Bug has its up side.

I caught something a couple weeks ago. Some type of bug. Not really been sick enough to hide in bed just feeling way down there and no energy at all. Don't even feel eating as I usually. Walked past scales today and stepped on. 234 lbs!!!! What a Stud!!! Well..... Anyway I had been floating between 250-255. And I haven't been real sick just not up to par. I think it has taught me something. Eating gets to be a habit. I've been eating but I told the Warden to stop loading my plate til it was falling off the sides. I go to the kitchen as much as I used to but return empty as often as not. Cut way down on diet pop. You know water don't taste bad. Don't know where I'm going with this but I was making a effort to cut a few lbs and this "Bug" just fit right in there. A little Unlike the boss there have been times I could and just didn't. Don't know where I'm going with this but now is a good time of the year to look at our eating habits. With holidays coming up just turning down that extra might help. OK I'm going to the kitchen......

Winston66,

Western Australia , here.

That was quite interesting,

As an aside if you are serious about your health and weight ,I found this book quite interesting and informative, I think that the author has some very valid theories and comments, worth serious considerations.

Title

Sweet Poison Quit Plan,

Author

David Gillespie.

I got my copy as an Ebook as a down load via the web.

It certainly gave me something to think about.

I cut sodapop out of my drinks because you have to walk 5 miles to burn the calories off.

I gave up diet pop because its made with Aspartame it has 10 really bad side effects. 1)Eye Problems 2) Headaches and Migraines 3) Diabetic Issues 4) Prevention of Weight Loss 5) Enhances Mood Disorders 6)Inflammation and Joint Pain 7)Stomach Cramps 8)Increased Risk of Seizures 9)Hearing Problems 10) Controversial Cancer Studies.

I lost 35 lbs the 1st month and your right water is a great drink. I drink more of it then I ever have and I feel better.

Dan, about 10 years back I was doing the 255+, I came home from work early one day as white as a sheet and feeling crappy, told the wife I was going to the basement office to do some estimating. I was told... like crap you are you are going to a doctor or emerg.... I settled for the doctor.. I spent that night in the emerg on the heart monitors.

The long and short was drop the weight and get fit or we can control your heart with meds. I do not care for drugs of any kinds if avoidable. The Cardiologist I saw recommended a weight loss program that he had used in past. I dropped 22 lbs the first 10 days and in the end dropped over 75 lbs, my wife, in support, dropped 90+ lbs.

What a life style change. We started walking and going to a gym. I changed jobs and started cycling to and from work.... a bit over 10 miles each way every day. I took up running in local races, doing 5 and 10 kilometer runs and this month ran in my first 1/2 Marathon.

where you are going with this.... carry the bag of sugar or sack of flower in from the car on grocery day and think..... I have lost this much weight.... and I feel great.

Keep up the good work and remember if it is white is it likely going to your belt line. Sugar, flower, coffee cream.

Kevin

Sometimes they can be a blessing in disguise. 30 some odd yr ago I caught one. I was in bed 3 days. When I got up, I went to light up a smoke and said " well heck its been 3 days wonder if I can make 4". Aint had one since. Some of the recent studies on diet drinks are not helping them out. Almost cause more problems tan worth. I dont drink any diet stuff. I will treat myself to a pop once a week maybe, but its probably more like once every 2 weeks.

My son went on some sort of diet regimen that had more to do with eating healthy than starving and even allows for red meat and some fat. Just sugar and is the main no no and keeping carbs to a minimum. Believe it or not the bugger dropped 90 lbs in about 6 months, eating more than I eat

Dan,

Be carefull I just came through the exact same thing. No appetite low energy, and shortness of breath. Lost 35 pounds. I couldn't walk from the bedroom to the bathroom without panting for air. I stopped smoking 2 years ago after smoking for 45 years. I spent two weeks in bed till I finally got an appointment with the Pulmonary specialist who put me in the hospital that day. They diagnosed pneumonia after chest xrays , Cat scan and Brochoscopy and a bunch of visit by the hospital vampires. Stayed a week being pumped up with Antibiotics fluids and who knows what else, I can't remember them all. I went back to work last Monday and feel great now.

Point is,:soapbox: Don't make assumptions about your health and consult the Doctors.
