Reading through the Service Manual, it says that the "Compression Pressure" should be 15.2 Bar (1520 KPa). According to my handy, dandy converter that works out to 220 PSI. That can't be right can it? Or are they talking about something else?

That's what I see as well. Now that is at 175rpm with throttles wide open. 220 makes sense I think.

Thank you so much Marcarl, for your kind words.   Because I've always believed that too much of a good thing is almost enough, I have contacted my ham radio buddy to see if he has some insight to this spark issue.  While I wait for his input, I thought I might find inspiration from the Government to help me in my time of need:    My plan going forward...

    1)  Appoint a diverse commission to study the black box that must include persons with degrees in Horticulture, Philosophy and Art History.

    2)  Get a statement from an economist to prove a motorcycle that does not run is better than one that does because the money not spent on gas and insurance improves the household bottom line.

    3)  Wire together several dead black boxes to increase the amount of sparks I'm not getting.

    4)  Re-register the motorcycle as " operationally impaired "  so I can get a handicap sticker and a rebate on the registration.

    5)  Go on a diet to see if the bike will become faster when I loose weight.

    6)  Get my neighbors to push the bike up a hill, then coast down the hill in front of reporters to prove that it's all better now that I fixed it.

    7) Go on a visit to foreign countries ( with Tiki Bars and wide beaches ) to study other people with their broken motorcycles.

😎 Modify motorcycle performance standards so motorcycles that do not run are as cool as ones that do.

You can stick around, if for no other reason than for your in-depth MC research and knowledge.

  3. Yep! I knew this time was coming. I'm more of a futurist rather than an historian, and we all get older and loose some of the things we hold dear. Loosing the leadership of this site would be a real downer for you Don, you've done a wonderful job of keeping things on track and moving. Those of us who are or have been members can be nothing but super thankful in being able to share together, guide each other, feel sorrow and happiness, develop friendships and help out with misunderstandings. Through your dedication a lot was accomplished. I, for one, would hate to see this site go down or anywhere else, but I also full well realize that all things will come to an end.

Blessings my friend, as you dig through this one, it won't be an easy task. Seek much guidance from the Leader, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Thank you for the add. By way of introduction, I am now 72 years young and have been riding since about 19. I rode a 1999 RSV which I purchased in '01 for several years and was mostly a "lurker" here.  Around 140K miles later I decided that a Goldwing would work better for my needs at the time. I'm not sorry for the trade, the Wing served me very well, but I could never comfortably hang for the entire day like I could on the RSV. A few months ago a buddy offered me his RSV which had been in storage for at least 5 years, so I jumped at the chance to "get back home" on my true first love. So here I am, lurking in the shadows again.

    Welcome

So, my owners manual for my 2005 tour deluxe came up missing after my wife went on a cleaning frenzy last year. Is that grounds for divorce?

Nope, nothing is grounds for divorce. Except infidelity. It must be your fault though for some reason, she'll probably know the reason, or come up with one.😀

  7. First off, the only way to get air out of the MC is through the banjos or the caliper. The other bolts hold the MC in place.

Procedure without seeing it, like right personal type thing kind of.
Make sure you have fluid in the reservoir and that the hose leading to the MC isn't kinked, this would assure you have fluid available for the MC. Next loosen off one or the other banjo bolts and then pump the MC slowly. You should get fluid in one or two pumps. Don't rush this, the fill hole in the MC isn't a pipeline. Once you have fluid proceed as per previous. If you don't get fluid, remove the reservoir and MC, first to make sure fluid gets to the MC and if that be the case to rebuild the MC, or just thoroughly give it a cleaning. In doing so, if you find that there is corrosion in the MC, rebuild it or replace it. New ones are not available from Yamaha but could be elsewhere.

Post back for more info,,, we don't mind one bit,,,, maybe 2 bits, but not 1 bit.

That seal on the stator wires is probably the culprit. The only way I know of to fix it is to pull that cover, romove the wires/seal from the case, clean the area and seal/wires thoroughly with alcohol and seal it back in place with RTV.

Maybe a correcton?: Clean with alcohol and seal with sillycone.?

We are the only active ones???

Ben might not like that either.

“Only members in this area”. Forget to use your spectacles again?😁 You and Ben and anybody else wants to make the trip can join in.

My bad,,,, when you live in S. Ontario it's hard to remember that there are other areas. Enjoy the ride together.
