  3. Ask Freebird to change my user from captainjoe to Easy Rider. In the movie, Peter Fonda loves riding his bike on a quest to "Look for America." That's kinda how I feel. Although I don't do the marijuana... LOL
  4. lowes dosen't suck but its younger employees "that have never had to build something " don't have a clue...LOL When I go into ANY STORE and need help I always pick someone my age(50's) to ask. Don't waste your time asking a twenty something because more times than not their eyes will glaze over or worse yet get that I really can't be bothered look...
  5. I figured as much for Illnois, Washington D.C.,New York city but the entire state of New York????? Guess I won't be going there until they change those ludicrous laws... Someone licensed to carry should be able to travel freely thru all states and be able to have it in their motel room along with castle doctrine. As far as the police having 7 shots instead of 10, I feel its a stupid law and shouldnt apply to anyone. It's just as stupid to require Police and federal agents to leave their weapons at work, but, sometimes think things would change for us all if the gov. tried to. Then it would sink in just how stupid these laws are. Theres a Pediatric Dr. ben Carson also a preacher that is trying to get messages out. He can articulate things in a way I've not seen before. In relation to gangs and violence. I hope he goes far. Now I' confused: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_New_York Non-resident travel through N.Y. New York state law provides restricted exceptions for interstate transportation of firearms by non-residents. Non-residents may transport through New York state any lawful firearm to any place without New York where an individual may lawfully possess and carry such firearm. While in transit within New York state, the firearm must be unloaded. The firearm and any ammunition for it must not be easily accessible by anyone in the vehicle's driver or passenger area. For example, the gun and ammunition must be kept in the storage area of the vehicle, such as a car's "trunk." In vehicle's without a storage area separate from the driver or passenger compartment, the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.".[ Federal protections New York State is of particular concern to interstate motorists who travel with firearms, because New York separates all of New England from the bulk of the United States. This means that under the Firearm Owners Protection Act, all people traveling through New York City and New York state with firearms are protected by federal law, however they must have their firearms unloaded and locked in a hard case where they are not readily accessible (e.g. in the trunk of a vehicle).[
  6. Does that apply to out of reach weapons and ammo in seperate locked boxes?
  7. You must first identify where everything is ?... THINK ABOUT IT! Just don't think to long... Hitler did the same thing... And we all know how that ended.
  8. You've got at least 369 days Dan... Get crackin!
  9. So......Jeff,.... When you officially retire... I'm guessing your gonna want to ride to Key West..... Perhaps we could get a group together next March,2014??? Whadya think Yammer, leo, Mike , Steve, Ventureriders? Only thing I'm asking of you is, no Ebay transactions while riding your bike...LOL I'm up for it...
  10. It's nice that there is some consistancy left...
  11. Bought my daughter a Rurger .380 LCP with lazer for Christmas. was about $500 with 2 boxes of shells..
  12. John, Best of luck with those Avons. It seems odd that dunlop or any other tire for that fact, doesn't have a sidewall cracking problem like Avon? i've had tires sidewalls crack on my vehicles but only after sitting outdoors in the direct sunlight. Just keep a close eye on them. Be safe.
  13. +1 on that...
  14. I've got a WV state CCW. pretty much allows me to carry concealed in most of the states that I want to go to...LOL
  15. Mike i noticed now you also have to have the ammo in alocked box? what? HuH?
  16. just added this to the first post: Transporting weapons across state lines: http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/articles/2010/guide-to-the-interstate-transportation.aspx
  17. Ill. is a Right Denied: States that are Right Denied DO NOT allows private citizens to carry handguns and do not issue concealed weapon permits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in non reciprocal you can transport your weapon, provided it is out of reach, in a locked box and seperated from it's ammo.... (see NRAs link below for exclusions) I've carried for years and been to just about every state. Sometimes you have to lock it up though. That doesnt mean I don't take it into my motel at night for protection. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  18. Ruger Security Six, 3" barrel., fl. orange sights 357 MAGNUM Stainless Steel, Ribbed Barrel with Packmeyer grips Factory hollow points with 2 speed loaders Definately packs a punch....LOL That's what I'd get ... If... I felt the need for a weapon... But I don't, I have absolute confidence the police will be able to protect my family and I... So why waste the money?
  19. Thats hilarious! Wouldnt worry about the 650 Vstar Yamaha. I rode across the country to Washington state and back on mine with zero problems. the two I was with rode "ultra classics" and were very impressed with it. Just so happens I had to ride to cheynne and back to laramee? to get parts for his 3 month old Harley... LOL He also had to ride bi-otch when we went to lunch.(bottomed the shock out once or twice on that trip). To be fair though he is the most down to earth guy you'd ever want to meet and has never knowcked another mans bike... Memphis shades makes some good quick detach windshields, I had one on mine. The wind will beat you to death heading west....
  20. Well, I test drove it at the dealership and hit a few(rather large) potholes on purpose. Les had put 30psi in rear shock, and worked on it for two hours.found no problems. It didn't bottom out once. So you nailed it Brian. Thanks! Any way, I'm satisfied the shock is good and it will be one less worry for my cross country trip this summer to Washington state and points south... Shout out to Big Four Motorsports of Marietta Ohio... they didn't charge me a dime,
  21. Actually if it took out that bunch in Maryland, it would be doing us a favor...
  22. We always hit the area in June. Was told by the business owners in Sturgis that the week before and the week after the rally are getting as bad as rally week. I hate crowds... so you won't see me anywhere near that place in late July early August. Taking a motorhome is gonna set you back a couple thousand... You could do a lot of motels for that...IMHO
  23. Speaking of NO MO did you see where MO. they introduced a bill where they will make you turn in your weapons or you go to jail. MInn. is heading in the same direction. The silet majority better get off its ASS.
