  4. Pretty impressive!!! Now maybe if he could get some laser pointers and sounds to emulate the mini guns and launch a couple of rockets he would REALLY have something...
  5. You bet your Bippy Randy!!! Type 2 diabetes is directly related to exposure to Agent Orange. I have peripheral neuropathy in all 4 extremities, have lost a toe, have early stage 3 kidney disease, and because I'm a hands on kind of guy I can't really work like I used to before...
  6. Thanks for the offer but we probably won't roll in until 8 or so, and I really don't feel like driving any further than I have to. We would have stayed at the Hampton in Pt. Huron but they want almost 200 per night as opposed to 100 in Chesterfield. I'll take you up on that maybe this summer when we trike over! Larry I'll send you a link to the Hampton Inn in a bit. It's just off the Interstate (94?) in Chesterfield around 16 mile road I think...
  7. Due to our exceptional luck, we are going to be arriving for the M&E Friday night. That way we will have time to visit my sister in West Bloomfield, and any of you that would like to drop by for a visit before or after the M&E. We will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Chesterfield off the Interstate on Marketplace Boulevard. The only 2 things that will change our plans are really bad weather or a funeral or some other emergency...
  8. Probably a few thousand Dan!!
  9. Thanks all for the kind thoughts! Yes I am very excited like bursting at the seams and just wanted to share!
  10. Becky and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary later this year and we are going to celebrate with a trip of a lifetime, a trip to Hawaii!!! Let me begin with when I retired. I retired at least a year earlier than I wanted to due to health reasons. As some of you know I have type 2 diabetes and it is service related so I was 60% disabled. Well, last year I put in for increased disability. Being retired took a big chunk out of our income and between finances, my health, and everyday issues I have been living with depression. Well, last week I got a letter from the VA and I am now declared 100% disabled effective the day I retired! So 2 days ago my bank account got a whole lot bigger from the back pay! With the increased monthly benefit my income is now what it was when I was working so life is good! So here's the deal on our vacation or 2nd honeymoon. We fly out of Buffalo to Honolulu. There we board a Norwegian cruise ship and spend the next 7 days island hopping. When we get back we are checking into a hotel on the beach and spending another 3 days there before coming home. The cool part being I now have the money and am paying for it today!! God is sooo good to us!!

  15. June 21, 1967 was the day I became government property. A couple of months before I had received my greeting letter from good old Uncle Sam. It was quite the moral decision to make living 20 minutes from the Canadian border but I chose to serve. After taking aptitude tests they offered me Radar Maintenance school but I had to sign up for an extra year. Figuring Viet Nam would be over in a year I took it. Didn't work out that way, after a year of school and another year in the Philadelphia area I missed Woodstock and spent my final year of service in Vietnam. Set free June 2, 1970. Thanks to all who have served and are serving and God Bless!!

  23. The MK1 Venture brakes sure are anemic to say the least! If you can change out the front forks then use calipers from an R1 or R6 for an improvement. At bare minimum replace your rubber brake lines with stainless steel lines. The rubber lines expand outward when you brake causing loss of braking. The SS flex lines do not expand anywhere near as much giving you more power to the caliper. With a little modification you can change your rear brake to a MK2 brake but you also have to change rotors and use the MK2 caliper mount. You have to design a sleeve on the caliper mount to make it work properly with the swingarm. Speaking of rotors, if you change out the front end you also have to use MK2 rotors and they are getting scarce...
  24. The '84 looks like less work but I would flush every fluid in it regardless and be prepared for petty little things to fix. The '83 would better be served as a parts machine, and torn down you are looking at around $1000 or so in parts but it takes forever to recoup your money. If it is 106K on it, for these engines that is finally broken in, these engines will do over 200000 miles and then some. Honestly you would be better served if you can find a MK2 as they have better brakes, and other improvements over the MK1. The MK2 is '86 - '93. They should not go for much more money than what you have seen. You will be hard pressed to find a touring bike that outperforms the Venture, especially in the price range you are looking at...
  25. Well, I tried nuking Antarctica to see if I could break off any ice and change the weather pattern, but all it does is give me some radii of heat, wind and radiation effects...
