  1. I always wondered what kind of pump they used to get the pressure up to the 800 psi...
  2. I guess they are allowing it now. I did a Google for Sheridan 5mm pellet gun and the second 'hit' was for eBay. Went there and sure enough they had pistols and rifles listed. Blue streaks were kinda pricey....
  3. Two things.... I wonder what kind of a pattern that multi-bb 760 had?? And speaking of pumps, I've always wanted a 5mm Sherdan pump. One of the early ones that you could pump up until you couldn't pump it any more. I see them come up in auctions every now and then, but someone else seemed to want them a little more than I did... Even those on eBay are crazy priced way up there...
  4. Actually Daisy made another 22 that wasn't a rim fire, and it didn't rely on air to propel the bullet.. Interesting huh?? It ran on solid propellant. The ignition was the heat generated by compressed air thru a very tiny hole Probably one about the same size as the expansion hole in the Venture clutch/brake reserve... There it's official. There's something in this thread about a Venture,, but I digress. We did a test on a piece of oak. The solid out penetrated the long rifle by 50%.. In the early 60,s Daisy came out with a few 'different' types. Another was a accuracy set. The rifle was a BB and came with out sights. It was intended to develop your shooting instinques by seeing the flight of the BB as it hit a penny tossed in the air. It worked, and I still use it.. Here's a video on the Daisy V/L 22.... How ever I disagree with some of the dates mentioned...
  5. other than 22 CCI do have a couple of 22 break barrel rifles laying around here... somewhere?? One doesn't have a thing stamped on it anywhere to ID it other than 22cal. I've never shot it but it does have a crack when it's dry fired... I do have a couple of saved pics from the auction listing. Not very good, and I plan on taking some 'artsy fartsy' pics soon. This was the second patch of these things to go up on the block. The first batch went for more than this ol' boy wanted to spend. The second batch were more reasonable. I got this one for $55 bucks. Brand new in the box. Puc, I'm humbled by your collection. I've probably got around a dozen BB's, .177's, 22's in pistol and rifle, but they pale in comparison to what you have in your pics. One that I do have is a copy of a CO2 H&K USP semi-auto in BB. Looks like the real thing. It only runs the speedo up to 400fps but it's quick enough. 20 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. I also have an Air-Soft that's fun to shoot at stuff around the office... :-) Pics will be coming. I have lots of 'fire sticks'. Lots of custom Mausers ranging from 222rem to 375H&H and even a couple of other types in 45-70 govt. 10-4 on the expense.... :-)
  6. Not black powder. Not smokeless. Not center fire..... Nope...air. Saw a few of these come up in an auction. An old style .177 Pellet rifle. Since I have just a few Rugers, I figured why not?? One more won't hurt... These were brand new in the box. While carrying the box around I noticed it was a bit on the heavy side. When I opened the box I started to get impressed. This thing was no toy. No plastic in this puppy. It was as solid as a rock. The box stated 1200fps. It's a break barrel, and when I went to cock it..sweet jesus I could barely move the barrel. Now I know i'm a little long in the tooth, but damn!! When I pulled the trigger it sounded like a 22. I believe it would have no problem meeting the 1200. I'm actually excited about feeding some pellets thru this thing....
  7. So I figured what the 'H' an emailed my Bro... Here's the scouting report I just got back... We call them Gophers here in Montana but they are really Canadian ground squirrels. They run a muck on the east side of the state with most along the high line and P-dogs more towards the states center going east/southeast. Gophers are dominant up north. Best P-dogs are in the Dakota’s and Wyoming. Bryan and I will be going to the east side in the spring to do some gopher exterminating, I’m really looking forward to it since we missed going this year. Happy Halloween! Your ageless younger brother, Tom
  8. I've never heard of a planned Prairie Dog hunt before?? Camping out, and all that. I've never ever shot at a P-Dog, just deer, elk, and antelope, but my brother up in Montana generally goes out for an afternoon of making dog vapor and then calls it a day. Not sure if he's shooting dogs or squirrels. I think he mentioned shooting a few miles out of town by the county dump?? Not the most glamorous place to camp... Motel 6 and Denny's are much better. I was thinking if I ever get up there to visit again I'd take my 223/5.56 along to give it a try. http://www.cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/Sam-Side.jpg
  9. Apparently not much....
  10. Yep we sure is ain't we?? That is one ugly palm ya got there Puc.... Yuck!! Mine don't look so bad now...
  11. Hunted Deer on the top of Douglas Pass back in '73. Had Venison burgers in the back room of a bar and grill in Rangely... The only place open that late at night.... Just bought a rifle from a fellow in Fruita last year. Lots of 139 memories of the area... Thanks for the new post on an old report....
  12. Thanks for the pic..... Looks like a trip to Marie Calendars is in order for today.... I don't cook... just eat.. :-0 Good to hear from you...
  13. Don't have to.... :-) Cause this is a family orientated board...
  14. But while sitting here at the computer I looked down and my damn palms have gotten wrinkled!!
  15. Just talked to the Lord and asked that he guide the surgeons hands during the operation and your brother's body be healed. Amen Brother....

    Lunch

Don't look in any mirrors.... :-)
  19. My thoughts.. With the extra clutch springs there's a tendency to short stroke the throw and it's not making it over the shift pin. You should actually be able to shift up thru the gears without the clutch. And I wonder why the original owner did the double up in the first place on a bike that had that few miles on it??.... If it was a slipping clutch, weak springs may not have been the cause... IMHO

    Lunch

So a friend and I did lunch at the Spaghetti Factory yesterday. We got there around 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd. While we waited to put our names in more showed up. Mostly senior citizens. Plus one group with two mothers and four rug rats, but mostly OF's. I thought man look at all the old folks. Then I turned around and looked in a mirror. Cr@p I was one of them.... :backinmyday::backinmyday::backinmyday: And when they seated us we were all at tables close to the heads...(that's the Old Salt's word for restrooms... )...
  21. I'm with BongoBob on this one. My first Venture was an '83... same basic motor... and it had 'noises'... I changed the oil and went to Valvoline MC 20-50. Holy Rat Feathers Batman, talk about quieting a motor down. She sounded like what I thought was a new engine.... I run heavier weight Rotella in all my cars and bikes now...
  22. Yep... Amen Bro... Nothing like an electric powered pole chain saw. If I can't get them with that...screw it... :-)
  23. There were only a few years that Harley put the Cat's in the muffler. 2005? to 2009?. Then they placed the Cat. in the header to allow aftermarkets to meet emissions. Anyone looking for a set of touring Harley exhausts check with you local dealer first. They usually have a bunch stowed in the rafters from new bike takeoffs. That's what I did. I offered to buy a set but they insisted I take them as a birthday gift... :-) I've always wondered how they knew??.. :-) :-)
  24. I remember that one Rick.... I like yours better.... :-)
