  1. Stator, rotor, transmission. If your old motor did not have a bad whine, then you will want the whole clutch basket. I'm sure there is more.
  2. It was meeting night last night, by the time I got home everyone must have fallen asleep already zzzzzzzzzzzz..........
  3. The SNOW does not have to stay here, I am very willing to share some with all of my friends. . . . . You should see what I do to my enemies.... :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2:
  4. :sign yeah that: The tach is driven off of the primary side of the #2 coil. The fact that the tach is dropping to zero when the cylinder drops out means that the problem is on the primary side of the #2 coil. A carb or plug cap problem would not drop out the tach. It is easy to slap a volt meter on to be sure that the charging system is putting out the full voltage. Low voltage on these bikes causes all sorts of weird things. Clean all of the connectors in the primary side. Clean all of the grounds.
  5. So where are you hiding???? I even went into the ladies room to look for you.
  6. I am not sure on the 2nd gen but on a first gen when the last bar goes out, there is real close to 1 gallon left in the tank. This is by design. That last gallon is the reserve.
  7. :sign yeah that: I have see single tank MPG range from 50 to 16 MPG depending on conditions. 50 was 1 up with a good tail wind. 16 was pulling a trailer with the cruise at 80 into a 40MPH quartering headwind.
  8. Fuel pump would not stop it from cranking or stop the lights from going on.
  9. That is definitely on the low end of mileage. There are a few that claim to get 45-50 MPG out of a venture but they are few and far between. From all of the mpg posts that I have read right around 40 is what to realistically expect. Sync may help a little, but not that much. Are there any accessories on the bike that are hanging out in the wind, like air deflectors or a bigger windshield? On the day that you were out riding, what was the wind like? Head winds and cross winds can eat up extra gas.
  10. Which is exactly why cleaning the connections is at the beginning of the test procedure.
  11. That reminded me of my buddies fist ever attempt at a tuneup on a Chevy Blazer. He put in the new points and condenser, got the point gap and the dwell correct. Put in the new rotor, got the new distributor cap on correctly. Put in a new set of spark plugs. He called me up because he went thru a half tank of gas on a short 10 mile drive, and it did not seem to be running correctly. So I head over to his place and as soon as I opened the hood, I about fell down laughing. Only 2 of the 8 plugs had a wire connected, the rest were all neatly bundled off to the side....... OK OK I know, I'm showing my age, It has been a while since the Blazer had a 350 V8 with points and condenser. But it was still hilarious, I was quite surprised that it was even ran let alone be drivable on just 2 cylinders.
  12. When your tank is showing empty at 150-165 miles, how much gas are you putting back in it?
  13. HA! You think Ol Puc points a finger at you? Just look at what he tosses my way...
  14. I guess I did not understand that the relays were just being used to disable the trailer wiring. In that case they should last almost forever, or until they die of corrosion. My warped little mind assumed that they were there for isolation. I am not real sure what the benefit vs effort and cost is to having a switch to turn off the trailer lights? But it was obviously there for someone.
  15. Here ya go; http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=81297
  16. Would it be worth it at this point to get a set of MKII forks to get the bigger brakes?
  17. And then a 3rd gen next year??????
  18. I was on last night. All alone.......
  19. Cool, glad you got it fixed and we were of some help. Hmmmm...... You say the fuse was slid over? That implies that you still have the stock glass fuses. Those stock glass fuses have been the root cause of MANY electrical gremlins for many people. There are a lot of people that have spent many days troubleshooting a bad glass fuse holder. I would recommend upgrading to a modern ATC fuse block. Even if you are not the most handy with electrical, SkyDoc_17 in the classifieds sells a kit with everything you need and good instructions. The fuse upgrade will save you a lot of grief down the road. The 4 relays are only a good idea if they are wired as an isolator and the trailer is a 5 wire setup. The standard auto type relay like those will wear out, especially for the turn signals. How hard would it be to replace one of those relays on the side of the road?
  20. You were not eating colored snow were you??????
  21. :sign yeah that: SearchTempest is also my choice when searching more than my immediate area. Search tempest lets you specify a search distance, min / max price and other features. It can also search other for sale sites at the same time.
  22. I am not sure what all a plasma TV can feed back into the line. Hence my post way up in this thread. Forget what?????
  23. I live a block away from the Patrick Cudahy Plant where they are making bacon 24/7. The prevailing wind is from the direction of the plant so my house always smells like fresh bacon. I have lived here for 30+ years and still have not tired of bacon.
  24. Another reason Yamaha is better. You need to use the key to lock the trunk. It is nearly impossible to lock the key in the trunk. If you are creative you can accomplish it.
