Fall colors are here. I was in the mountains today. Parsons,Davis, Canaan Valley, and Mt Storm WV. Grant County is changing fast. There is a massive Electric Wind Generator project building near the Mt Storm power plant. I have fond memories of the Red Baron riding through there with the Blue Beast. Those were the good ole days. Hey I need a ride soon. Today I was in a Ford.

Hey, with Hanna drawing a bead on the N.C. coast I was wondering if Gene was getting ready for the storm? I know it's a tropical storm, but the winds are still about 65mph. I was just wondering about him and Beer 24/7 since they are in the projected area of land fall. If anyone hears from them please let us know. And if anyone else is in that area let us know about them also.

And I got soaked. Almost home, tried to detour around the storm, but it exploded. On the south edge, heading south, I couldn't outrun it. Here's the route I planned: http://tinyurl.com/6bbwou I abandoned the route at Jay, and headed south to Locust Grove to miss the storm. As soon as I turned south, the heavens opened up. Lightning, rain, wind... I stopped to pitch all my pocket contents in the trunk and don my jacket. I resumed until I reached Locust Grove, then stopped for an early supper until the storm passed. After supper, I headed west until I saw more lightning ahead, then turned north at Inola, to get back to my original route. As I danced between raindrops on the final leg, I saw downed power lines. If I do this ride again, who's in?

Hey everyone, Well...the trip went as planned. Left kankakee illinois on sunday morning. Had a wonderful ride down to Batesville Miss. Shortly after we stopped, a torrential storm rolled through( couldn't see across the parking lot!). By Monday morning it was clear and sunny.....sooo...off we went. Stopped by Biloxi Miss. found the Air Force Base & apartment that we lived in during avionics school(not as nice now!) then visited a friend we haven't seen in 18 years!!!left the next morning,on our way to Pensicola beach and Gulf Breeze... we met up with Glen, a member on this board who gave us valuable local info as well as general good stories of travels and experiences. A very nice guy!! Glad we got to meet up with Glen!!!Stopped for the night in clearview Florida. Next day made it to Columbia South Carolina(hot as he..) 99 deg heat index at 5:00pm!! almost melted! Thursday was the BEST ride of the trip....North Carolina,Virginia & stopping to visit more military friends in Beckley Wesy Virginia...BEAUTIFUL scenery, absolutely breath-taking!!!Stayed there all day Friday. Left Beckly West Virginia on Saturday morning, came up on the south side of Indianapolis just AFTER the storm hit. I65 & rt 31 were closed due to flooding!! Had to re-route over to I74 And catch I65 in Indy. Took us 12 hours to get home Saturday...but we made it safe & sound. Thought you'd all like to know. We had a great time ...the bike was awsome(except for my tailbone) and the wife has already started planning next year's trip!!!! Thanks again to Glenn for the "tunnel info" and the Cokes!!
