no warranty goes with a used unit.
  19. Having worked in national parks and knowing many rangers, I must say most rangers do feel very strongly about their charges. I have witnessed the putting down of animals injured by vehicle traffic and concern for the comfort of the animal was always uppermost in their minds. Rarely do the people who hit the animals stop to report the incident. Unless of course the vehicle has been disabled. You were very lucky indeed. Perhaps luck combined with riding skill allowed you to ride it through. Please don't think unkindly of the ranger, he may have been one of two dispatched. I am certainly glad you did not receive any injuries, other than the venture. Ride safe.
  20. Maybe I am babying my 1st gen, but I consistantly get between 45-50 the way I ride. No fast starts, no high speed runs, I enjoy just cruising. It could be that the nearest freeway is 3 hours away. I just wish I knew how to start it on cold mornings. Around 30 or below. No garage.
  21. If I can do it with my inexpensive tools and limited skills. then you should have no problem fixing it. Mine still works.
  22. I would think that the coils, resting where they do, would always be operating at temperatures greater than 100 degrees. Therefore, what good would it do to bake them in an oven at 100 degrees for an hour? Somehow it just does not make much sense to me. Now that the weather has dried out, I am not having any trouble with the bike. Could it have just had some water some place it shouldn't have been?
  23. Mine was a brand new, black Honda cb160. It only lasted about 6 months. But I enjoyed it.
  24. I baked a coil for an old outboard motor once. A friend dropped it in the Long Beach Marina for me. It seemed to work for a while, but then I bought new coils and it ran much better. Living in a motorhome full time, I don't have a shop to tear this thing down in. It has to be outdoors and disassembling it that far just scares the whatever out of me. I'll do something. Thanks
