  1. Ponch, Do you know if the dealer claims abuse is there an avenue to appeal it directly to the warranty department? Wonder how successful I would be at that....
  2. I just bought this 06 RSV a few weeks ago. It had what I thought was a bent side stand on it because they had modified it by welding about a 3 inch block of steel on the bottom of the stand to keep the bike up to a decent angle. Well I picked up another stand from a gentleman here and put it on today. It leaned over WAY too much. So I propped the bike back up and looked and the only think I can think of is the bracket on the frame that the stand attaches to must be bent or the frame is twisted... So since it's still under warranty I took it in and dropped it off. They are going to look at it on Friday and call it in to see if it's covered... So a couple of questions for you guys: 1. Should this be covered? 2. If it's not covered, what are my options to "modify" it so it will work. The modified stand I have works but will drag the ground in a moderate left lean through a turn... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Thanks guys. I'm waiting for an email back from someone but if I don't hear back in the next day or two, I'll definately take one of your's... Thanks! Mike
  4. Yeah, I had gotten my USAA moto insurance back when they offered it...When I went to add this new scoot they transfered me to Progressive. Much better rates than I was getting through USAA anyway. USAA said they were charging based on a auto policy, that's why it was so much more. Since I was shopping around I ended up moving ALL of my policies (3 cars, 2 motorcycles and home) away from USAA...this is after 15 years being with them. In the past they were the best rates and good CS, but over the last few years they just kept raising my rates again and again...I ended up getting home insurance from Geico for 1/2 what I was paying at USAA...that's a big difference ($800 a year difference), same coverages.
  5. wow, I just did the insurance thing today too...after 3 hours on the phone (I hate that:crying:) I finally switched my motorcycles to progressive. I was paying $340 for 6 months through USAA on my 02 Vstar (full coverage). Now I'm paying $360 for the YEAR for BOTH bikes for full coverage...I'm not sure if they screwed up, but it sounds good to me! I'm in CO, so that might make a difference???
  6. New 2nd Gen RSV owner. Just picked up a 2006 RSV but the side stand is bent. I need to replace it and some other members recommended I post here to see if anyone who has converted their scoots to a trike might have a side stand laying around they need to "dispose" of. If you have one you want to get rid of, please let me know, I would be very grateful. Thanks, Mike:thumbsup2:
  7. You never paddled me! I was the perfect child:2143:...Any trouble I got into was as a result of my parents just not understanding what it's like to be a kid...At least that's what your grand daughter keeps telling me!
  8. That's a great idea. Hopefully one of them will see my ad or read this thread...I'd rather give a few dollars to someone here than to a faceless dealer or supplier...
  9. Anyone in the Colorado Springs/Denver area have recommendations for someone that can mount/balance tires and do other basic maintenance on my '06 RSV? I'm a new owner to this bike and haven't had to do too much on my v-star since I've been in this area...I hate the high prices of the dealer and would rather go to an experienced, smaller shop or something. Services I'm currently looking for (over the next couple of months): Replacing front tire Replacing kickstand 20,000 mile services Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  10. I'm not quite clear on what happened to the sidestand. I just bought the bike today and I think the guy was hauling it in a horse trailer, didn't tie down good, and it moved and bent the kickstand....They "modified" it by adding about 2 inchs of a metal block welded to the bottom of the stand. This puts the bike back up to the right angle and I wouldn't care about it if it was just the looks...but even a moderate left lean will scrape the stand since it now doesn't go fully up. So I find myself slowing down on any left turn enough to basically take the turn upright...not good! So I'm doubt the stand is covered under the warranty and I'll have to find another...
  11. That's okay! I'm now a PAID member!
  12. Figured it out. I'm still in my "trial" period so I don't have access to post yet. Guess I need to fess up my $12!
  13. Sorry for posting here, but new to the site and trying to figure it out. I just bought an 06 Venture that needs a new kickstand. I was trying to post it in the Classified section but couldn't figure out how to post a new ad. I couldn't find a little button that said something like "post new thread" or anything. Any help for a noob would be great...and if anyone reading this has a kickstand in good condition they are trying to get rid of, please contact me! Thanks
