  1. Hmmmmm...........decisions, decisions.......what to do??
  2. I guess having yours converted isnt an option because you want to have both, kinda like me. Good luck, I gave up on looking, was having a hard time selling mine so I gave up and got another VStar 1300 Tour. Good luck with your search.
  3. I carry a Glock 32 Gen4 357 sig about 95% of the time but sometimes I carry my Kahr CM45 if I am working in my yard since its smaller and lighter than my Glock. I use to carry my S&W SD9 VE which is identical in size to the Glock 32.
  4. Sorry to say but with everything that has been going on Charlene and I have decided to cancel the last Vogel and do as we always did and skip a year, so Vogel X will happen next year 2021. Hopefully next year will be more normal than 2020 has been. We wish everybody the best in these troubled times.
  5. Dang, I just sold an xj650 Maxim a few months ago. It was a very nice one too, with low mileage.
  6. 89 would be a 1st gen Mkll. Second gen is 99 and up.
  7. Kinda ugly........just saying.......dont like the retro styling and the muffs are butt ugly.
  8. Well Don its good to know your doing better. I am still recovering from pneumonia after a 3 day stay in the hospital. They didnt give me the option of going home and I am glad they didnt. I didnt get tested for the virus because the xray clearly showed pneumonia and what complicated it was asthma. I couldnt walk 10 steps without stopping to catch my breath. I suffered at home from Thurs. till the following Mon before I succumbed to Charlenes urgings to go. I have been self quarantined for 5 weeks now. Hang in there and follow Eileens and the Dr's orders. I was told it takes 2-3 months to completely be gone from the lungs. At our advanced age we gotta be careful. Charlene and I will keep you and Eileen in our prayers. God Bless
  9. Went back and disconnected everything. Replaced the blown fuse and bingo everything was working again. Reattached all the accessory wiring to the aux. blocks installed on top of the air cleaner( Skydocs fuse block setup) and everything worked as it should and no blown fuse. So I guess I had a few too many attached to the battery which really isnt the right way to do it. But after beingg a member here since 2004 I am still learning the right way to do things on these bikes. Thanks for all the input, our members are the greatest.
  10. Having an electrical problem on my 93 Venture trike. Went out to start it and low battery. Hooked up my battery booster to start it. When I did the bike started cranking by itself without the key. Then I noticed my computer wasnt showing anything, fuel, battery nothing, it was illuminated only, tach wasnt working, turn signals werent working, no horn, no brake lights. I found a blown fuse for the signals but when I replaced it, it would blow as soon as I turned the key on. Also the hot wire leading to my fuse block was getting hot. I noticed when I disconnected the battery I would get a small spark, which I believe is indicating I have a short some where, but where should I start. Should I dissconnect all my asscessories from the battery and start from scratch?
  11. emergenc cu off swich pardon misspelling....comp on friz saddlebum;1072216]Do the simple checks first; Take a second lok at your wiring to be sure that you did not leave something disconnected. If it has the old glass fuses check them over including the fuse holders on the fuse block These get weak and corroded with age and since you had to move it to swap out the battery something may have gotten disturbed. Or something was already close to failure and moving it just finished it off. If you find this is the issue and the fuse block is pooched don't just replace it. But upgrade to one of the mini blade ATM fuse blocks. Very common to find in the electrical section of Marine equipment stores but also available from car parts stores and amazon. Marine stores tend to have a better selection so you can customize your hook up with additional fuses for accessories you may want to add. There is also a master fuse tucked in down along the left side of the battery with it's own wire connection to the battery. It tends to drop out of sight when replacing the battery and can be easily overlooked. also check and make sure it did not blow during your battery exhange. Check all the eyelets, they can develop corrosion in the insulation close to the eyelet and once disturbed can break clean. A simple test is just to pull the cables, the insulation will stretch if the wire, usually close to the terminal, is broken. Don't be afraid to give it a good pull, if the wire is sound you will not be able to hurt it. Try removing the plugs. crank the engine over without the plugs, Make sure you ground all the spark plug cable ends to prevent electrical damage to the coils. Then put in a fresh set of plugs. Its possible because you only ran it into the garage then tried to start it right after that she got flooded. If all this checks out then you will need to look deeper. Sticky float needles can cause flooding, Imn most cases if this happens you will smell raw gas.
  12. Come on down and enjoy our southern hospitality and have some fun. Look forward to the yankee invasion.
  13. Here is the link to the pictures take while we were riding the Skyway. https://xtremesportsphotography.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=0QAK03G7090096&po=95&pc=120
  14. After all the riding we did on my 93 Venture trike and following behind Motorcycle Mike on his RSV trike, we both decided that it might be time for an upgrade. Will be looking during the off season when hopefully the prices drop. Prefer a used 2nd gen, but it the right deal comes along a GW trike would work. They both sit much lower to the ground and both have IRS. The hunt is on. I will be posting my 93 trike in the classifieds in the very near future.
