Rare colors for a first generation venture
KIC replied to Brenner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My son-in-law just bought this 86 from a fellow member... sounds like the color you are talking about. -
...There was plenty of room, but due to a certain border issue from our President of Socialism, it's getting pretty crowded.... fast.... and after spending the last 4 days with that white crap on the ground in Indiana, we flew back to the sunshine and the wife and I got home from the airport, jumped on the bike and went to get some Mexican shrimp tacos... and "forgot" to wear our jackets... Why don't you guys keep the ice in the freezer where it belongs ?? I love our Arizona Global Warming, I mean climate change... I mean winter temps.. Any other political lines I can push ??

Vacuum Advance/Boost sensor
KIC replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the information. If the booster is not working, what is the symptoms that would show ? Any type of symptoms while idling, running fast, decelerating or holding steady ? I will get a mighty vac to test it when I get back in town. I do have another one on my parts bike if I need it. Thanks again guys. -
What is the PhotoPlog ? Where is it ? If I am being annoyed, I like to know by what and where....

Latest news on my brain leak,, or,,,, never let a runny nose out run you..
KIC replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Puc... prayers sent your way, actually straight up on your behalf... anyway, I am not a medical expert by any means, but I could recommend a special nose spray that would probably work on an old road warrior like you... even comes with a sniffing tube ( attached) .. take care and heal fast..... -
the dreaded left side kickstand oil drip

Help identifying and finding a part
KIC replied to CMCOFFEY's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks.... ironically a friend of mine stopped by today on his 83 to watch our beloved Cardinals lose a game to the SeaDucks and presto.. I never noticed that his had one on his bike. -
I have been battling a MPG issue for awhile. After finding issues with my new diaphragms and such, the bike is running great, got rid of the infamous garage gas smell and return the bike to it's former fast and powerful self. BUT, I have not got it to return to the 42-45 MPG I was getting when I first bought it. Background: New plug wires, New diaphragms, added the little white washers to the slides, synced the carbs ( many times) and they look real close, checked for vacuum leaks, looked, tinkered and toyed. Now, my question: How do you test/check the vacuum advance/Boost sensor ? The line is hooked to the #2 carb base I checked the little black and white thing (? what is that thing and what does it do ?? ) and it allows air both ways When running, I disconnected it and tried to create suction to see if the RPM's would changed and nothing happens ( did not use a tool just my mouth and the suction stuck it to my tongue and did not release. So, could that advance/booster allow the bike to run great but not be working at higher speeds and then affect my MPG ?

Help identifying and finding a part

That looks pretty cool...I would like to see a picture after installation. Do they only fit 83 to 85's ? -
No problem Kevin, I have (not-so) fond memories of trips down the way from Tortillita Flats/Canyon Lake to Apache Lake. That (dirt) road was scary at best and usually just terrifying trying to pull a big boat through. I remember towing a big V-Drive with a Land Cruiser down it with out any trailer brakes and the Land Cruiser brakes were just about enough to stop the LC with out the boat. Now I have to admit it has been years since I have driven that road and it might be widened from 1 1/2 lanes and even paved by now . Anyway, the size of Video's sailboat just couldn't be fun going down that curvy cliff filled road. Ride Safe.. and thanks for the return of the teenage nightmares about that driving on that road. lol:rotf:

That would be insane to go to Roosevelt through that way. Maybe you are thinking of Apache Lake. That is between Canyon Lake and Roosevelt. The easiest way to Roosevelt is up through Florence passed Superior over to through the hopping nothing town of Miami and then down to the lake. Was a great lake to camp at until the Govt. decided to take it over and screwed it all up for camping and fun stuff. And we DO NOT ALLOW SNOW THERE !!!

