Ok - I give up

 

I'm looking for info on oil filters for my 2009 RSV. I've been nearly an hour seraching here and in the 2nd gen tech area and come up empty. I'm most likely not using the right search words but I really thought that oil change, RSV, oil filters and other terms would bring something besides 1st gen info. If someone could point me in the right direction I sure would appreciate the help.

Maybe this will help. I know there was a cross reference chart once upon a time. I will see if I can find it.

no need for a cross reference chart, it looks to like the Purolater PL14612 is fine and I might go to the Rotella 6 oil, I always seem to gravitate to Mobil1 for my bikes. Unlike some, I'm not anal about oil and filters because I have yet to hear about an engine failure due to oil or filter use. My problem is that I don't know how to search correctly for info.

Amsoil has new filters. clean at 98.7percent@15microns. New number is EaOM103.

Eck - Thanks for the chart and I don't know if you use Honda filters or not but I have 6 or 8 Honda OEM oil filters that I have no need for - do you ?

 

 

Are these Honda's # 15410-MFJ-D01? If so and Eck is not interested. I could use them, or at least some of them, on my Honda ST1300 if the numbers match.

I'm afraid that by the time I purchase them from you and then add the postage to get them here, that I may be paying more for them than what they would be worth...:confused24:

why yes they are ! I have 5 of them and an EMGO chrome filter as well as the "cup" wrench to take them off. I must have used a couple of the filters on the Honda trikes I had last year. I don't need any of them unless the wrench fits the Purolater PL14612 filter.

I think they're worth about $9 each on the retail market but then I'm not in retail. I have no idea how much it might cost to mail them to you but I would really like to sell the chrome wrench with the filters.

Purolator PL14610 and PL14612 used to work but don't anymore. They changed the threaded end from concave to convex flange so now they won't seal the O-ring now. We had a long discussion about this several months ago.

The end result was that they won't work anymore. I you have old ones with the concave bottoms they should be fine but not new ones with the flat bottom.

It would be cheaper for me to just continue buying them locally when I need one I think.

Your Honda 15410-MFJ-D01 is the same filter as a Yamaha 5GH-13440-30 (40 & 50) which is the same as the PL14459.... Meaning you can use your current Honda Filters on your Yamaha RSV

Yup here is the thread for that.

 

OK so with that being said I was in an Oreilies auto parts the other day and they had WIX filters on sale. So I grabbed the equivalent filter and it looks like it is made the correct way to use. Have not checked the Purolator to see if they changed it back or not.
