1. Thanks for comment.....Yeah, I've rode for an hour on the highway after having to push start it and lights and everything ran great, if it was the charging system, I think it would slowly dissipate running off the battery for just so long and eventually die ....
2. Hello everyone, 2006 RSTD runs fine for days, 44 miles a day round trip to work, then I go to start and the starter relay just clicks continually. Headlights, tail lights and dash all come on as usual but it just clicks. I've even left work, all starting fine, stopped after 10 miles, went into the store for 15 min and then it just clicks. Push starting, yeah, living in SW VA affords many hills, ha, and even jump starting works fine and fires up first crank, and I can ride 15 or more miles and turn it off and then try to start and just clicks. Measuring the battery shows around 9-10VDC with everything off. 13.6-9VDC when running at high idle and the battery connected. I put a fresh charged battery in when the clicking was occurring and starts up just fine with just a battery swap. And it may run for a day or 4 then the trouble starts again. It seems to have issues when the voltage from the battery is low, of course right.....but I think something is draining the battery, even during running. No after market anything except for an LED headlight which has been in there for almost two years. Problem has existing for the last 3 months and no changes to anything on the bike. I have taken the starter relay out and removed the battery connection from the + post to the starter relay as well. The M side of the starter relay which is removed from the relay and that wire goes to the starter circuit, I put the lead of the meter on that and the other lead on the + post of the battery with the - side of the battery still connected to the - gnd wire as normal and I'm getting .26 mA DC of current. Should there be a current draw there? I'm thinking that there should not be any draw when key is off and out. I remove the - gnd wire, - side of the battery, it zeros out. Also, using continuity on the meter, it sounds off when one lead is on the wire that connects to the M side of the starter relay (w/o relay connected) and the other touches exposed frame. The main thing in testing would be if there should be current present between the points I've outlined or not. If not, then there exists an exposed wire somewhere. Really don't know where to go from here. If the tests ive done so far are of no help, I am sooooo open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for any assistance.... eric
3. Cool thanks. I have the lowering kit on mine and the shock wont hold air so I'm riding looooow...ha
4. Mind sharing what the Hagon shock set you back? My 06 RSTD shock went out and I'm searching around.
5. I will check the top....thank you for the direction!!!!!!!!
6. One fork will not hold pressure. one stays normal 4lbs the other will not take air, well it will take it, but I can watch the gauge slowly loose it to zero. I hit the front brake hard and there's a noticeable click or pop so I got the progressive pump figuring it might need some air although the manual says zero but anyway...... blown bladder or seal? Don't know enough so I always count on the VR group to point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance....
7. Resistance is NOT futile....It's Voltage divided by Current! BTW...06 RSTD consistent 40-42 mpg two lane country road....K&N air filters and Bubs 2-1 exhaust.
8. Can't drop a dime anymore...it's more like 75 cents...or more if you're passed your minutes on your cell.... Snitches always got stitches but they cant afford to snitch anymore...ha
9. I remember the last time i made fun a Harley..... Well, rode from Va to Dallas and on the way back, my buddy wanted to stop at Dallas HD for some T-shirts and he left his key on to his HD Softail and I had to push start him in the HD parking lot....Got a lot of mileage out of that one until in middle of nowhere Arkansas, my shifter bolt vibrated out and I go to downshift and nothing there....bailing wire found on the side of the road got me home... So, when i want to make fun of a Harley, I just practice my right to remain silent. Got to hand it to them, HD has an awesome marketing department... They take a decked out bike, strip it down, hike the price, and sell the parts back as options. And folks dont have a problem with that. Amazing. I won't even mention paying $35.00 for a T-shirt....insane.
10. Yep, kinda makes ya feel sorry for those who are sore after the first or second fuel stop!!! Ha.
11. Me as well.... 06 RSTD ridin on the darkside for around a year...got approx 10K on the tire now....cant tell the difference between a MC tire and this one except improved traction in the rain. My guess is I'll be changing it because of age before tread wear and I'm not shy about the twisties either. Yep, not for everyone but I'll be using it again when the time comes. Had a difficult time getting someone to mount it....the smaller shops wouldn't touch it and the one that did and said they do it all the time is the major all brand dealer in our area which is the one that I thought wouldn't do it. ha Only con would be the high pressure rate that is required to seat it...think mine was around 80lbs...
12. Loctite on a Harley........unheard of!:rotf:For a clothing manufacturer, they don't make a bad bike!!!!!
13. Oh, yeah, probably thinkin, hey, you ain't from around here are ya...ha. here goes....
14. See.......another reason why this forum ROCKS! Been nice to know but I do now, we all pick up knowledge along the way.... Thanks for sharing!!!!!

18. Never had that problem but I know what I'm checking when i get home tonight....took the cage today.... Oh yeah,, shifter bolt, shifter bolt, shifter bolt.....ok, im over it now, lost mine on a recent 2500 mile ride...kinda weird riding 100 or so miles without stoping or shifting then pull off for gas and try to downshift....no big deal but just a little "houston we got a problem" moment. ha. I thought only Harley bolts have auto-reverse on them...ha...
19. Just a little bragging....my ride, 06 RSTD with Quadzilla fairing....rode it to Texas and back from Viriginia last week, man I was really impressed with pretty much every aspect of the bike's performance. Cruzing at 80 for hours and hours seemed very much at home for this bike. The comfort .....unbelievable!!!!! The cruise control was a life saver and it worked flawlessly!!!! Mileage between 40 and 48 a gallon....Just a sweet ride...Im probably preachin to the chior but... Oh, yeah, then theres this......somewhere in nowheresville...in Arkansas between Texarkana and Little Rock...the screw that holds the shifter on fell out.....Pretty interesting attempting to downshift and the shifter is just flopping around by the linkage....so after searching around the side of the road i stopped on...I found some old fence wire fashioned in a made to order config and hose clamp I had, got me home ..ha.... So watch them screws!!!!
20. Yep, they pop right out and fit in the housing....I used them and you can be seen I assure ya....They don't have much of a throw but man they are bright to look at from a distance.
21. Silly Darksiders....you can't do that..... HA! Really liking the CT. Took 95lbs to seat but all is good.....running 38psi to start, may adjust after a 100 or so miles. Really doesn't feel much different... just got to tell my brain to ride like i've always did....guess I'm "supersearching" for any little difference between MT and CT....and I might be a little too careful..... Just going to make sure the pressure is rite and ride it....I must say it's a more plush ride, i may have to bump up the rear shock a little but all in all, 60 miles into it so far, I'm pretty much decided I ain't goin back to MT...... Yeah, I guess they were right, you can't put a car tire on a bike.....ha! Come to think of it, that factory goo stuff is probably melted off by now....Got it changed out Saturday, it was 101 degrees in Virginia, on the way home, bank temp sign said 102...
22. I had to search hard to find the Kumho 165/80/15 but I did fine some.... King Tire in Roanoke, Va $55 out the door!!!!!! Said he has stock of 5 more if anyone needs one....Don't know if they ship or not but if anyone needs one and they don't ship, I could facilitate shipping, just msg me. Be mounting it tomorrow hopefully, let ya's know the proceedure and how it works out....Oh, this will be my darkside plunge....so I'll be looking for dem cookies cuz i'm crossing over to feel the POWWA of the Darkside!!!!!! Thanks to all for the vast amount of information on sizing and mounting and experience.
