Hummingbird Posted May 11, 2011 Share #26 Posted May 11, 2011 You guys are convincing me in to the journey of fly and ride. Got one issue though. The bike has the original back tire which has 8100 mile on it. The seller is throwing in a new tire on a wheel( how he obtained that I do not know) with the purchase of the bike. I would need to find a place close to Canal Fulton OH-44616. to swap out the tires, He said the back tire is what it is. It may make it Florida and it may not. I figure a new tire with purchase i may as well get it mounted up there. Any suggestions?? Considering the seller would have to transport the wheel with tire to where ever i get it mounted. Thanks David, Give me a call - 330-754-5640 I'm 1/2 hour from Canal Fulton - also I sent you a pm I'll get it down to you and the extra stuff - Dick aka - Hummingbird
Hummingbird Posted May 11, 2011 Share #27 Posted May 11, 2011 one more suggestion - naw, call me, I'm sure we can work this out. My mother lives just North of you near Crystal River, good excuse to go see her again this year. I'm on the road today so I won't be on the puter til tonight
TDunc Posted May 11, 2011 Share #28 Posted May 11, 2011 I know how you can get it there for $200.00 Pay for my food, hotel, entertainment and gas and I will do it for $200.00.. Now, there is not time limit to get it to FL is there? Oh, you don't mind the side trips or mileage do you? My fee for this service is $200.00 and it will be well ridden and in need of an oil change when I get it there. :thumbsup2: Signups for rideing partners for side trips will post soon. hig4s Posted May 11, 2011 Share #32 Posted May 11, 2011 It must be one heck of a deal to make it worth paying for a transporter, and it not costing more than just buying one already in your area.

The only one I found was in Auburndale and it had 3500 more miles and no wheres near the extras this one has. The gentleman I'm buying it from put over $5K into it. I have seen the pics and trust me I haven't found one close to it. So yes I believe its a really good deal. Besides If I'm happy and the wife is happy then thats all that matters. Everyone on this site will bend over backwards to help a Venturerider. If you stick around and read on this site you will find offers to help others almost every day, from free parts (just pay shipping) to help working on the bike, to roadside assistance, to opening their home to another Venturerider for whatever reason. If you could put off picking the bike up untill June 4th and come to Freebirds MD, you would soon learn what I'm talking about. We are all a big family and family help each other. As an example, Aussie Anne and Quickstep are coming to the US from Austria for the summer and several members here have offered to open their homes to them, even tho they have never met. Keep an eye on the calendar and try to make any meet and eats or events. As far as Hummingbirds offer, he has a mc lift made by a company that bolts to the bed of his truck and lifts the bike then moves it forward. and locks in place. Its a great setup. His wife can't ride long distance, so he loads the bike and pulls a camper to stay in. Hope to meet you someday at a Venturerider event-untill then- Ride safe and enjoy your new bike. Gil Oh and when you get it home, take some pic's and post. We all love pics. Edited May 12, 2011 by BuckShot

By the way where in Ohio is this "MD" event? Is there an address or name on the building i would look for. I would want to put two new tires on the bike. Would i have to order them ahead of time "ME880's" front and rear. Do i need to make an appointment with someone ahead of time? Where would i go to do this? See what i mean? FRUSTRATED! 1joeranger Posted May 12, 2011 Share #36 Posted May 12, 2011 Hello everyone, New here and excited about my purchase but confused.....I'm actually in the purchasing and transporting process at this time. I'm purchasing a 2007 Royal Star Venture in Ohio and trying to arrange to get it here to Florida. Confusing I might add. I have never done this before and I'm seeking suggestions if anyone has any. I'm excited about the bike but not about the process. Thanks ahead of time for your comments. Bought mine from a person in Ohio a few years back! I had planned to fly up, rent a car, pick up the bike, and return to Florida over a few days giving me a chance to familiarize myself with the bike! The seller insisted on picking me up, even thought it was a 2 hour ride to the airport! Great people in Ohio! Don't forget, Freebird's MD is 1st weekend in June. Fly up get your bike come to the MD and learn a lot while meeting some great people, and the rest of us to!!!

Sorry I had to choose between it and the Vogel meet this year, Vogel won. Yes order the tires in advance and have them shipped to Freebird's house. Once there, get out of the way:rotf:, 'cause the tires will get on you bike very quickly!!! As for the ME880s you might wanna do some reading here on the site. Most who have tried them will tell you to shy away from them on these heavy bikes! Others have had have had good luck.

Guest Posted May 12, 2011 Share #42 Posted May 12, 2011 Yes, reconsider your choice in tires. The Metzler 880 rear tire has not done well with this bike. I had 3 sets and lost chunks of rubber off of two of them. Many of us run the Avon Venom tires. I have run them for years except for the Metzler experiment era, which failed for me. Others run the Dunlop E3 tires.
GAWildKat Posted May 12, 2011 Share #43 Posted May 12, 2011 May I throw my 2 cents in? While I've only met one person from the forums (Hi Joe!) Hubby and I found the forums when we were looking for a 1st ever bike. We listened to the sage wisdom of everyone who chatted with us and eventually chose a Suzuki Volusia Intruder as a first bike. But when hubby is more comfortable on the bike he still has plans to get a Venture. We feel we came to the best site online to get help with a first purchase. Uturn Posted May 12, 2011 Share #45 Posted May 12, 2011 I will only run Avon on my bike now. In fact I just bought two earlier this month and Avon is offering a $25 rebate per tire. Take advantage of saving money. Just a thought. MIKE aka Uturn

I will send him a messeage so he can send you his address. Alot of people ship their tires or large acc. to his house ahead of time so they can be installed at MD. I forgot, there will be a dealer there this year bringing parts and acc.--thats an option for your tires. Message sent to Freebird.
