  1. I would love to see that in person to really look closely at the construction/engineering. Thanks for posting.
  2. One of my investigations took me to the local HD Shop. This trailer was there. The rear window hatch unlocked and lifted the whole roof up for access. Pretty cool trailer.
  3. This years Run For The Wall has two routes a southern route and central route, Just thought I would post the links. It is really a cool thing to participate. Last year it was my first PGR Mission. This year I hope to tag along to the next gas stop. Gotta check with them to make sure it is okay though.. Main page: http://www.rftw.org/ Southern Itinerary: http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=133&pid=124 Central Itinerary: http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=132&pid=123
  4. I didn't follow the Doctor's advice the first time around with the what I refer to now as the "minor" surgery. The second surgery involved a titanium made shoulder. Even coming home from the 2nd surgery I didn't "follow the orders" and had the issue below. Now with my titanium should I get the special VIP treatment from the TSA at every airport since I sound off the metal detectors.. I think I'm engaged to TSA molesters...Uh..I mean screeners in Vegas, Phoenix, Atlanta, Raleigh and Fayetteville... FOLLOW THE DOCTORS ORDERS... or learn to like the TSA guys really well.....
  5. Done. Good luck Mike. Hope you and your daughter get back in the saddle fast.
  6. Besides the air blast, you can use some carb cleaner. Just drain the bowl, stick the red plastic hose from the carb cleaner into the drain hose just make sure you wrap a small cloth around where the hose and spray tube connect to protect from spray back. Blast the stuff in to the bowl and let drain back out. You can do all 4 carbs with one can.
  7. Mine went in much easier than coming out. Move the wires and you will find the right little angle. Good luck.
  8. You forgot to mention "In Pink"
  9. Great Job Brian ! These look GREAT! Please put me down for the following: USA Size = 7" Qty = 2
  10. Then let's keep this one OFF THE ASPHALT buddy !
  11. I know it will be a hard day. I will pray that GOD's grace is with you and your family. Sorry for your loss.
  12. Good save Bert ! Glad you kept it upright. Salt River is a fun ride but I take it slower... those steep side drop offs remind me that its not the fall that hurts but the sudden stop at the bottom. The first time a drug the pegs on a friend's Vulcan 1600 on a Silver City run definitely got my attention. Hey, I'm in North Carolina, but will be back Monday. I still have that center stand if you want it. I should be home all day Monday.
  13. Dan, so sorry to hear of your loss. So young.
  14. I had a 1st Gen, 2006, KLR650. They are a great bike. I put over 20K in one year on mine. The y last a long time if maintained. Cheap to maintain and repair. Sold my KLR for my 87...hope to get another KLR as soon as possible. Did I mention they are a great bike ?
  15. Good to hear from you... with all this talk on launching Rockets... thought maybe you were jettisoned out somewhere...
  16. One thing to keep in mind: As you slide the fork back up and tighten the bearings, reach down and make sure that there are no wires or anything that got pinched between the forks and the frame neck. ... don't ask me how I know this... :whistling:
  17. Pretty cool. Just shows me you all live back east. It's kinda lonely out west...
  18. Why are you making fun of YammerDans garage ???
  19. I have one, but it was on the bike when I got it so I can't tell you it makes a difference.
  20. You know that there is a song about your problem.... By Mary Macgregor Torn Between Two Ventures lyrics Torn between two Ventures, feeling like a fool Loving both of you is breaking all the rules Torn between two Ventures, feeling like a fool Loving you both is breaking all the rules You mustn't think you failed me just because there's another one to consider You were the first real love I ever had, Never looked at a 2nd Gen I swear that still is true For no one else can have the Venture color blue
  21. I hope these will help. I am torn on what to tell you. These are beautiful bikes when "blinged out" . The blue is my favorite. There is a gold 87 with a trailer that was just posted for $3500.00 that has a lot of extras. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4537 But, all advice given here is good, unless it came from a 2nd Gen owner then do the opposite ! CHECKLIST for 1st Generation VENTURES.doc
  22. I was just wondering the same thing. I am used to getting my "Rocket" call asking how my bike is running and my latest bike related issues. I hope he isn't in any trouble as I heard today that the North Koreans moved a "Rocket" towards the it's east coast.
  23. I also agree...be careful ! I bought my 87 non-running with a "great story" from the seller. "Running when parked two years ago" "Rode it all over Arizona before I parked it" Etc Etc Etc... It was in a nice airplane hanger, he had a cool plane, drove a nice car, rebuilding a nice Vette at his house.... I thought clean carbs and ride it.... WRONG... he had screwed so much up on it, probably trying to get it running... stripped carb bolts, used clear silicone on the carbs ..all inside n out ! wired the headlight wrong, and my favorite.. hooked up the vacuum on the left front cylinder to the vacuum of the cruise control . I have put a lot of time and $$ in this bike and it is still apart and barely runs. I could have bought a nice bike for the time and money I have in it. Go in low $$... or don't go in..
  24. Me too ! I love the fingerless gloves.
  25. I have a set of carbs from an 84. They were left open to the elements and some parts are easy to get off, the slides haven't been. But, of there are any parts you still need through this adVenture, let me know.
