Freebird Posted June 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2016 Are you SURE you need a new petcock? Very unusual to find one that leaks. It is NOT unusual to find one that is a little loose and leaking at the pipe where the fuel line slips on. You can simply tap it with a hammer to stop the leak. Many have done this and it hasn't happened again. Some just weren't pressed in tight enough. Just remove the fuel hose, place a small piece of wood or plastic on the end of the brass tube and tap it with a hammer.
Great adVENTURE Posted June 8, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 8, 2016 When mine pulled out completely I used a small c-clamp and slowly turned while watching it press in.

videoarizona Posted June 8, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 8, 2016 Bowser, can't help with filter as mine is fresh from PO. My PO moved the filter to just under front of driver seat.. Tucked nicely in frame.... Just a thought for you while you are in there.
djh3 Posted June 9, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 9, 2016 EZ fix on the pet cock. I fixed a couple. I actually oval-ed the pipe piece a tick, used some fuel safe RTV and tapped in with a hard plastic hammer. Wood would also work fine. As for the fuel filter there is a couple fixs for that. There is a listing on this site for a fram and wix and couple other replacement filters. I added a piece of fuel line and put a clear filter that has a replaceable element in it from autozone. bowser Posted June 12, 2016 Author Share #9 Posted June 12, 2016 Thanks for the info on petcock, fuel outlet was very loose and no longer leaks and saved me 70$. Still need to do fuel filter, good to know wix makes them.
djh3 Posted June 13, 2016 Share #10 Posted June 13, 2016 I used one like this. I installed new line from pump and installed filter up where a fellow can see it to inspect, and easier to change. I mounted it like rite at back of the tank and frame by mount bolt area.
BlueSky Posted June 13, 2016 Share #11 Posted June 13, 2016 Partzilla has the OE filter for about $15. But, you can probably buy a generic filter from any of the outfits like Motorcycle Superstore, Bike Bandit, or Dennis Kirk.
