Thanks Earl for clearing that up wasn't trying to open a can of worms. I certainly can't tell anyone how it works I just know that they have worked for me. I have tried them on more than one occasion in a panic stop and they haven't locked up yet. Now that may also be in part because I have experienced that pucker factor before that I 'm more aware of it but I have been on the rear brakes pretty hard. They still wear uneven and I swapped them last tire change. If I had a complaint about them it would be that there maybe a bit more brake dust than OEM or whatever the PO had installed but and acceptable trade off.

I have found a few ranging from 3500.00 to 4500.00 as there doesn't seem to be a lot out there and but most are different in colors. But the blue / white and red/white seem to be more available just not set up the way I would want. I like the look of the hard leather bags and some of the other colors but I'm in no hurry. For me the small differences in styling of the 96 - 01 compared to later models just makes them look better to me. I'm sure they wont perform like my 07 but that's fine as I'm just looking for something to putter around on when out for a day ride. Thanks

Barry I haven't done the mod to the rear brakes but Skydoc Earl hooked me up with a set of Kevlar pads for the rear and they really help with the grabbing when you get on them pretty hard. Also a easy job to change out.

I'd rather take on New Orleans Sunday than go down there south of the boarder.

Great Job Wade now I can't get that song out of my head. I like the MAGNUM and it has a good story to go with it. It's got my vote if you want it.

3 phase kinda goes along with the Electrical aspect too. But I'm still thinking. Maybe we should give this a day or two. Got to ask why Creole ? Might be helpful .

Does anyone know the color by years for the 96 - 01 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and Boulevard would be? Been thinking about a second bike for just short rides and really like the looks of these year models. Also are all the year models pretty much alike like our 2nd gen ventures or are there things to watch out for? Have never rode one so hows the handling compared to the 2nd gen Venture ?
-
Our 07 will be Shambala because that's where it takes us every time we ride. Just haven't decided on a fitting font to place it on the trunk. Creole maybe you should post some pics and give us a little biography of why you ride and what you like to do. Your occupation and such and we can have a contest to name your bike.

So is this just another one of your clever Photo Shop's cause I know your getting very good at it.

You will find them very comfortable and roomy especially for the passenger. Yes the backrest that I have is adjustable "Utopia " I'm sure others are as well. As far as trailers go the only thing I notice is a drop in gas mpg. Welcome aboard. PS. Don't worry about the year model so much if it's been well taken care of and ridden just pick a color that's pretty much the only difference. Also some 07 models had a recall for head bolts not torqued properly. Dealer can check vin # to verify.

I worked at a Tire Manufacturing plant for 12 years and most of those in the curing dept. Raw tires are sprayed with a lube inside and out shortly after being assembled. This aides in there release from the Mold and the Bladder that inflates them inside the Mold forcing the raw tread compound into the Mold giving whatever tread design. I have seen this crackling thousands of times and is usually to much Lube or it wasn't mixed or thinned properly. The cracking you describe sounds like the case you have as I have had with AVON's. Now I'm not saying others have not had a cracking in the compound which would not be acceptable just that I haven't seen it only the pattern like crackling paint both on and old set of tires with 13k and a new set installed a few months ago. Digging a under cured tire or one not lubed out of a HOT mold aint no fun. Ever notice the white discoloration on the inside ? That comes from the lube also and I haven't heard of anyone not using a tire because of that just sayin.

Not sure about modular helmets But thing that sold me on the helmets we have was that they advertised made for American heads which tend to be more Oval than round and I have been very happy with the fit. They are ZR1 and I don't know if they make modular helmets. But that will be a ? I ask on my next helmet purchase are they oval or round.

May be the pic but looks like your driving lights have the same problem mine do. The one on the right is closer to the fairing than the one on the left. I have adjusted wiggled and scratched my head can't figure out where it's at unless the bar was welded to bracket of center. Looking good though glad your getting it all back together cause spring is just around the corner. Did you plumb up the balance kit yourself or buy one. -
Pike peak is one of those things just to mark off your bucket list we drove up there in Sept. last year $10 bucks a head I think just to drive and a lot of Lance Armstrong wanna be's . sry couldn't help it. Aspen, Durango, Siverton, Mesa Verde, all beautiful Million Dollar Hwy. If you go through 4 corners Mesa Verde but would be a good ride and very interesting. Rocky Mtn.National park is Great for riding and sight seeing. There is a neat Castle kinda in the south east corner of CO. cant remember the name just Google castles in CO. and it is free and worth a look.
