  1. I am getting ready to split the faring (first time by my self). I found the write up by Squidley expaining this is done and how to install the spilt audio cable so that I can install my new Zumo 550. My question is this, can I just tap into the electrical power behind the power outlet inside the faring for my GPS power or should I get the power from somewhere else?:confused24:

    Thanks---

You can tap into a hot power line, but I personally ran mine straight to the battery, since it comes with an inline fuse. The fuse is placed under my seat where I can easily get to it if need be..

If you need any help, once you get into the fairing, just give me a call.. phone number is in my profile, and I would be happy to walk you through it. :thumbsup2:

  2. Well I personally think it is a GOOD thing that your GPS didnt arrive sooner boss....

I mean going on a four day anniversary trip and all...I really don't think you wife would really appreciate you playing with an electronic gismo more that paying attention to her for the next four days...:whistling:

Count it as a blessing that it didn't arrive sooner my friend. :thumbsup2:

  3. Mine does the same thing...road grime, rain water, all that junk getting in it.

All I do is spray it with a spray type silicone and work the kick stand back and forth and it frees up instantly.. I place the bike on a floor jack to do this of course.....

I spray the kickstand on my 05 RSV about every other month to keep it free....

While your lubing things up, make sure you remove the toe heal shifter and lube the shaft it is on...then use loc-tight when reinstalling the bolt.. use grease on the shifter shaft.

A lot of folks forget to apply grease at this spot...:thumbsup2:

  4. Brad,

Im sure happy to hear you and your family are OK except for a few bumps here and there. It sure could have been worse by the looks of your car. I hope all of you heal quickly and this ordeal gets behind you. (I'm very happy you weren't on your bike)

I see when you do something ........you do a niff"T" job....but not very pret "T"

I wish you all a "safe" Happy New Year........ :thumbsup2:

  5. Now that is pretty cool Don.

All you need now is a VR.ORG buisness phone number and we can start calling you ....:whistling:

Please note the fine print at the bottom of their web page.

Your telephone company may apply usual charges for making a phone call or receiving an SMS. You will not be charged any additional 411 fee.

  6. I got him a new mirror for Christmas...when he opened it I said "son, I bought you a new Harley but by the time I got home, all the other parts vibrated off and this mirror is all I have left" LOL

  7. No gift or anything purchased could have been better than just having everyone in our family coming over and being together for the first time in fourteen years was the best ever.

We are all planning to do it again next year already..

  8. Better you..than me....my man

I have been having a ball today at my place... been in a T shirt, with garage door open, cleaning the garage out, emptying the wet dry vac bucket and cleaning it's filter..Tinkering around outside having a good time and enjoying my days off.

You can have all that snow... It sure looks beautiful in a photo or on TV, but I dont want no part of it anymore.. I shoveled enough snow in my life for 23 years..no more for me..

  9. Well I added myself to the VR pam, and I noticed there are only 4 Alabama members who are on this map..

It sure would be nice if everyone in Alabama would take the time to go in and add thier name so we know where the best place would be to have a good M&E :whistling:

  10. I remember when I was in Ft. Collins, and my butt was soaked...

Wild Hair gave me a great idea...

He said stop at the "dollar" store and pick up a $1 or $2 bath tub floor carpet.

you know the one you place on the floor so when you get out you dont slip and slide..

He said fold it in half, and put bungy cord in the fold and tie it to your bike on the front of your seat. On the rear end of the seat where the two pieces of carpet over lap, you align two corners and poke a small hole in them and use two more small bungy cords (one on each side of the seat) and tie them down to the rear of the bike.

I rode 13.5 hours one day and 14 hours the next day to get back home and my butt never got wet again..I still have that piece of carpet too....Thanks Wild Hair!!!
