  1. I have not rode a spyder but I have checked them out. After throwing my leg over and sitting for a few minuts I ruled it out. It was very uncomfortable to me. I think they have one now with a more up right sitting position. I already had my RSV set up where Shirley and I are both very comfortable so opted for the Hannigan conversion and couldnt be happier. Plenty of storage and the handling is superb. Cost for a full kit runs about $17000. http://www.hannigantrikes.com/products/yamaha-royal-star-venture-tour-deluxe-conversion/
  2. Don't knock it till you've tried it. I still have a nice VTX I've hardly looked at since converting the RSV. This thing is a lot of fun to ride. I miss laying the bike over in the turns as does Shirley but, did I say, this thing is a whole lot of fun. And nobody does a trike better than Hannigan.
  3. My battery took a dump on me Labor day. Luckily another rider at the motel had a mini battery jumper and got me going Tuesday AM so I could get to the shop and buy a battery. I bought 2 immediately. One for the bike and one for the car. http://www.amazon.com/Hot-sale-15000mAH-2013-Jump/dp/B00GX4Y9AY/ref=sr_1_7?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1445458765&sr=1-7&keywords=mini+battery+jump+starter
  4. Some of us actually ride our bikes, take them on vacation and such. I usually cover mine when parked outdoors over night. It never occurred to me that I could wash the cover.
  5. GO BRAVES! Wait.........what? Never mind.
  6. This is why I wait untill I've traveled about 30 miles after the low fuel light comes on. That insures I have room to hold the entire contents of the aux tank. If I forget to turn the pump off, the engine starts to sputter when air is injected into the fuel line.
  7. A new helmet maybe? Sorry the only thing I can think of is a seat mod. But then she may have a problem reaching the boards.http://www.wired.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/IMG_5062.jpg
  8. I wait untill I'm around 30 or so miles after the low fuel light comes on to make sure I have room, then just transfer the aux tank on the go. Welcome to world of three wheels. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
  9. It takes a little time to get comfortable on one when you've been riding on two for a while. Give it at least 1000 miles before you give up on it. I haven't rode my VTX since I converted the RSV. Love this thing.
  10. I went back and re-read it. I guess I'm used to people asking me about stability. Thanks for setting me straight.
  11. A common misconception. You'd have to try very hard to flip most trikes. I guess we ride for differant reasons. I'm keeping my knees in the breeze as long as I can.
  12. I didn't think I would care for a trike either but I was wrong. The RSV/Hannigan makes a great trike. It handles really, really good and is alot of fun. We do miss leaning in the curves tho. When faced with not being able to bring my bride along with me or just not ride, the decision got real easy.
  13. Take a look at this. http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/Pony-Powersports-Group-2926242/listing/2007-Yamaha-XVZ13-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-TRIKE-115895130
  14. There was a time I chose bikes like that over anything else. I miss those days.
  15. Service manuals here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?1828-Download-the-Owners-and-Service-Manuals
  16. Yea, Shirley and I have both wondered what they were for. I figured it had something do do with aircraft tracking speed. Now I know. Thanks!
  17. People who blow their nose in restraunts. GO TO THE F#@*ing BATHROOM!!!
  18. Only A Grandmother would know Had to share… A Cup of Tea made with cold water. One day my Grandma was out, and my Grandpa was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys. Grandpa was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Grandma came home. My Grandpa made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Grandma waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Grandpa, and she watched him drink it up. Then she said, (as only a grandma would know), "'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"
  19. Have you tried contacting Hannigan? http://www.hannigantrikes.com/contact-us/
  20. Your MPG is going to take a noticeable hit. If I had to save money somewhere, I would forget the boards and reverse and go with the aux. tank. But yea, you can just carry a can or plan on more fuel stops. Whatever it takes to keep the knees in the breeze. You might consider one of the bolt on kits to save some dough but haveing rode with you and knowing how you like to get in it, I think you'd be happier with a "real" trike. The handling of my RSV/Hannigan is superb.
  21. Well, forget my suggestion to call Hannigan then. I stand by my suggestion to post your problem over on Trike Talk tho.
  22. I never let work interfere with a cold beer. Wish we were already there too.
  23. I would get in touch with Hannigan. Also loads of trike info at http://www.triketalk.com/forum/forum.php?. Maybe someone will have knowledge of your problem. You can contact Hannigan directley from the site too.
  24. Also, Hannigan will not sell to the public. They want there products installed by techs they train, but they stand behind their product 100%. There is no company with better customer service.
  25. You can do without reverse if your carefull how you park. I have the boards and reverse. I can back up with out reverse if I'm on level ground. If you pull in front wheel up hill it coast backwards easy. The boards make it hard to to reach the ground to push yourself backwards. There have been a hand full of times I was glad I got the reverse but I could have done without. In the end, no you dont NEED either one but I'm glad I got both. I do highly recomend the aux. fuel tank.
