pegscraper Posted February 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2009 A few guys have done it. I think it looks pretty nice if you don't need the trunk. One guy in my city has done it. I've seen it in front of me and talked to the guy a bit. I don't have a picture of his though. I thought sure I had a picture of another one I had seen online a while back, but I can't find it. 07venture Posted February 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2009 I removed mine last summer for a while. I disconnected the cb and wiring (tucked wiring under rear seat) and removed the rack, trunk and antennas. I was suprised how heavy it was. The bike felt a lot lighter and handled different to me (Like a tour deluxe?) I liked the looks but missed the storage space, and the wife wouldn't ride on it without the backrest. bar836 Posted March 3, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 3, 2009 i have.......... gotta do something with the rear lighting (have the harley lights and the are big).
N3FOL Posted March 3, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2009 Hmmmm, not bad at all. The Venture does look sharp even without the Trunk. I do like the look even with the Harley rear lights. But, if you decide to get rid of it...I am interested to be the 2nd owner of your rear lights.
OutKast Posted March 3, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2009 A lot of the guys call these a "starglide". Type "starglide" into the search and find quite a few of them. I remember one even removed the rear seat and relocated the wiring under it.
magnum-pei Posted March 4, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted March 4, 2009 WOW,, that looks impressive. Different seat u used. CB is located under the trunk I gather?
GunnyButch Posted March 4, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2009 Removing the trunk is pretty simple if you haven't done it already. Remove both the seats and unplug the connectors under the rear seat, these go to rear speakers, intercom and CB. I don't remember about the radio antenna because I took that off years ago. Remove the 4 bolts in the bottom of the trunk and the whole thing, backrest armrests lift off in one piece. The rest is just the support framework. There is a forum somewhere called ultra star with a lot of HD type mods.

GunnyButch Posted March 5, 2009 Share #13 Posted March 5, 2009 That's the one I was talking about. When I did the trike conversion one of the guys on that forum bought my saddlebags. There are some pretty good looking mods on there.
PERM44 Posted March 7, 2009 Share #14 Posted March 7, 2009 I pulled mine off last year. Put the CB in the saddlebag. No longer riding 2up. Makes the bike feel a lot lighter. I have some pics in my gallery
