Ok, here's how my story goes. I posted a while back about my coiil going bad. I checked the coild, the resistance was bad, bought another coil. After putting it on if croaked after only 50 miles. Got it back home and tested it, resistance off. Book said to check pickup coil. Best I could tell, I tested it and it was with in specs. Went trolling around on the delphi boards and from what I read, if a pickup coil goes bad, it goes all the way bad and the bike won't run anylonger. Same for the ECU, if it goes bad, it goes all the way bad and the bike won't run at all. My bike will run, it's just on 3 cyl. Would it be anyone elses opinion that that seems to rule out the pickup coil and ECU? I'm thinking I got a hold of a 1 in 50 OEM coil that was bad. I can't think of any other reason why only one coil would go bad. Any ideas??????????????

If it aint one thing its another! I think that murphy must have owned my bike at one time or another. Today I'm putting in a heavy duty clutch spring that I got from pcw, and decided to change the oil while I was at it. I been noticing a slight leak that has been steadily getting worse the last few weeks. A couple weeks ago it got bad enough to put a drip pan on the garage floor. So anyway, I pulled the filter cover off and took to cleaning it up. The oil filter cover has got a crack in it. I mean a piece fell off type crack. Anybody got one that will fit my 89?

Anyone have a coil go bad on them? I got some bad gas a week or so ago right after I sea foamed her. Erratic idle and ran like crap. Filled up with good gas and cleaned the carbs real good. Idle smoothed out, but when I get on it, or under load, it just doesn't feel like the power is what it was before. Oh yeah, changed the plugs too. I hit the cruise the other morning and got the 5 blink code on my cruise control lights. I have also been riding in quite a bit of rain with this Texas monsoon going on. Anyone have any ideas or have had the same problem?

Hi all, I have a 89VR1300. I've replaced the stator 3 times in 6 months. all 3 times I've found it fried. This last time it lasted for about 6 hr's. Does anyone have any idea what would keep causing these to burn out? I'm purchasing them from Rick's Motorsports Electric. I can't see getting 3 bad one's in a row from them. Their parts have always been reliable. Is there something else on the bike that could be causing this issue? Please help I'm baffeled at this point.

I've been chasing poor mileage on my 87 for the year I've owned it. GeorgeS has written more than once that holes in the slide diaphragms will cause poor mileage and are common at this age. I finally pulled one this morning and guess what - it's bad! (Almost looked as if they had never been removed before.) Several obvious cracks, light shines right through them. The slide itself, needle, and jet looked OK. They are SOOOO easy to pull on this bike that there was really no excuse to wait so long. What's weird is that the bike runs fine - no stumbles or hesitations, revs right up to redline, plugs are the appropriate color. Is this common, that they don't affect driveability, but hit the gas mileage? It seems like this problem would cause a lean condition, which isn't good for the engine but in some cases can actually HELP mileage... QUESTION: Are the coasting enrichener diaphragms also commonly disintegrated? One guy had that problem here recently - anyone else? What kind of problems will that cause? They are harder to get to...ughhh. COMMENT: Some have written, indeed I have done so myself, something like, "I watched the slides with air filter removed and engine running, and they all seem to be doing the same dance, so they are probably OK." I can tell you, this is NOT a valid test! In fact, just this morning, I repeated this "test" with a now-known bad diaphragm, and they still appear to dance the same. Maybe they are all cracked exactly the same. Jeremy

http://www.tlcproducts.com/servlet/Detail?no=121 Thinking about picking up this liner set for my saddlebags and trunk, because I'm getting ready to do some travelling for work and would like to take the bike. I've always figured these would come in super handy. Anyone used them, or know of a place to get a better deal on them? I didn't think $80+shipping seemed too bad.
