I seem to be unable to access videos via their youtube link. What's wrong?
  2. Try going to a dealer and having them do a "dealer search". They have access to dealers on site parts inventory. It's possible that some dealer may have what you need sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere that even they don't realize they have!. I did this with an obsolete carb part-the needle valve. A dealer search turned up 7 in the country. Via a phone call, I purchased 3 (of 5) from Stadium YAMAHA in Texas. Good luck.
  3. I know what you are experiencing. Napa (and possibly others) has a universal fuse block with the same type of clips that broke on yours-and mine. If you are handy, patient, and don,t mind a bit of fiddling, carefully cannibalize the Napa item and even more carefully replace the one- or more of yours that are broke. It's a job I'll admit. But riders of old machines have to be resourceful. Good luck.
  4. I have a long history with an '87 that at times would also start but run-well. In each case I ended up giving to a shop where they disassembled the carbs, gave them a complete cleaning then reassembling. Unfortunately, when these old carbs are blocked, nothing short of a complete teardown will do. Just removing them from the bike is very labor intensive. If you go this route, be prepared for a huge bill. Just to clear the air, I've also tried the Sea Foam route as well as numerous other cleaners and solvents. If you dig around, you'll find several other posts from me on this subject.
  5. I have an '87 with only 10'000 miles on it! Over its lifespan there have been several multiyear periods when it's sat idle due to persistent maintenance issues. Here is the latest. I drove it in June for approx. 10 miles and it ran fine. A few days later it "got sick"! It always starts, but when I tried to accelerate, it was exhibiting symptoms of only running on three cylinders. When I removed the air cleaner, only 3 of the sliders were moving. I've heard a lot about bad diaphragms, as well as other issues so here's what I've done (over the past 8 months). I thought that it may be a case of old gas so I initially gave it the Sea Foam treatment. No improvement. Although I couldn’t see any holes in the diaphragms, I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned so I have purchased several new diaphragms as well as slider/diaphragm kits. Just in case there was a problem with an old needle, I found a source and bought 3 new ones.($$$$$) Throughout the past 8 months I have turned it into a frustrating pastime of routinely mixing and matching sliders, diaphragms and needles to try to find a combination that would work. Here I have to emphasize that all through this process all I’ve managed to do is move the problem! The bike always starts with no hesitation but (even after it’s warmed up) it won’t respond to any acceleration. Incidentally, in order to try to minimize my efforts, I have just been juggling parts on the right two carbs only. In essence, I can get either the right front carburetor to act normal OR the right rear, but not both simultaneously. Here it is December and not only is it past riding season in New England but it’s also too cold to pursue this problem anymore in an unheated garage until Spring. Meanwhile, if anyone has any suggestions about something I haven’t tried yet, I’d sure like to hear it and I’ll take it into consideration when I resume trying to fix this problem in the Spring. It sure eats my heart out to own a bike that is mint physically but sick mechanically.
  6. As Spring approaches, I'm facing removing and dismantling my (4) carbs to remedy 1 that wasn't firing when I put my '87 up for the winter. This is not the first time for this. It's a termendous job that I don't look forward to. There's only 9000 mi. on this rig. I'm afaid the years are taking their toll though.Has anyone else faced this? What's the long term solution? I'm anxious to ride not wrench. If this keeps up I'll probably be logging onto a site like Ultra Classic Rider.Org or Gold Wing Rider. Org in the future !!!!!
  7. I too would be interested in more info. about hitches. My wife and I plan on getting a camper type trailer for my 87 Venture Royale when I retire. Picures, prices, etc., etc. would be much appreciated.
