  1. That was entertaining. Them boys can play! Thanks.
  2. You say they removed the handlebars. I would start looking there for a pinched wire. This happened to me once when I removed the handlebars. I had pinched a wire from the right side handlebar controls. If they were not careful to assemble it back together it is easy to do. There is not much slack in the wires were they leave the bars and enter into the workings of the bike. You definitely do not want to go changing any fuses with higher ones it will only let the smoke come out and cause further problems. I would hang my head in shame if I charged someone $3800 to fix their bike and did nothing but screw it up worse. You must have the patience of Job to not lose it after paying that much and getting a slip-slop job done. These bikes are not hard to work on if you have any mechanical skills. A service manual is a cheap investment and will lead you toward the right way to fix anything on these old girls. The troubleshooting sections are priceless in themselves and have saved me many hours of time. As Winston Churchill said, I believe it was him, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself". I had a 83 took it west without 2nd gear fixed it the next year and rode the snot out of it. It still had some problems occasionally, brakes mostly, the lack of the steering head bleeder which came on the 86 and newer Ventures caused most of the braking problems for me. I still miss that bike I would run circles around DOT. By the sounds of it you might as well dig into it yourself because your stealers are not helping you. If you stumble into problems we are all here to give you help. Sometimes it is not helpful but most of the times it is spot on.
  3. Now that is some weird ship! That is just wrong in so many ways.
  4. What is she saying "Come on grandpa"!

  6. You could have put that show here also. The 70s, mini skirts, rock and roll, muscle cars, super bikes and cloudy rooms. The 60s were a great time too Puc. I loved the movie American Graffiti when it came out. It made me feel like I missed out on all the fun that time in history had to offer. The cops axle pulling scene was sweet!
  7. Memories? Some of them are kind of hard to recall.https://youtu.be/-Ux3-a9RE1Q
  8. Is this the music you danced the can-can too? My grandma used to tell me it was a lot of fun.:rotfl:
  9. The cascade of handles is like reading the past. So many say they are lurking, it would be nice to hear from them again. I suppose some of them have moved on to other bikes by now. Getting back to the original poll it was a search engine that brought me here after buying my 83 many moons ago. This place fits into my sanity or insanity depending on how the day goes. Don, you have done good in keeping this site friendly since the beginning.
  10. May you and yours receive all the help there is in fighting this. Prayers up for you.
  11. I lost about 110 lbs once. But turned around once I realized she wasn't on the back. Trimming 90 lbs off of a tried and true design was quite a feat. It has to help in the handling department alone. I would give it a serious look see if I was a young buck and starting this touring riding all over again.
  12. Blowing out the wintercobwebs would be nice about now but 14 degree days tend to stop us. It is nice to see someone being able to ride, nice pics guys. Don't take this wrong but "bite me" comes to mind. In a friendly sort of way.
  13. I wondered why my computer said your reply had a virus. Not really. Sorry to hear you two are down in the dumps. Get well soon.
  14. I agree that your oil leak is probably coming from the wires. A very good cleaning of the wires removing all of the old RTV and oil residue is whats needed. Make sure the wires are dry as a bone before re-applying the RTV. I make sure there is ample RTV between the wires as well as covering them on both sides of the grommet holding them through the case. Let the RTV dry a full 24 hours before use and you should be good to go. Every time I tried to rush this job I had a leak so take your time.
  15. I seldom look at my speedometer anymore with the GPS reading being so much more accurate. Throw your old GPS into the deal and buy a new one. You've been wanting to upgrade anyway. Problem solved and no tear down.
  16. You have been very busy and now have a machine for miles of smiles. Nice ride and good job. Now if you can fix the weather, have at it, :sign09::sign09:.
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VlGyMG0ksg That didn't take long. What took you so long?
  18. By the way the headlight is pointed I believe it is used for coon hunting also.

  20. I can only direct you to this thread when you say the words WHY. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?43333-Why
  21. This brand works best for me. It is not very quick, like the user, it does strip out a screw now and then, If the user has any kind of grip that day usually depending upon the temperature outside, it will disappear occasionally, I believe it has mastered the "Space and Time" mystery, You know like swatting at flying fruit flies, No reverse switch to go out, or foreword for that matter. It is light in weight, doesn't need a battery, those are heavy. All in all I like it.
  22. I no doubt agree that it is a well made machine. But the fact that I can rip my old Venture inside out in minutes myself at anytime to diagnose a problem makes me want to never give it up. Other than getting to old and feeble to hold it up someday. There comes a time we all must recognize our limitations and mine are sneaking up on me everyday that and spending enough money on a bike that I could buy a house around here would stop me from buying it. It is a nice bike though. Each to his own. :sign16:yzernie.
  23. If nothing else when you leave a parking lot you can yell "High HO Silver" and get away with it!
  24. Hope your not in any danger. Sounds like California over here. The worlds a changing but sometimes not for the better.:sign **** happens:
