  1. Just picked up my 86 last week and it would appear I have an issue already. I've put about 500km's on her since I picked her up and every now and then I get a wiff of antifreeze. This morning I spotted two 2" dia wet spots under the engine. Antifreeze. It's coming from the drain valve. I dried everything off and found a couple of interesting things. First according to the manuals there is a screw that holds the plug in place = not on mine. It appears as if the head has snapped off the screw. How does one get the plug out to inspect it? Second, if I turn the plug it simply goes all around as opposed to stopping in either the open or closed position. Is this normal...does this plug simply turn 360 degrees?? The manual says to align it with a mark either open or closed for purposes of draining the rad.....I can't seem to find a mark on the housing only a hole top dead centre...is that it? For the time being I have the plug turned so that it appears closed (same as the picture in the manual) and the leak has apparently stopped. Questions I suppose I'll have to drain everything and drill out the screw in order to remove the plug and probably replace the gasket which I suspect is the cause for the leak....am I on the right track here?? Any suggestions?? How big of a PITA is this going to be. Another totally unrelated question for anyone who responds....how do you remove the fuel filter?? There is some sort of bracket or something holding it in place. How do you get in there? Any help here would be good. Thanks Ed
  2. Well apparently it's the worst snow for 18 years - which means there's a generation of drivers who have never learnt to cope with it and a lot more who should know better. Either way school was closed so I didn't have to go in - and won't have to tomorrow either. So - my first snowman in donkeys years. And then someone knocked it over. Maybe another tomorrow ?
  3. a few weeks ago i started a thread saying my dealership had closed its doors and i had purchased a 3 year maintenance agreement with my bike.. after making about what seems like 100 phone calls i found out today my "tread head" has been transfered to another dealer a little further away but i still have the remainder of my contract.. great news for me
  4. Last night Ron and I were on route 50 riding through Seymour, Indiana. We stopped to put on our leather jackets and happened to see a Yamaha dealer. I bet Ron that there would not be any new RSV's in the show room. Boy was I wrong. There were two, one blue and black and one midnight. The place was closed, do not know the prices. It was Dan's Cycle. I tried to take photos through the window. He also has 3 Stratoliners. There also was this really sharp RSTD Trike. I am sorry the photos aren't any better. It was dark and I was shooting through the windows. Peggy
  5. Bought my wife a scorpion open face Exo 200 helmets in blue.. Wife wore it for about an hour and decided she wanted closed face again. So we went out and got the scorpion closed. Anyway,, any venture rider who whats the open can have it for 70 bucks del in the usa. Cost me 100 plus there is a extra light smoke visor that was 24 extra.. all yours. The blue is really close to the 07 venture but not a perfect match. jack
