  2. WD40 For chrome that doesn't get 'exhaust' hot, brush on with a toothbrush / small paint brush. Wipe off rust with just a rag in a couple of weeks. Before I put my machines to bed for a New England winter, I paint ALL chrome for rust protection. My '75 Wing is still showroom. weird-wonderful-uses-wd-40> A4Forever
  3. Never heard - don't want to hear a bike moan. The '90 Volvo's dry rubber sway bushings moan when entering, but ensure ball suspension are greased. Other than the eyelet separating from the Honda's rear shock, the shock still retained compression (??psi), just not attached to the swing arm. If the relay is dry, riding may (temporarily) stop any moaning by grinding rust crystals (that grew while idle) into powder. Replacing the FeO2 with 2 cents worth of molybdoenum disulfide may save a lot of moaning over a trailer rescue / repair estimate.
  4. "frame moans are not factory designed" A friend's - friend's Honda(model?) moaned up to the mile the rear shock eyelet snapped, substituting moans for clunks and a lowered suspension. As the assembly remained buried in the frame, invested 3 hours pounding out the FROZEN shock relay bolt. As I see no grease nipples on our '06RSV shock relay (carrying 2/3's(?) 900+ pounds), am planning a tear down to (1) grease and (2) investigate setting nipples into the receivers of the 4 respective bolts. Have plans for other moans. May the bugs of sundown lie heavily on your windscreen.
  5. Verner The factory boys did an excellent wind penetration design, but I think they failed to consider adjustable wind vents. My new ('06) Venture is not my first liquid cooled, but my first FULL fairing. I find I draw out the naked '75 Wing when the temp expected to climb above 80F during the ride. My friend's RStar Tour is most pleasant all summer and am contemplating swapping the Venture's engine guards with RS Tours to remove the shields (radio & cruise which I don't turn on) and reinstall when the snow starts to fly. Great cruising machine. A4Forever
  6. Verner After comfortably riding a friends RStar Tour Delux, I too was surprised with the heat quantity of my just purchased (06) Venture when the ambient got above 80F. Find I prefer my naked '75 Wing past 80F but the wife misses the luggage. Am contemplating replacing the engine guards in the summer with bare Delux bars and removing the shields, radio & cruise electrics - I ride only to ride. Will put the Venture version bars back on when the snow flies. Rode a new Indian that had air adjustable lowers - very simple and very efficient. JT
