craigatcsi Posted May 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2010 While at a Rally this past weekend, a HD owner cranked up his radio. Oh my does that radio Rock!!! Would replacing the speakers in mine help any? Craigr
BuddyRich Posted May 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2010 You know those HD's are just a lot of noise....... :rotf: Couldn't help myself. Did he have the 6x9 speakers mounted to the front of the saddlebags ?
99silver Posted May 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 21, 2010 Might help sound clarity but not to much help on the volume. HD's have larger diameter speakers, our 4" can't push as much air. I upgraded mine to the Pioneer co-axle.
mrich12000 Posted May 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 21, 2010 600w amp in the side, Bose speakers in the fairing? I almost died when reading the caption. Then I saw the truth!! Harley's are slowwwwww:mugshot: compaired to the Venture!!:clap2:
Squidley Posted May 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 22, 2010 Unless you get larger speakers in the bike, you will not get any better sound out of our systems. H/D got it right and I agree their stereo system is fantastic!
Skid Posted May 22, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 22, 2010 .....and I agree their stereo system is fantastic! For the price, they should be.....

Chiro Posted May 24, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2010 Was the upgrade worth the money? I want more clarity with the volume around 22. I never play mine above 17 on the highway. How high will it go? I would think there is a lot of distortion at 22.
craigatcsi Posted May 24, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted May 24, 2010 I don't know how high the numbers go. 22 is about the highest I can go on mine before the distortion gets pretty bad. At 70 to 80mph, you have to know the song to be able to tell which song it is. I would like to have clear sound at that speed. craigr
MasterGuns Posted May 25, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 25, 2010 If I want fast I take the VR; if I want style, great sound and fantastic tunes, I take the Ultra. Everyone should have one of each.:mo money:
Little Bob Posted May 25, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 25, 2010 Just replaced my speakers with MTX's.Added base blockers. Mistake do not add bass blockers as there is no base now. Will taking them out this weekend. As far as the speakers go. Better sound more crisp. Will let you what they sound like without the base blockers. So I have a pair of stinger base blockers for sale $15 shipped to you. Used 1 week. screamstone Posted May 31, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 31, 2010 Ditto on bass blockers removing too much sound. I prefer to just adjust bass at the radio. Then I can get some back.
dragerman Posted May 31, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 31, 2010 I modified a set of Sanyo noise reduction headset speakers to fit in my 3/4 helmet and use ear buds for the 1/2 helmet... clear crisp sound and I don't have to crank the volume. Works for me!
screamstone Posted May 31, 2010 Share #14 Posted May 31, 2010 Yeah... I ride half helmet most of the time and just got the edsets adapters for the same reason! LOVE The earbuds, too. Can listen much quieter this way.
Jethroish Posted May 31, 2010 Share #15 Posted May 31, 2010 I want more clarity with the volume around 22. I guess I have not lost my hearing yet. I rarely go above 15 in the speakers, even on the interstate at 70 mph. If I have the headset on, it is usually at 12 or 13. What setting do you have on you Auto Volume (AV)? Monty Posted June 3, 2010 Share #17 Posted June 3, 2010 I still have the stock system with the Clarions, and I can leave the volume on 30, and not hear any distortion. Just ask those who were at B2dad's m&e. I rode in with Bob Seger up full blast.(don't ask them about my parking though) Of course, that is with my MP3 player. Radio is not as good. Alot of people tell me that I have a better system on my bike, than a lot of cars do.

H/D got it right and I agree their stereo system is fantastic! They have to do something to be able to hear the music over that terrible rattle-trap
