  1. But who REALLY needs to SEE them poop their pants when you hit those horns???? Send'em to the ditches Gary!!!
  2. Clean or Dirty, Just travel safe Buddy. You guys have fun.... James
  3. Man, that is one beeuutifullllll bike. Congratulations!
  4. How many steps are needed and how high should each one be? Plus or minus an inch or two.... I do not have a first gen to measure but you have me thinking.... Maybe a vertical aluminum rail or two with one pivot attachment point to frame below seat with 1" square steps. The entire mechanism could fold out with kickstand next to bike when kickstand is put down and still not be too big and bulky to look like a ladder on the side of the bike... Hmmmm. Sliding up/down steps inside rails, two verticals. It would only need to be about 10" tall i think. Let me toss that around tonight. I will go look at my 2nd gen and look for possibilities Patent pending. Hahaha
  5. By the way... I was your 1000th visitor to your profile page! Whadddaaa I winnnnn Whaddaaa I Winnnnn??????:fingers crossed:
  6. It REALLY does not matter WHAT anyone rides. Just having the health TO ride is what makes it special. The younger kids will understand how important that is fore' too long... Congratulations! Really enjoyed your story... Inspiring.. Ride Safe,
  7. Shorter trips Longer trips > 150 miles = 35-37 mpg Over 40 mpg one time with carbs gone thru, seafoam, proper tire air pressure, etc.
  8. Man, Really glad you are ok! So many things could made it worse than you say. We noticed hundreds maybe thousands of bikes out this weekend. We can hear Route 66 from our place and I think there must have been an international HARDLEY ralley within 10 miles. Cant help but think like you, people dusting the bikes off for the first time of the season. Traveled 30 miles of Route 66 yesterday (4 times) and everyone that owns a bike was on the road. Be safe now and if you make it up this way, give us a shout. James
  9. Ok folks, Caveman has some great 1st Gen parts, for FREE!! Dig out your parts, clean the mancave, get some STUFF together you can pay forward and grab up his first Gen parts... Who needs 'em??? Let's go....:dancefool:
  10. Ok Caveman, It's all yours. PM me an address and I will get it mailed out! Thank You. It's up to Caveman now, and he will be posting a 1st Gen windshield and maybe some other goodies! to go with it! Thanks Eck, I really hope this ends up like I think it will.... Help this thread along people, who needs a 1st Gen windshield?????
  11. ok, if someone wants the 2nd gen slipstream, all you have to do is say so. Then you list your item in this thread as the next item free for taking. It could be a trailer, 1st gen parts, whatever you feel led to donate. As long as it is equal or greater value than what you receive. Sorry for the confusion, Ride Safe, James
  12. Stay with me here, I think you will want to be involved: Here's what I want to do. And I truly hope it ends up like I want it to.. I want to pay it forward to someone and make their day. I know you do to? I recently sent my stock windshield to "BOSSMAN" aka Larry, paid the shipping and ask nothing in return other than he pay it forward. (I am not saying that for a pat on the back, stay with me here). Today, Larry posted his short smoked windshield on the forum for free, paying it forward. And of course, "BARRYCUDA" got a great deal. NOW, This did my soul good, and my soul was needing some good today. SO, this is why I am here now, posting this ad. I got to thinking.... I would like to start a perpetual "pay it forward" as it were and see where it goes. There are going to be a few rules, of which I am sure no one will have a problem with. Rule #1. The person paying it forward must pay for shipping. (Yes, to Canada too) Rule #2. The person paying it forward must NOT charge for the item. Rule #3. The item listed by person paying it forward, must be equal to or preferably greater in price than the item received, I suggest links as I have shown below showing approximate value new. Rule #4. Listed items if used must be stated as so, with any blemishes or flaws. and finally, Rule #5. This "PAY IT FORWARD" IS VOLUNTARY and should be used to help someone that is WILLING to pay forward to another lucky member as an act of kindness, generosity and with a true spirit of giving. THE RECIPIENT MUST BE WILLING TO TIMELY PAY AN ITEM FORWARD. PERIOD After this pay it forward has run it's course, Here's where I would like the final and last pay it forward to end and everyone involved should understand this WILL be the final gift. (and I hope it's big) I will keep this post active for 2? months? I have not had the opportunity to meet Don (freebird) personally. I have PM'd him and communicated thru email, but I gotta tell ya, he must be something special to keep this nuthouse intact. The final gift will go to Don, for keeping my "facebook" aka VR.org active, and for the endlesss hours of work he puts into this site. So I know you guys and girls will get behind this, and I hope he ends up with a first gen? or new trailer? or maybe his own personal masseuse?, his house cleaned free after MD? It's up to you.. Thank you for reading and here is the first item being payed forward. 10 3/4" (my measurement) smoked Slipstreamer windshield, that I took off when bought baggershield. Only used a month, I cleaned it, packed it , it's ready to go. Has a couple little scuffs that are about at the dash level and will not notice. It's near perfect/new. It fits a 2nd GEN only. I have been blessed, now let's bless someone else.... http://www.motorcyclepartsareus.com/PROD/559256.html http://www.motorcyclewindshielddealer.com/products/Yamaha-XVZ-1300-Royal-Star-Venture-02-03-04-05-06-07-08-09-Slip-Streamer-10%22-Windshield.html
