Thanks, That sounds worth a try unless someone has something a little less harsh. Any particular brand of carb cleaner?
I use CTC but that's Canadian,, don't think you can get it in the US, You'll have to go trial and error, I hope no ererrors.

I went to a seat fixer guy and showed him my seat. He said for $300.00 he would replace it, but had no ideas on how to clean it, other than the saddle soap, any kind of soap, or maybe in tough cases some kerosene.
Well I tried them all and then some. Nothing would touch that crud on my seat. Then I got desperate. Thought to myself, If I have to spend $300 on this seat I'll ruin it first. Sprayed it with carb cleaner and pronto off came the crud. I was very careful not to spill any on the paint or other parts, Immediately I coated it with a product called the Tannery (armourall) and so far I plenty happy. I think it left the vinyl softer and it doesn't show any damage so far, that's about 2 months ago. Do I recommend it? I'd say take your chances, but that's what I did with mine and I would do it again.

I don't know if this helps, but...I have a '83 Venture Standard. I installed a Uniden 520xl. I made a "push-to-talk" push button that activates a relay, that I wired into what used to be the microphone push to talk button ( I removed the hand held microphone, and used the wires). So my headset microphone goes to what used to be the handheld microphone wires ( thru the usual headset plugs ), and the Uniden's external speaker jack goes to my headset speakers. I used to have a handbar switch that would switch from the headset speakers to a small external speaker on the handlebars, but I removed it since I always use the headset. I also hooked up another headset plug for the rear seat, with another push to talk button, and made the speaker connections in series. That means both me and my wife can hear incoming, and hear what the other is transmitting. So we use the CB as an intercom, by just going to an empty channel, and using each of our own push to talk buttons to transmit to an empty channel, but the other can hear the transmission, so it is our intercom, but we have to be careful because out intercom talk is actually being transmitted to an empty channel.
Interesting setup, might try it if I don't have any luck going throught he bikes intercom. Thanks

My CB has an external speaker jack, and my scoot's radio has a CB input, so it should be fairly simple for someone who knows, and that's where I don't get it.

I'm not to smart when it comes to electronics, but logic tells me that this should be possible.
I have an 85 VR with the radio\cassette, and intercom but no CB. I also have a Uniden Pro 510xl CB with a Mic-Master 'hands free' mic attachment that gives me the push to talk button. (these are used by truckers, mic on the ear, PTT on the gear shift, and takes the place of the mic on the CB).
Can I wire all this into the bike amp to make it work through the intercom speakers and mic?

Her volume was turned up, but what should the IC volume be set at on the control? I looked back over the book and I can't remember what I had it set on. I was trying to get ready for a ride Sat. morning and was working in the dark Friday nite. Also, if you remember a few months back I made a comment about how cool a Venture would be with twin Hyperchargers,,,. Well,,, I've got a friend that is a 2-wheel speed junky, and also owns a machine shop. He says if I buy 'em, he'll make 'em work!! It may not be this winter's project, but at least I've got somebody to help with fabbing up parts. Guess I'd need to see if it'll affect the warranty too? Thanks for the help Don.

Fortunately for me the first time I forgot to put the kickstand down I was riding a KZ1000 that only weighed around 500 pounds, so it was pretty easy for me to pick up in a hurry, and then look around the gas station to see if anyone noticed.
Although now I probably just jinxed myself. So, by the way, what is the proper technique for picking up a first gen? So I'll know when it happens.
I was sooo burning to give out this info, but nobody was asking. It was posted before but didn't seem to be good enough 'cause someone went and wiped the whole site clean as a whistle and it's gone. I'm sure it will come back someday, but in the meantime this is what I remember and have found out, works. Don't ask how I found out, but it wasn't light outside.
If your scoot is down on it's right side, put out the kickstand, but don't count it. If it's on it's left side the kickstand will be under the scoot and not available until later in this procedure.
Back your body up to the bike on the opposite side as the tires, grab hold of the grab rail or something solid ( depends on the bike in question) with your one hand and if your are two handed you can use the other on the steering gear, the downest one. Now put your rear into the bottom edge of the seat with your underpinings slightly bent, or more bent if they are too long, and focus on pushing your backside into the seat. As you push the scoot gets the message to get up, and it does. Hitting it, kicking at it, cussing it, throwing things at it will only infuriate it and it will just stay put. Best to practise procedure before a downer happens and you really need to do it fast. Go to the nearest meet and eat and while everybody else is eating you'll have lots of practise time and machines to practise with. After, when they come out and notice how you, all by yourself, have righted all the bikes, you'll also become a hero.

Poor lighting from stock headlight \ Greatly improved with Silver Star bulb.
Swing arm needing lubrication and\or install of zerks.
Battery cables need to be upgraded for better hot starts , Squidley's fix.

You don't have to walk far to be a moderator, don't even have to ride cross country although that seems to be the norm. You just have to keep us in line and yourself too. That should be easy.

It's not every day that we get a close up of your, I mean, such a nice picture of your scoot.
I put Vemons on mine and so far so good, try Zdeno's, buddy did better there than I did in town.

The fix maybe easy. First adjust your mic(s) to a different position. These are very sensitive instruments and will pickup any noise at all. You may need to face them up, down, over, under or somewhere else. Trial and effort is the game.
Secondly reroute the leads in your scoot. Sometimes this doesn't take a lot, just a movement of 2 in or so, other times you need to go from one side of the bike to the other. When you do this have the bike running, headsets on with the noise present, then start moving things around. If this don't get you anywhere try some filters.

Is that what I think it says, Truck box polish? Then I don't need it. All I do is lend my truck box trailer out and it comes back all nice and clean and polished to the hilt. Saves time and money and gives a reason for a ride as well. I got the best of all worlds.
Now I wonder if I should lend out my scoot.
