  1. Meh! They're just a money grab! I'm usually not interested unless I have a dog in the fight.
  2. So, I've notice an oil leak from my antidives. I had done a complete rebuild of my forks and brakes last winter...I'm guessing I must have just used any old metric o-rings I had laying around or maybe I just reused the old o-rings...I just don't remember....funny thing was, there was no leaks all season long (I park my bike in the same spot in my garage), but as soon as the cold weather came...BOOM...oil spot! So, my question is....DO I NEED TO BLEED MY BRAKES IF I REPLACE THE O-RINGS? I know I'll be replacing the fork oil...with a 12wt this time! Thanks in advance.
  3. Going to do a clutch rebuild over the winter and I'm trying decide between stock Yamaha friction plates, EBC plates, or Barnett plates....whoever I get the friction plates from, that's who I'll get the steels from as well (someone correct me....there shouldn't be too much difference between the steels?). I'll also need some help on which brand of springs are preferred and why. Just as an FYI, I don't ride like a madman (occasionally I'll get "on it") and the majority of my riding is back-roads and highways....one up, no trailer. I'm assuming I still have the stock clutch from Yamaha and I like the way it feels....my issue is, if I get on it....right around redline in 4th gear it'll "judder" just a bit....not horrible, but you can feel it. Absolutely no issue if I'm riding like an adult. So help me out...give your opinion Stock Yamaha - EBC - or Barnett - or what about a mix and match? Barnett friction, EBC steels, and stock Yamaha spring? One last thing...I did a complete hydraulic rebuild last winter (Master - Stainless Hoses - and Slave) '84 XVZ12 Venture Royale
  4. I'm having the same issue.....I rebuilt the entire front end last winter....funny thing is, all year long I had no leaks...now my forks are leaking. BTW, I'm pretty sure I'm leaking fork oil.
  5. Just paid my dues for another year....best $12 I've spent on my scoot. Thanks to all those who've contributed, past and present, it's only through the collective knowledge and mistakes we've all made, that we keep these great bike rolling! My hat is off to you Ladies and Gentlemen.....thank you.
  6. I concur with Van Avery....your car battery will give you plenty of cranking power......buy please do NOT start the car or have it running during the jump!
  7. Sorry for the delay, try brake hoses unlimited, his name is Nick Chrisman his email is goodbrakes@brakehoses.biz , he's a good guy and should still have the template from my '84
  8. I found a guy in Michigan that made me a complete set of stainless lines....and the price was very reasonable. I will try to find his contact info......I have been very satisfied.
  9. A picture is worth a thousand words! thank you
  10. I'll have to admit....I have no idea what valve cover Ds are? I know what the valve covers are, I know what the valve cover gaskets are, I know what the valve cover bolts are, and I can only assume we're talking about the rubber hold down washers? I've heard them called donuts and pressure washers, but not Ds....is this what we're talking about?
  11. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?116337-Clutch-Hydraulic-Rebuild-Tutorial I rebuilt my entire hydraulic system....it's not that difficult. I'll even loan you the master cylinder snap ring pliers!
  12. It is my understanding that Yamaha used that screw for a temp sensor on some previous models....it's just a holdover.
  13. I did a complete front end rebuild over the winter, and it's like night and day....Do it once and do right, as long as you're in there....what's another $100? I'd hate to do all that work only to find the slides/Pistons are sloppy. I say change it all out...it worked for me.
  14. Hey Brother....if the rain holds out and the creek don't rise, I should be heading out around 2:00 ish...are we still on?
  15. Meh.....not going to impact me. I'll adjust.
  16. I have one exactly like Camos's...traded another member for it. Funny thing is mine has the word superbrace punched into it???
  17. I got my rebuild kit on eBay, although it was quite expensive (I seem to remember around $60). My master looked like it was full of chicken fat and my brakes were almost nonexistent, but it cleaned up really nice. I also rebuilt both my calipers and added stainless hoses and HH pads...like night and day difference.
  18. not dumb at all.....just the people (of which I am not one) with the smarts to answer have not seen this post....hang in there
  19. I believe it needs to be usb to a serial connector. You should be able to find one at newegg or any computer hardware store (probably not at a Best Buy store, although they could order it)
  20. Yeah....I saw that bike a couple of weeks ago....he has done all the work I would have! Trouble is, he's asking top dollar....we all know how much work goes into getting a bike set up like that, so I can see where his head is at but I'd be reluctant to offer any more than $2200....but I'm a cheap skate.
  21. Check for a vacuum leak.....carb probably needs a cleaning, but I'd bet dollars to donuts you have a serious vacuum leak
  22. Ok, so I'm preparing for some of my Winter projects...replace tired old windshield (have tried everything...Pledge, poly-carbonate scratch remover, 3M headlight restorer, and I still don't like the results)....install the Ignitech replacement TCI...replace the plastic water pump impeller...and replace my clutch. I try to buy my parts a couple at a time to keep the spend down and also keep it under the radar from the CFO.... So, I'm looking at replacing clutch plates, clutch fibers, and springs, and I'd like to know if there is any preference or major difference between the EBC kits and the Barnett kits...I always seem to hear everyone saying Barnett....is Barnett superior to EBC....I've always had good luck them? Don't want to start an "Oil War" or "Tire War"...just want opinions and personal experience. Thanks:icon_lurker:
  23. Bout an hour and change from Cedarburg.....Free Tamales?....Oh Yeah! Count me in. As long as you won't have me swabbing any decks!
  24. I usually like to wear white or a light color....I really like the Under Armour type products as a long sleeve under shirt, they wick well and have good UV protection. On top of that I like to wear a button down shirt...if you have some extra $$$ Columbia make some terrific fishing shirts....light weight and lots of vents.
