The Tooch Posted May 16, 2016 Share #26 Posted May 16, 2016 I could be wrong.....but isn't that going to void your warranty on your cassette deck!??!!?
videoarizona Posted May 16, 2016 Share #27 Posted May 16, 2016 Not sure if a 4 x 6 would give you that much better sound, not much more cone area as opposed to going to a 6 to 6 1/2 inch round. The key to better sound reproduction is more real estate to move a bigger volume of air.. Just IMHO. I'm still trying to figure out how BOSE can get that much fidelity out of those teeny tiny speakers!! Cabinet design and great magnet/cone material !!! Look at Orb. Motiv Posted May 17, 2016 Share #29 Posted May 17, 2016 Lookin' good so far!! I have seen 6 1/2" speakers mounted on the dash before, can't remember who did it though... I do recall someone selling a yellow and black trunk here that had larger speakers in it. It was a nice job with custom enclosures. Motiv Posted May 17, 2016 Share #30 Posted May 17, 2016 Found the post it's a year old and I could not enlarge the pictures. Maybe one of the gurus can. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=929296 Sent from my SM-T900 using Tapatalk The pictures wouldn't get larger because that ad has long ago expired and shouldn't even have been available. Sorry. I have deleted that thread.
Flyinfool Posted May 17, 2016 Share #33 Posted May 17, 2016 Oh man, I'm a day late again. Even though the add has to be gone can the pics still survive since they are helpful to this thread?
Freebird Posted May 17, 2016 Share #34 Posted May 17, 2016 No, it was just a very small picture anyway. It was originally posted by @Ventureless and I thought that maybe he could add it to this thread but I just looked and him membership has expired. bongobobny Posted May 17, 2016 Share #35 Posted May 17, 2016 The gist of it Jeff, the speaker grilles are outside mounted instead of internally mounted. On the second gen trunks, the rear speakers are mounted in cavities on each side of the trunk under the armrests...
bill4you502 Posted May 17, 2016 Share #36 Posted May 17, 2016 I bought Baffles to fit 4" speakers for the front. (Find them on eBay) Split the fairing and cut and fit using duck tape to hold them firm. Improves volume and bass response a bit. Luckily the bike is quiet to start with. On the interstate, I use a helmet system(J&M) and OEM cable....Good luck!
Shibumi Posted May 18, 2016 Author Share #37 Posted May 18, 2016 Just a sitting on the throne thinking and "googling", how about polk 4x6 plate speakers in front, 4" polk in rear and.... a larger oval shaped speaker to act like a sub in the trunk facing out towards the driver and passenger? Small mini amp in trunk to power it? Just brainstorming here Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
bongobobny Posted May 18, 2016 Share #38 Posted May 18, 2016 Well, I went with some higher end Kenwoods myself, they sound a whole lot better than the stock in the parking lot, but on the road they still sound like crap...
ragtop69gs Posted May 18, 2016 Share #39 Posted May 18, 2016 4" speakers suck for sound and loudness. 6.5" would sound way better and produce more volume, beneficial at Ick-spress way speeds.

If I remember correctly when the pictures were expandable is that I was impressed with the effort someone went though to actually mold or fiberglass the pods for the speakers and it looked to be a very professional job, something to copy for sure. BTW, there is a guy on the other bike forum I frequent that bought a yellow and black RSV with no trunk on it, wonder if it came off that bike. He was on here a couple times but have not seen any posts lately. Sent from my SM-T900 using Tapatalk