  15. Another Vogel has come and gone and even though a small turnout, it was a fantastic time with all regulars to the event. Half of the group was camping in the park and the other half stayed at the Seasons Inn in Blairsville. This was our first time staying at the Seasons Inn and enjoyed staying there. The cabins at the park were recently remodeled and the rates reflected it. The owners at the motel are very biker friendly and accommodating. We ate several meals at a local restaurant, Cooks Country Rest. and it was very very good. Thursday we rode up to Brasstown Bald and had some great views of several states. Friday we started early and rode hwy 180 down to Suches and then over to Helen for some very good food at the Troll House. After we ate we wandered around Helen to some of the shops, the one we all like was the free wine tasting in one of the shops. Returned to Blairsville and had late lunch/early dinner at Rib Country where we encountered some difficulties ordering and receiving correct orders. But it ended with full stomachs and nap time for some. Saturday we went down to Ducktown and visited Field in the Woods and toured this wonderful biblical shrine. From there it was over to Cherahola Skyway for Charlene's first ride there. This was the first time she has ridden any long distance rides at any Vogel, and she had a great time and wasn't too worse for wear after all the riding, she managed to ride every day with me. Made it much more enjoyable for the both of us. Joe encountered a little mechanical difficulty with his bike on the way back to the park, but he made it and had it fixed fairly quick, we later all gathered at Woody and Katrina's campsite for a second nite of winetasting and storytelling. We all toasted our members who recently passed, YammerDan, MasterGuns, and BongoBob. It was a good time and the libations were excellent. Thanks to all who made this a very successful event. Even though I had posted this was the last Vogel, Skid's wife Leslie convinced me to end it with Vogel X, which she promised to attend, so stay tuned for further info on that.
  16. Thank you Craig. We made a lot of great memories over the years. I was able to stand up at his memorial and pass on some things that we did. Some were serious but the last was a very funny one about an incident that happened one day while we were riding our motorcycles. It brought smiles and laughs out of everyone, because he never told anyone about it, not even his sister. It was a hardest thing I ever had to do, but I made it through. I know I would have regretted it if I hadnt done it. It enabled me and others to remember him in better times. Hope all is well with you and yours.
  17. Thanks Don. I just went to the memorial page and scrolling through it I realized how precious life and friends are. There are many on that page that I met over the last 14 years as a Venturerider that I would not have the honor of knowing. I met most of them at Vogel, many were frequent visitors there and met some at your MD. I have fond memories of all of them. The rest I knew from the forum where they told stories or helped others with a problem, never did any of them leave me feeling like I didnt know them personally. Venturerider.org has been a life changing event for me, and others, because without it life would be so much different and probably boring. Thank you for enabling this family of great people to remember the ones that have gone before us.
  18. How does everyone feel about doing Vogel check in at the Seasons Inn? We arent staying at the park this year and dont really have any functions happening there. I know some are camping there, and some staying at the Inn. This is really an informal event this year and sorry to say will be the last event Charlene and I plan on hosting. Thats not saying if some want to go next year or thereafter we would probable attend but its gotten a little much and we really want to sit back and enjoy our time, thats not saying we didnt enjoy all the others but by the time we left on Sunday to return home we were wasted from doing so much. We had a lot of great help but we decided its time to slow down, especially since Charlene cant ride as much and I havent been out much in the past 2 years. But we will try to make this one another memorable event like all the others. I just hope we can do as will with this one ass Dana and Missy did last year in our absence. Any input would be greatly appericated. Thanks to everyone for making all the past Venturerider Vogel events special!!
  19. Any idea what time you will be arriving? Charlene and I are staying there too. We plan on being there between 11-12:00. Looking forward to seeing you again Mr Mayor.
  20. So sorry to hear of your problems Don, but as we get older things happen. Will pray for a good outcome for your tests and hopefully the docs can get you straightened out. I am beginning to feel the same way about riding, havent done much at all this year or last. I too am thinking about getting rid of my trike as it just sits in the garage gathering dust. I think I have put maybe 500 miles at best in the last two years and I hate to see it go to waste. Charlene is still not able to do any long rides like she used to and it kills her not to be able to ride like we used to. I will likely keep my 81 650 Maxim just to ride around the neighborhood for some cycletherapy but long distance is likely out. Keep the faith and hang in there. We are all pulling for our Freebird.
  21. Received some sad news today. My oldest friend of 63 years passed. We grew up together from the age of 6, we did everything together, good and bad. His sister contacted me this morning bearing this news. I am saddened by this, and it makes me realize how special old friendships are. He still lived in La. where we come from but we saw each other a couple of times a year. He was divorced for many years and earlier this year his mom passed which was hard on me also as I regarded and loved her as my second mother. I dont think he ever got over it, he was her caretaker during her illness. He also introduced me to my wife way back in 1971. This makes me realize that I need to keep in touch with more of my old friends.
  22. Your are so right Randy, we had a good run for all those years time to move on to something new and exciting. This will be #9 Vogel, so hoping for a good turnout. We are staying at the Seasons Inn this year. Cabins have gotten way to expensive. But we will be set up at the park on Wed to welcome everyone.
  23. Not many RSVP's on the calendar, so if you could possible respond to this post it would be appreciated. Only have 6 as of right now. If you want to experience Vogel this will be the last event that the wife and I will be hosting. Getting difficult to get vendors to donate items for auctions, turnout has been down for the last 3 events so going to re-direct my efforts to something else. Will still be a VR member but not quite as active as before. So come on out and pass a good time with us. Here are a few pics from previous Vogels to give you an idea of what to expect.
  24. Carl, I have 2 very nice 2nd gen mufflers sitting in my shop. Thought I would use on my 1st gen trike, but decided not to. Make me an offer with shipping included.
