Midicat Posted March 19, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2014 That does look great and I've been thinking about moving in this direction. What filters will fit this add-on? Thomas
Rosie1965 Posted March 19, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted March 19, 2014 That does look great and I've been thinking about moving in this direction. What filters will fit this add-on? Thomas Purolator L25288, or equivalent. I just had my Napa store cross reference that number since I'm a fan of the Napa gold filters.
jet3279 Posted March 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 20, 2014 1522 is the napa number I think. Its for a 2.5 gm motor if I remeber correctly. Well worth the money. That is the long filter, they do make a shorter one also Sent from my SPH-M930 using Tapatalk

painterman67 Posted March 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted March 20, 2014 I have the same setup on my 91. I use the purolator and have never looked back. Cant if its any better or worse as far as filtering but it is a lot easier to change and the up side at least for my bike is an extra half quart of oil so bike seems to run a bit cooler.............seems to but that could be just me David
bongobobny Posted March 20, 2014 Share #8 Posted March 20, 2014 Yes, I've always been a believer in putting on the biggest oil filter you can fit...

Flyinfool Posted March 20, 2014 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2014 I have one all drawn up in CAD, I was planing to make one for myself. I just never got around to it. Maybe once I use up the stock of OEM filters that I already have.

terry hutchens Posted March 21, 2014 Share #12 Posted March 21, 2014 i just got one too for my 84. i see where some of the other filters that fit it have check valves. would it matter one way or another?

Any good filter is going to have a check valve, often referred to as an "anti drainback valve". This makes sure the filter is full of oil at startup. JohnT Posted March 22, 2014 Share #14 Posted March 22, 2014 I have yet to install mine yet. The one I bought has basically a pipe nipple that threads into the plate and of course into the enging. I was contemplating using red loctite on the nipple to adapter union and blue on the nipple to engine union. Thoughts? I just don't want the plate to loosen unless I want it to. jet3279 Posted March 22, 2014 Share #15 Posted March 22, 2014 i wouldnt worry about loctite. just put a new o ring on and youll never have to worry about it.
terry hutchens Posted March 22, 2014 Share #16 Posted March 22, 2014 just bought a mobile 1.m1-206. the thing is it bottoms out before it gets to the adapter plate by a quater inch or so. seems like the threads stop on the filter.i printed a list of alternatives. btw i got the adapter on ebay. Rosie1965 Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #17 Posted March 23, 2014 Either something is wrong with the threads on your adaptor or the filter isn't compatible. I don't have a list of filters to cross reference to.
terry hutchens Posted March 23, 2014 Share #18 Posted March 23, 2014 plenty of thread left on adapter, thread on filter has a stop. won't let it turn all the way thru.
Midicat Posted March 24, 2014 Share #19 Posted March 24, 2014 When I did a search for purolator L25288 cross reference, I get a MOBIL M1-107, not the m1-206. You may have the wrong filter. Thomas
