  1. Hey, Skid, that would be a fabulous trip. Please keep me posted. I still am flirting with Vogel. I might just be " sick " those days... Have to see how it plays out ...
  2. Can ya please tell me where and what type of plugs are you using?
  3. I learned about the cycle pump from a former VR member here who rides 24/7. It isn't cheap like the slime compressor which I did look at. But for the value, ease and peace of mind, it it worth it to me... Hey Iron Mike, where did you get your plugs? Are they the mushroom type?
  4. I carry a cycle pump for air compression and currently carry slime, but will swap for stop and go plugs at some point. The cool thing about the cycle pump is can be used through the lighter or through the battery tender. I tried both ways when filling up my bicycle tires. No issues. Comes in a nice compact sleeve and with the cycle pump air gauge, which was bought w pump as a set, it sits nice in L saddlebag.
  5. Lewis, Sadly I write to say I can not make it this time. Boss won't give me the times off needed. GRRRRRRRR! I was stoked, now bummed. Next year I will make the 7th annual and will partake in the festivities. Have fun all and ride safe. Barry
  6. Steve, I am sure once I know more, I will be paying it forward, no doubt. As for the muscle car place in punta gorda, anytime you wanna go, if I am not working, mill definitely ride there. I love me some RSV riding and muscle cars!!!
  7. No one ever mentioned any dealership with magical powers, so where that came from IDK. That said, hardriver, your opinion and knowledge is welcome. Being a bit harsh with your replies probably isn't.
  8. That stinks Steve!!! I am sure you'll be able to do your magic and all will be well.
  9. I already put him in for a medal, earlier Bobby and was accepted. At this point, Don may think I am Steve in disguise!!
  10. ONLY, ONLY...170,000 Mike? I have a mere 70k on BOTH bikes. About 35k on each and IDK if I can ever get to 170 with both bikes let alone RSV. That said, to answer the question, numerous people have reported and sold bikes well over 200k. The ride is exceptional. I am sure you'll have no issues with your machine.
  11. I am by no means a tire expert, but isn't the purpose of having a MC tire is due to the way they are built? They have a different shape, to allow gyroscopic type movement that keeps the bike upright in turns and twisties. Someone who knows more may chime in.
  12. Congrats on your ride and thanks for shaing your post. It's always refreshing and exhilarating when you can ride great roads without problems and think it doesn't get better than this. Thanks for sharing. Now post those pics!!
  13. Wanted to thank Steve for taking time from his day to come up to my neck of the woods with his CarbTune and performing and teaching me how to properly adjust my carbs. The process wasn't long but requires precision to not over/ under adjust. This guy rocks. He asks for nothing, is as helpful as all get out, rides across the state to share his knowledge and friendship. If anyone has not met or ridden with Steve, you need to make it a point to do so. Thanks again Steve and when ya can, some info on the waterproof / ice proof travel bag and the cooling vest please... Barry :thumbsup2:
  14. Was that below the belt Dan?? I apologize to Brown Sugar..... But not to you, for all your guff on 2nd gens... Lets call a truce. Both gens of RSV will always give us years of riding bliss...
  15. Interesting and unique info IronMike. Good tip.
  16. I also am enamored with the BMW and especially that model. Some of what was previously said steered me away. Top heavy and hard to deal with at slow speeds Rear end and ABS issues Fewer dealers Parts are NOT cheap. But make no mistake, its a beautiful machine... Like Squidley said,..something odd about trading a touring BMW for a HD sportster. That alone would raise a red flag for me, but that's me. ( and Squid)
  17. Harley ultras are a bit lower and easier to maneuver. That said, the venture is fine as long as you remember the things mentioned by Steve K. I am a shorter guy at 5'8 and the previous owner was shorter than me. It's lowered but more importantly is to ride the bike. Like our esteemed administrator once told me when I first joined...if you can't ride/ test ride it, don't buy it. Good luck and keep us updated. Barry
  18. When you look for the best looking bike, you inevitably always approach my 2003 RSV. I have to keep reminding you" no Dan, this is MY bike...
  19. Those antique plates are hard to miss Dan...they are either light blue or bright yellow plates. This is so you can find your bike in a parking lot easier....
  20. Vulcan or RSTD?....
  21. Motivated, sacrificing, loyal friend, father and son.
  22. I like it the old way which seems to be what I am seeing so far today
  23. I am trying to get there if the bosses let me off. Will have registration in hand if I am able to attend on Thursday...
  24. As of now I am a maybe, but closer to a yes if I can get the boss to green light my time off. Count me in but accept my apologies if I can not make it...
