Looks good to me!! I'm pretty sure I can see 2 sailboats, and the power boat as well. :thumbsup2:We'll take your word for it. Go ahead and set the next target.

What's really funny is your name being The Black Pearl. I have a buddy that builds and restores wood and canvas boats and canoes in my shop, and he named one of his handmade wooden rowboats "Black Pearl". I looked on this computer to see if I had a picture of it, but no luck. When we get home, I'll see if I can come up with a picture of it, and post it to this thread. I think you'd get a chuckle out of it too.

Next taget is............

This is about as big as it gets around here. This is the Terre Haute Federal Prison. Here's what Wikipedia says about it:

The Federal Correctional Complex, Terre Haute, is a federal [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison]prison[/ame] for adult males located at the intersection of State Road 63 and Springhill Drive, two miles (3 km) southwest of Terre Haute, [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana]Indiana[/ame], [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States]United States[/ame]. It falls under the jurisdiction of the [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Bureau_of_Prisons]Federal Bureau of Prisons[/ame].

There are two facilities at FCC Terre Haute: Federal Correctional Institution, Terre Haute; and United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute. USP Terre Haute is currently the home of the only death chamber for federal [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment]death penalty[/ame] recipients in the United States, where they receive [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lethal_injection]lethal injection[/ame]. Among those most recently executed at USP Terre Haute were [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh]Timothy McVeigh[/ame] and [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Raul_Garza]Juan Raul Garza[/ame] in 2001, and Louis Jones, Jr., in 2003. McVeigh, who was convicted for his responsibility for the [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing]Oklahoma City bombing[/ame], was the first prisoner executed by the U.S. Government since the moratorium on the death penalty was lifted in 1976. Drug trafficker [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Marks]Howard Marks[/ame] served time there as well as Gregory Paul Price Jr.[1]

The next target is.....You with your bike, next to a state welcome sign, other than the state you live in.:080402gudl_prv:

OK, this doesn't count since I had it taken during an event in Joliet earlier this summer, and there isn't a sign, but that is THE prison from the Blues Brothers movies, and the entrance behind me is one that was made specifically for the scene where Joliet Jake gets released and waits for his brother, Elwood. They left it after the movie was made, there wasn't an entrance there before.

Scott, Does a mirror and a forehead count??????

Left work at 3:05pm, home at the puter at 6:55pm, and 190 miles later, here's the pick at the IL state line south of Clinton, WI.

:beersign: I need a couple beers to think about it, but I'll get the next target up shortly.

Later, Scooter Bob

P.S. I need to move farther north, I didn't realize if I take the 2 lanes pretty much straight south from here, it's only 84 miles to flatland!!!:stickpoke:

The next target....

You and your bike in front of a "Curling Club". Sign of the club must be in the pic.

No, I'm not into sliding a rock down a strip of ice, but for some some reason this idea popped into my head (I think because of a radio ad running around here that pokes fun at the sport of Curling). A quick Google shows them to be all over, so good luck, and i hope this isn't a thread killer. If it turns out to be, I've got another target in mind.

P.S.S. Krispy, lots of 'em in MN

OK, unless someone beats me to the submit key, I have my first victory!

This is in Triumph, IL, just in the corner of I-80 and I-39 SW of Chicago. My son and I, my granddaughter and a couple that are friends of mine from the STAR Touring chapter 482 went to Utica, and I talked them into the 10 mile detour to see the oldest Curling club in Illinois. Check out my son and I, the group shot and the shot of the building, see how LOOOOOONG it is!

I haven't had time to think up a new target, so I will try to post that very very soon.

OK, how about this for the next target, in the spirit of the season:

You, your bike and a Pumpkin throwing machine! one of those cannon things, or a Trebuchet/catapult, extra points if you get it in action. I know where there is one close by, but I am eliminating myself from this one. ( for a bribe I could be made to tell where that one is!). :thumbsup2:

I thought this might be too odd, but a google search brings up many such contests and the "season" is right now. Might not be possible for those in the far west or SW, but I see many in the MW, E and SE.

Any of you in Michigan that want to get this one Johnson's Giant Pumpkin Farm has a Trebuchet they fire off on weekends. They are just east of Saginaw on Portsmouth Rd just North of 81. My bike still not running or I would go.

Google Johnson Giant Pumpkins Michigan.

I'll give up the one (pumpkin cannon) in my area: In Morton IL on E. Courtland St. just before Commerce Drive. Unless they move it for the competition soon. has a large American flag flying from it, it is the Aludium modulator (from the little martian guy from cartoon fame!) and was world champion at one time.

This is just East of Peoria, Il right off I-74, now go out and get that picture!

What does everyone think? Is the pumpkin machine too odd? If we don't get a hit in a few more days, I will try to come up with something a little less "specialized".

We head to central WI the second weekend in OCT for the State ABATE meeting every year. I've seen a couple Air cannons on the freeway in that neiborhood that weekend and had heard there was a competition around there. I couldn't find any info on the net last night though about the event this year. If there was one, I wouldn't be able to hit the target till then, unless I find one somewhere else.

It certainly is a most unique target though. I'd say give it at least through this weekend, cus I'd like to see a pic of another one.

Well, I agree, and as one of the people that has lobbied for a new target when things don't happen, well, I will re-set the target, and try to make it something a little easier for more people to get.

How about: You, Your Bike (of course) and any National Park Sign. (In honor of the PBS series on National Parks running this week).

OK, I realize that riding weather is getting lousy, but I didn't think the revised target was that hard. Should I reset it again?

Or is everyone just still stunned that I finally got one, and it was the curling thing in Illinois! :cool10:

Let's get this going again!

OK, let's make this easier and get going!

Modification to the target: You, your bike and a National or STATE park sign. but NOT a city park! Bonus points if there is an animal on the sign, extra bonus points for a bear! (not a real animal, just a picture or outline. Don't want Freebird grabbing a bear and balancing it on the top of the sign!) LOL
