  1. The only difference is the color and the Midnight has some extra chrome. All parts are interchangeable.
  2. Yes, I manually clear it from time to time.
  3. LOL....no problem.
  4. Eileen and I got on the bike around 1:00 today and rode down to Salk Fork State Park. We were by there a few years ago but really didn't remember and were just checking it out to see if it is a place that we wanted to explore on the Waverunners. Really a nice place. We had a late lunch there at the resort and then headed back home. We got back home around 8:30 and rode about 270 miles round trip. It was a bit hot on the way down but nice on the way home. I tell you folks, I just am not enjoying riding as much as I used to. Been riding since I was about 14 years old and it's always been a big part of my life but something is missing now. Have any of you gone through this and then had the passion return?
  5. Not a bad suggestion but I have to say that I've been fairly adventurous when it comes to trying different foods. Having traveled a lot of this world, I've always been willing to try local dishes that aren't even available in North American and have often been pleasantly surprised.
  6. I have not had any further problems accessing the site since I posted this just after making some configuration changes to the server. It was a sporadic problem though. Have any of you had any issues?
  7. Thanks.
  8. Will be saying our prayers for you also my friend. Hope you get the desired results. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
  9. Thanks Heather. Will check them out.
  10. It does have the tank badges. Just removed them when we got home in preparation of staring the sanding and etc. Also pulled the front fender this morning and going to get it prepped for paint. Probably just try to do as nice a rattle can paint job on it as we can. He just wants it all gloss black. Other than a good deal of sanding on the tank, it should look ok. Thought about just making some side covers out of sheet metal or something. We'll see. Would buy a used set if we can find some reasonably priced. Turn signals aren't working so I'll have to figure that out. Mechanically it is all good. Carbs have been gone through and rejected due to the pod filters. Tank is very clean inside with no apparent rust. Brakes are all good and it shifts very well. Just need to try and get some of the ugly off it.
  11. Sprockets are great Puc. Must be the camera angle or something. Front and rear are nice and square on the teeth.
  12. That would be great. Still looking on Ebay but haven't found anything yet.
  13. Dang thing had a top speed of 131 MPH in stock configuration. 14. Not sure what to think about this. I had a few bikes around here when he was younger but he never took an interest. A Honda CT70, Bearcat, CT90, etc. He road them around the yard a few times and that was it. Suddenly, he wanted a bike. I felt a bit hypocritical but did everything I could to talk him out of it. I even told him that if he would not buy it that I would give him as much money as he was going to pay for it to put in his checking account so basically he could save his money and even double it. Nothing worked. So I went with him today to pick up his bike. I told him it is about the ugliest bike I have ever seen but it didn't faze him. The good news is that it has been gone through mechanically and runs like a top. It may run TOO good. Would certainly not be my recommendation for a first bike. He has promised to take the riders course though and to practice around here on the back roads for a while. Obviously the bike is FAR from stock. It is bobbed out. May be best that way because he can't be carrying a passenger on it. So, we will start stripping it down and putting new paint on it. Have to find some side covers also. I guess it started out as an '82 750 Nighthawk. As ugly as it is, I have this strong desire to put a huge knobby tire on the back and take it hill climbing. I guess I've gotten too old for that though..
  15. I think I'm going to like the Russell. Haven't taken a long enough trip to say for sure but so far, so good. As for the chrome side covers, just not really a fan of them. I'm about done with the chrome now. Pretty happy with the amount that it has on it.
  16. I always agreed with Bob but apparently Yamaha doesn't. One of the bikes, don't remember which one, comes with a radial on one end and a bias on the other.
  17. LOL......not to that point yet.
  18. I just want to thank the following vendors for their generous prized donations for Maintenance Day. 19. After about a dozen people remarking at MD that they were needed, I added the very last accessory to the '05 Midnight. This is IT though....NOTHING ELSE. well.....except for maybe the crash bar mounted wind deflectors...but THAT'S all. NOTHING ELSE. Those rider floorboards do look kind of out of place now though.....
  20. Well, I emailed Bushtec and they recommend 12" - 14" ride height. I guess the Boss Hoss sat a lot lower in the rear because he had the pin mounted so that the hitch raised it instead of dropped it. I had tried reversing it because it looked like it would be too low but I did so and it appears to be OK now. Looks to be about 12 1/2 to 13" and the trailer sits pretty level. Just looks like more drop that I remember having on the '99 and I had the leveling links on both bikes.
  21. Haven't ever looked into that. I think that I've seen bolt on extenders somewhere but nothing I ever looked into.
  22. I agree with Jeff. You aren't going to run the battery down for the short amount of time that you use a horn.
  23. The ball mount that I got with my Bushtec trailer has too much drop for the RSV. The guy used it on a Boss Hoss trike and had it made for that bike. So, unless I can talk @Yammer Dan out of the one that was on the bike I sold him, I will need to find a new one. Can somebody tell me what the correct drop is for the ball mounts for the RSV? I'm tagging @Carbon_One on this also because he probably knows since he made the hitch. Thanks
  24. Pretty cool but I think that the saddlebags on a touring bike would block the lights and make them pretty much useless.
  25. Finally got around to installing the @Carbon_One leveling links on the '05 this morning. Had them on the '99 and knew that I would eventually put them on the '05 and decided to go ahead and get it done. Easy enough job. Love that the bike is sitting level as it should.