  13. Is there a place on the forum for donations in this case? If so, i need to donate and Don could probably retire.

  16. It just doesnt get much more ergonomic and smooth than the goldwings. Proven motors/tranny/drivetrain and gas mileage to boot. Tons of farckle and show chrome. You will just have to learn how to "ride by pushbutton". I am giving Honda 2 years for updates and 'Miles' 6 months of riding, to decide if I am going the F6B direction. Everyone should have all the farkle out for sale for them by then and 'Miles' will have 60k miles of roadtest/trials complete. Good Luck!
  17. Take the forum with you and check out the VR Members map for others in your area while riding. Might have some helpers on the road and make some new friends.. That's what it's there for.. just sayin.. Ride Safe friend, James
  18. Man, I really like the looks of that. Problem is, all you fellers are surfing ebay for one now and I got no chance!!! Did you add tire or was it on it?
  19. Thanks Rod, Forgot you had an extra! You da' man.
  20. Ok, here is the original Freebird post, after the initial discussion on developing a VR Members map. It is a sticky in the watering hole: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77256 Here is one of Don's (Freebird) comments taken from that post: "Basically "registered" are trial members. I've removed that one. If we use this the way I am envisioning it, it will primarily be our "assistance list". Only supporting members will have access to that information. Telephone numbers and etc." Another comment later by Don: When I go there, I see a map with all the pins on it. I can click on a pin and open up the balloon and can then click the members name to be taken directly to their profile. If you click on my balloon click my name to see my profile, there you will see all my VR Assistance stuff listed. Don's comments on supporting members only: Maybe I can figure out how to do that when people become supporting members. I have it set to only be accessible to supporting members due to the personal information included. Hope this helps, Now com'on people, fill that map! Ride Safe,:biker: James

  23. thank you for the heads up. I have not dealt with them. Is that the final word? Not getting you the correct parts?
  24. I might could put aside my WV Big12 differences for at least as long as it takes me to help you with about a 1/4 of that bottle!! And I dont drink:no-no-no: Either way, next time I am sequestered (Adjective (of a place) Isolated and hidden away: "a wild sequestered spot". to WV, I am looking you up. Be safe,
  25. Well,,, As a way to "deal" with the stress of my unfinished projects, I am now considering becoming a "instructur in de art o motocikle". April 7, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – A motorcycle instructor who was so drunk that she repeatedly fell off her bike during a lesson has been banned from driving for three years. Sandra Kenyon, 46, fell from her bike three times as a pupil from the Ridesafe Motorcycle School attempted to follow her through central Bradford. A court was told that soon after the start of last month’s lesson, Kenyon dropped her motorcycle and needed help to climb back on. She fell off again as she approached a set of traffic lights. Her pupil, Philip Hopkins, arrived at a roundabout to discover that he had lost sight of his instructor. Turning back he found Kenyon lying on the ground, surrounded by onlookers, complaining that her leg was hurting. When police officers arrived, they opened her motorcycle jacket and discovered two French brandy bottles. One was empty and the other was three-quarters full. Magistrates in Bingley were told that Kenyon had 131 microgrammes (mcg) of alcohol in 100ml of breath — almost four times the legal limit of 35mcg. The mother of two, from Hipperholme, West Yorkshire, who had worked for the Ridesafe school for nine years and was employed on a subcontractual basis, subsequently lost her job. Kenyon pleaded guilty to riding a motorcycle with excess alcohol. As well as being banned from driving, she was ordered to complete 200 hours of community work and given a two-year supervision order that includes alcohol rehabilitation treatment. (that'll make ya forget all about dim projects)
