  1. I'm going to throw my unsolicited dog into this hunt. Yes, the tires do have load ratings and so do the bikes. And these are some important numbers. But these are limits that the companies put on there to avoid being held liable for accidents that could come from abuse. And the ratings are a good guidline to go by when purchasing tires to make sure you are getting enough tire. But they are not the end all to deciding whether you should take your wife's second bag of make up.. If I packed my bike solely on the tire rating, my wife, trailer, and most of my gear would be left behind. (I could probably do without most of it) In my opinion, as long as you buy good quality tires (I prefer Metzler ), keep them properly inflated, don't run over something and ruin them, you will be OK on what ever tire you put on there.. Of course this is just my humble, and probably wrong, opinion.. (Yep, the wife says it's wrong)
  2. Thanks for the help fellas.. I've got the check in the mail... :mo money:
  3. The howling from the rear when you lean is your rear tire wearing down in the center. The answer to that is to lean more... LOL Mine does it when it gets close to the time to replace. That could be the noise you are hearing from your air box as well... It could be coming from your tire...
  4. Is Steve Wagner still an active member in here?? If so, what is his screen name?????
  5. Shaun, I may or may not be home, but if you get around Hopkinsville KY, please give me a call.. And "around" means within a couple of hunderd miles.... But for a ride like that, it will be food with the coffee.. LOL
  6. I'm sure someone else will chime in with some more info on this, but I ordered a set of LED driving lights that were around $40 each. I am sad to say that I cannot remember the site I ordered them from. The name "Green Boat" comes to mind, but don't quote me on that. I have not installed them yet, but they are direct replacements for our regular bulbs.. Several in here have done this and are happy with the results. I am going to get mine in while I'm home this time and see if I can't get some use out of them.. I also agree with using the LED brake lights and turn signals from Custom Dynamics, www.customdynamics.com. They work great and are much more visible than an regular bulb. Good Luck
  7. And the problem with that is?????? :dancefool:
  8. Naaaaaaaaaaa... She AINT near as pretty as Mini....

  10. It sure doesn't take long for these threads to go south.......
  11. I've got 70 K on my RSV and have run Metzler ME 880s ever since the first change without a single problem out of them. I'm an aggressive rider and they hold me real well when I lay her over in the curves...
  12. Clean the filler cap well and keep an eye on it. As long as the sludge is limited to the filler cap there is no reason for alarm. You are doing a good, routine maintenace, so there shouldn't be any cause for concern.
  13. Not me either, I guess you are the chosen one... :rotfl:
  14. Dan, from the topic I figured you had another BEAR experience. But then I guess you did. Only this time it was a BARE COUNTER experience...  Oh, the bananas are dancing cause they escaped the slaughter on Thankgiving day... :stirthepot: :stirthepot:
  15. Dave, you are just special.... :stirthepot:
  16. This is so true, but a picture, or video, is worth a thousand words. Or in this case dollars... I will continue to buy Wix for my equipment.... Dray, thanks for posting this....
  17. Any good quality coolant will be just fine. I buy the full strength, then dilute it 50/50 using distilled water. That is the only thing I do differently from my automobiles...
  18. Thanks for the reality check Squid...

Larry, where do you live? I live in Hopkinsville and shop up at Whittakers quite often. Good prices and great service. Maybe we can hook up, check out the guns, then ride to a meal. Later...
  20. There are great unvented gas heaters available. The best source of info is often times the local gas company. I just read your last post about not being able to go out the roof and had a thought. My sister has a gas heater that is installed in the basement, then has a small vent on the side of the house just under the first floor. If you have the room above ground level this might be an option..
  21. If you decide to stay with gas, you could run a new "chimney" using a 3" metal, double wall, vent pipe out the roof. This has been used for years with very little, or no, problems at all. The 3 inch vent pipe is inexpensive and lasts 20 to 30 years. I have installed it myself when I added a utility room and relocated the gas hot water heater. There are also unvented gas heaters available. The best source of info is often times the local gas company.
  22. If you can find a good quality 90W oil in the GL 3-4-5 listing, use it. That oil will take care of any type of gears you may encounter. The most important thing is good quality oil and regular maintanence...
  23. Sorry to bust your bubble, but you will NEVER get all of the old oil out. And that is the same for any engine you change oil in. There will always be a small amount of old oil left behind. Just keep up the regular maintainance and let her roll.... It has worked well work for every engine ever made, so there is not really any reason to change it now...
  24. Sadly Larry, it was me.. LOL I think he was hoping for a hot looking blonde that needed a riding partner. :rotf: Big D, It was great to meet you,,, But you sure do need some VentureRider stickers on that ride so people will know you belong somewhere...
  25. Oh,, Its much easier to do if you have a Carbon 1 lift adapter with legs. The bike is much steadier on the jack and you can let it down on the stand while you having the tires changed.....
