well my new to me bike has a brake lite modulator on it. I think it makes a big difference cars seem to give me more room. The factory lamp still works also. Its a lot brighter than stock bulb.
well if you look down the carb bore. Can you see the needle sticking in there. if you can you can cut the body like they did in the pic. I smoothed off the cut more and found it was 1/4 inch past the base of tube. Two of them I never got loose but the other came loose with warm oil and time. Good luck
Im around also. looks like we got a few local friends on here. turtle we will have to get together. Find out who is a better b,s,er lol You guys need to go on rootbeer run nice area to ride. eusa1 has a great ride set up.
Also loosen up the idle screw see if that drops idle down. If the idle is set to high will not slow down once warmed up. temp makes a difference on mine
When you wiggle the throttle control is there free play before it moves carbs. If the cables are not set right it will not go back to idle by itself. You have to turn it back. It could be a frayed cable also. these have a push and a pull cable on throttle. The pilot jet is for idle circuit. Only works to around 2500 rpm aprox. On the left side just below the neck is a terminal box where the cables connect. If its like the 83s you should be able to see if there where they should be has reference marks on it.
I got 127 miles on mine and your right felt real good. Was supposed to go riding today also. But had to work on a fridge instead. Don't know anything about fridges just cleaned up under it and moved controls around and it started working. Wish I could have been riding.
you will just have to drive the miles out of it till your down to cheaper than renting it. Then your even. And got to enjoy your investment. I have my old bike down to 50cents a mile and I got all that enjoyment out of it. I don't know why I don't want to turn wrenches any more. but it is what it is. Enjoy make it yours. Looks good
well I think I need to do the same thing. want a lot of things still so going to have to part time it. maybe make enough to go to Arizona for a month next winter. lol
thanks for the replies. Think I will see if there leaking if not will wait till next winter to replace. will use a little rtv to seal cracks on valve cover gaskets. that's what I did with my 83 and I got buy with out the oil leak. will drive it this year and see if there are other things needed also. they don't look good so I am going to replace them next winter. HOPE winter is about over I have the itch bad. ps thanks again
well took off the bling today. The carb boots are cracked all over. Its bad enough I want to change them out. What does it take to get carbs off of these bikes its a 2001 venture. Also would like to change valve cover gaskets while there. Is there room to get them out. Any vender members sell these parts. Also how do you drain carbs like on the first gens they look totally different.
