  1. If wind buff is the issue I'm not sure if new seat would help. Any adjustment to passenger seat that would raise her might make it worse. If you're happy with your seat and she likes her seat, just not the air, my suggest is new x-large / wide windshield. I like the F-4 custom. Great product and customer service. If you also decide on new seat, I would also recommend Russell Day Long. Will custom build for both of you. Not cheap but a great product.
  2. I'm surprised the tourmaster won't work. The tail may not slide all the way down behind the windshield mounting screws, but on mine goes down enough that the windshield will pinch the bag to the dash and it should hold fine. I have a different brand but very similar. Been on for the last 50k with no issues.
  3. I talked w my dealer last month. At that time he said not in sept. Think there is some dealers meeting later this year and he may get more info then. His opinion is we will get a new model next year, but who knows.
  4. I've looked at this and plan on using at next tire change. My question is, has anyone noticed a change in tire mileage? My thinking is it might help.
  5. Just getting home myself. Stuck around waiting for the rain to stop so late start. Good news was got home dry. Good to see everyone and a good time.
  6. Not sure what to think. I looked at weather.com this morning they said 80% chance of rain sat / sun. Just looked again and it says 10%. If I get to choose, give me 10% and let's have a great day riding!
  7. Not sure, but my guess is it will not work without some type of adapter like the carbon one adapter as it will not fit between the exhaust pipes to just hit the frame. IE, it's to wide to make contact with just the frame without hitting the pipes.
  8. I've looked at it before and think it looks like a good jack. Always wish I had bought one when they came out a few years ago as I think they were closer to $100 but everything has gone up. FYI, I do not believe you can use the 20% off coupon on floor jacks ( that's the way I read the fine print.)
  9. I would test the RTB controller to make sure it's working. If you have a simple test light, I'ld test both going in and out of the controller. Hopefully the disconnect plug under the seat is still there which is a very easy place for first test spot. Might help isolate the area of the problem.
  10. I'ld consider Day-Long. Very happy with mine and think most people who have them are. Some think they are pricey, but I think a great value if you want to be comfortable on long rides.
  11. F4 tall / wide. Had it for 4 years and still looks like the day I put it on. Over 30,000 miles with the tall. I also have a short tinted one from F4 with over 10,000 miles I use when solo riding. Also very good people to work with and I believe they are the best.
  12. You can get at any ace or other hardware store which keeps metric bolts. I actually changed mine to stainless regular SHCS as I hate button heads when hidden for normal sight. Also went slightly longer to make it easier to put back together.
  13. You can buy just the hardware kit on eBay. Item 171245522259 I think. $22 + 5 shipping. I lost one of mine so bought the kit and parts were fine. Plan on keeping spare for when I loose the next one. Good luck with it
  14. Totally agree. Had the pillow top for several years and liked it the first few years. Then it seemed to 'go bad' and wasn't comfortable. Sent to Russell Day Long for re-work. Couldn't be happier. Some may not like the way the Day Long looks, but I'm most concerned with comfort. For long rides you'll never regret having a Day Long seat.
  15. Got my 14.5 tinted F-4 w/o vent in Aug. Got it installed right before a trip and have over 6000 miles with it. I agree and love the tint. I had the oversized f-4 on for the past 4+ years. These are fantastic and yes cleaning is very easy. I use whatever towels the station supplies, wet the first one with the stations wash to clean, then dry with a couple more towels. Works great. I really liked the oversized shield except it kills fuel mileage. Since I normally ride alone decided to go smaller. Fuel mileage went up 4-5 miles per gallon, sometimes more depending on speed. Don and everyone at F-4 are always very helpful and is a great supplier. In my opinion have the best product out there. You won't regret this purchase.
  16. Lots of information out there on seats. May depend on what type of riding you do. Stock seats are not to bad for short rides. I had a pillow top on mine which I really liked the first three years. After that it seemed like it changed and wasn't as comfortable after 300 or 400 miles a day. In Aug this year I finally went to a Day-Long and although I only have about 6000 miles on it, so far I'm very happy with it. They are built for long distance comfort, and I believe well worth the money.
  17. Totally agree this is crazy. I'ld consider talking to the owner of the dealership. Any reputable dealer should not push that bike on in-experienced rider, and the salesman should be canned for recommending this. And yes I know the busa well. My 26 yr old son has one along with 8 or more other crotch rockets. He races both track and drag strip, is very experienced, and would still say the busa is a wild ride. Just touch the throttle at any speed and the front tire will come up.
  18. Plus one on the F-4. Mine is over four years and still great. If you want to look through the windshield, by far the best I believe. If you want very short and look over, then it's not as important.
  19. Sure some of the electrical guru's will chime in, but a couple of thoughts / questions... I think voltage should be at least 12 v assuming the engine is running while testing. Might be lower w engine off depending on condition and load on battery. I'ld look at wiring and check to see if it runs directly through the switch. Switches can go bad reducing voltage / current. Best way is to run these through a relay and fused directly to the battery. Use the switch to charge relay. I think there may be something in the tech library on doing this.
  20. Welcome to the zoo. If the noise stopped when you pull the clutch in at 70, I'ld start with the clutch basket. Someone asked, is the bike still under waranty? 5 years transferable to new owner from original sell date. Any dealer can run vin and tell you and Yamaha will pay for new basket if its under waranty. Most will suggest changing to the 'I basket'. If you search this site on this topic, you'll find enough threads to read all night. You are not alone as many have had this issue. These are great bikes, extremely reliable and the best bike for the money I know of.
  21. Second that, under much load, 55 mph is fourth gear to me, sometimes even third. If you have added a tach, keep it above 3,000 rpm. To give you an idea, next time you get on interstate, take it all the way to the rev limiter in second or even better third gear. It has a rev limiter and this won't hurt them, most think its good for them, and it also increases the fun factor. As most here will say, Ride it like you stole it!!!!
  22. A little off your question, but you might consider buying one already done. I don't know the bike or if its still available, but there is a Hannigan listed in our classified you might want to check on. If you like it, it would be interesting to look at selling your RSV, buying that one, and riding now. How much difference in out of pocket money would there be?
  23. Zumo 665 with xm weather radar and xm service does it. Works very well for me and on longer rides worth every penny. Yes you do have to pay a monthly subscription. It's gone up a bunch in the last 4 years I've had it. I think around $20 per month for both xm radio and the weather radar service. Yes I think you could get the same thing on your smart phone, but the garmin works continuously while your riding and give alerts to changes and shows it right on the gps. Totally a personal thing, but if mine quite today, tommorow I'ld be looking for another one.

    seat

They are hard to find. I've been looking for a couple of months without much luck. I plan on sending drivers seat only to Day-Long for rebuild and new cover. Biggest issue is your without your seat a few weeks which is why I'm looking for one. Good luck, and if you find one let me know as I might be interested in your old one.
