  1. Sounds to be like somebody was just trying to be fancy. I don't think I would like that either. They have to be using a series of relays or something.
  2. I honestly don't know. I have read of others using the 20W/50 but I never have. The Mobil 1 4T Racing tat I use is 10W/40 if I remember correctly. Some people like the heavier weight but it's not what is recommended for these bikes. That being said, I've not heard anybody complain about the heavier oil causing the problem that you are having.
  3. Folks, we need to get the food ordered for Maintenance Day so if you know yet whether or not you are coming, please go to the calendar and update your status. Right now we have 47 "YES" and 23 "Maybe". That makes it hard to know how much food to order. Please give it your best guess and update your status. 4. Thanks for trying. It's probably too large to attach. It can be downloaded from the Tech Library by supporting members.
  5. There are two fuse locations and both have a fuse that is related to the audio system. The first one is on the left side of the bike behind what most people call the side cover or battery cover. I'm attaching a picture of it. The second is inside the lower right cowling. It also has a fuse that will affect the audio system. I can't remember for sure but I think it is actually called a "backup fuse" or something. I'm attaching a picture of that location also. If you have the owners manual, that is where I got this information. I have personally found the fuse in the lower cowling to be the problem on a couple of bikes.
  6. For those who haven't upgraded yet, you CAN stop it from forcing the upgrade. You just have to go to the Windows update site and remove it. I honestly like it better than any windows version that I've used in a long time though.
  7. If those bars lose 4" of pullback, they are not for me. I liked the Flanders because they gave you MORE pullback. I like leaning back against the backrest and need the extra pullback. As for the bib, I'm almost certain that is one of the older/discontinued Hopnel bibs. They still make them for the RSV but not that same style.
  8. No, it was just a very small picture anyway. It was originally posted by @Ventureless and I thought that maybe he could add it to this thread but I just looked and him membership has expired.
  9. I still wonder about the cables also. I understand that you didn't change them but it causes me to wonder what you gained in height and especially in pull back.
  10. The pictures wouldn't get larger because that ad has long ago expired and shouldn't even have been available. Sorry. I have deleted that thread.
  11. WOW....you are opening up a can of worms. You'll get every opinion imaginable. A lot of people here use Rotella, some use Amsoil, some use just about everything else. The main thing is that you don't use a regular automotive oil with friction modifiers. They can cause your clutch to slip. I personally use nothing but Mobil 1 Racing 4T motorcycle specific but it's about $9.00 per quart and some think that is a waste of money. I love Mobil 1 though and use one version or another in everything I own.
  12. I don't know if it's your problem but I've certainly seen old/dirty oil make it harder to get the bike into neutral.
  13. No Bubs for me thank you. I got a set of Bubs with the bike. Traded them for a set of OEM RSTD mufflers like were on the '99 when you go it. Has the Harley mufflers on it now and they are LOUD. I'll enjoy them for a while and then put the RSTDs on it.
  14. I wouldn't hesitate to go 5,000 with the Mobil 1. Probably any other oil for that matter. I am moving all my vehicles to 5,000.
  15. There is no 3rd gen. Your 2007 is a second gen. Crash bars are 1". Handlebars are 1".
  16. Well @Yammer Dan , I appreciate you posting your list. It allowed me to compare where I'm at. The following are the only things that I don't have yet. Not sure I'll do them all but here it is: Baron's brake reservoir mounted tach (must have sooner or later) SpeedoHealer (will do at some point) Galfer SS Clutch line (someday. 2" over) Flanders Bars (someday) Barnett SS Throttle cables (someday 2" over) VMAX Rear End (not sure yet, maybe someday) Sonic Front Springs (when I need them. That is a lot of work)
  17. Never did it on the '99. Never had that problem. So I probably won't unless I see some signs of a problem.
  18. It's got to be there somewhere. It it was missing before, it would have been leaking.
  19. Oh ABSOLUELY!!!
  20. Are you making an offer?
  21. Well, I can add something else now. A set of slowrollwv's polished stainless lower wind deflectors and brackets are on the way.
  22. I don't think there is a problem at all changing oil brands. Whatever you decide should be fine. You know that I am biased towards the Mobil 1 and that is what I'll be putting in the '05 but I certainly understand people who think that spending that much on oil is crazy. They are probably right.
  23. Looks like you are doing a great job. It will be interested in hearing your final report in regards to the sound. I will be VERY interested in seeing how you end up installing larger speakers.
  24. Well Eileen and I are desperately trying to get the yard all ready for maintenance day but this weather is making it very difficult. I got a bit of weed eating done today and then tried to mow the part of the yard that's not too wet. Mowed for about 30 minutes and then it started snowing...then sleeting...then hail....then I gave up and called it a day.
  25. Max picture size is 1024 x 768 and no more than 200,000 bytes. As for the bars, do they have more pull back also? I assume you had to change the throttle, clutch and brake lines?
