I have a 2008 RSTD. No problem with the lights. Lights clear fairing 3/4" to 1".

Look at the Wide Open Customs Web Site. In the gallery there is a late model RSTD. Fairing comes with mounting brackets. I left the small glove box piece off of mine and pitched the fairing back to bring it closer to the handle bars. It sets about 3/4 inches high off the speedo. You can pitch it anywhere you would like by adding an additional set of mounting holes to the top of the bracket.

My left lower fairing cracked on my 08 RSTD. What is interesting is that when I took the fairing off it had already been repaired 1 time. I bought this bike new. Dealer replaced under warranty but was unable to explain the condition of the cracked fairing. It looked like the standoff had broken and been glued back on. There were what looked like ultrasonic welds across the cracked area on the inside. I have pictures I took and sent to the dealer. They had no explanation.
