'83 to a limited amount of '85's have this issue. Search the forum for this subject and you will find a lot of posts. Yer perty much looking at pulling the motor ans splitting the case. Yours is a classic Venture disease. Rather than repair my 2nd gear, I just bought a 1300cc engine on eBay cheaper than repairing the old 1200. Just make dog-gone sure the last 4 digits of the serial number (on one you buy) is higher than 1413. 1414 and higher is when they started producing the improved transmission. Sorry, you're not alone!