Man I LOVE our members map Don,,, got an idea,, will probably sound NUTS but..
KIC replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
While you are ignoring us out here in Venture Land, what about the possibility of being able to change the color of the location marker to a 3rd color that would indicate a member willing to house/lodge a traveling member while on a trip ? If I was going somewhere on a certain route, I could look at the member's map and see (let's say) "RED" markers showing a potential night stop or somebody willing to "house" a member for the night or a quick repair while on a trip. Just a thought. You may now return to your previously scheduled ignoring programming... P.S. I don't have a place for a tent, but I have several comfy rooms with cable TV ( and a pool for summer cool offs) P.S.S. And I make great ice tea in case CowPuc Robertson drops by... -

Don't you just love having Puc around on the forum ??? Now if we could only get his twin brother Si from Louisiana to join.... -
Uhm... As a Special Agent with the Arizona Department of Snow Regulation, you should know that there still is a warrant out for you for the violation of the Arizona Snow Act of 2002. First time offenders can get off with just a bike confiscation and a small fine that covers title transfer. A second offense is pretty painful. The choice is yours....

Hi All. So if you all thought one of me was bad enough..I just signed my son-in-law up for a membership ( I'm still trying to figure out how to pay the $12.00) He recently purchased 1Rooster's beautiful orange 1986 1st Gen. He is in the area of Dunn North Carolina and I am hoping there are a few Venture family members around there that might be able to help him out now and then as he learns about the bike. Hope you all say Hi to N22Stull

Here's pictures of the best looking, fastest 87' Venture ever....
KIC replied to K-Rider's topic in Watering Hole
I really like that color. I think it just knocked the blue color from my #1 spot to #2 spot. And as far as the fastest..since I fixed my carbs I now know why they really say they are the fastest. ENJOY !! -
Here are some of the documents I have saved from others that I used when I changed my tire on the 89. Now when I switched with the 87, that was a different easier story.. as the pictures show. REAR TIRE REMOVAL.doc FINAL DRIVE.doc

Dan, although many say that I have brain damage I have more real experience with my 2 children. My son was jumped from behind and severely beaten even while unconscious to the point of severe seizures and the call I received bassically said get to the hospital he wouldn't survive. ( He was jumped over a misunderstanding that he wasn't involved in) He was in the 11th grade at the time (2003). Original diagnoses was a concussion. Fast forward to 11/30/2009 - My Hero daughter was in Afghanistan as a MP and her MRAP hit a 200lb IED. She survived with back injury and a Traumatic Brain Injury. As I feverishly researched what a TBI was and what they knew about them really surprised me. Although, each individual injury can be different, the basics are that there are 3 "triggers" that can affect someone emotionally that can also affect them physically. There are two areas of injury or issue. Physical is severe headaches and insomnia. The second area, emotional usually involves the following 3 issues: Anxiety, Frustration and Anger. Each emotion can be, and is, triggered by each other. Anxiety can easily lead to anger or frustration, Frustration can lead to anger and/or anxiety and anger can lead to anxiety and or frustration. Of course, another side issue is the PTSD that can come along with the injury. In 2009 they are were still learning about the injury since the Iraq war did not have as many head injury survivors. Until they obtained armored vehicles most of the result of hitting an IED in Iraq was death. Once they got armored vehicles more Heroes survived, but suffered TBI's. They have found that TBI's are also more common in car accidents and in the NFL and boxing. During a large impact the brain neurons can be severed which is what can cause the above issues. These neuron paths can be retrained to take another avenue through therapy. As I researched my daughter's case in 2009, I realized that the symptoms and medical issues matched my son's issues to a "T". His anxiety was off the wall which lead to the anger/frustration issues. His dependency on anxiety medication was at a high level. When he lost his engineering job ( and medical benefits) to the economy, his issues led him to searching for anxiety medicine on the street. He could not function without it. He is now 2 years sober from all drugs except the correct diagnosed meds that have helped him become the great young man he was. He now works 2 jobs including one in addiction recovery helping others in need. My daughter is still recovering and although most who meet her, and do not know her story, would think she is "normal". She struggles every day dealing with the 3 triggers of anger, frustration and anxiety. One day at a time. Anyway, knowing some of your work background, if you EVER had a severe head blow or injury, research the TBI issue and see if it matches your symptom/issues. My Hero daughter, her MRAP , Daughter and Hero son-in law and Grand Princess and my son and girlfriend at Grand Canyon yesterday. I be a lucky, lucky guy....
