OK so it looks like we will be there added my rsvp to the calendar. Lets ride.

There are several curves where photographers set up where you can pull over and let the faster riders by. I found it to have a nice rhythm to the curves a lot more so than the Arkansas Pig trail.

We may and try and make it if I get the bike fixed in time. You have a link for Lucilles. Vincent If you guys don't mind and Arkie

Went back to shop after I got over my spell of not getting to ride again. I did get fuel with petcock open this time Fuel pump still doing the one thud thing so I removed it again placed it on the floor board and pecked on it turn the key on nothing cycled the key a few times and it started running put it back on and nothing. So I think it is definitely the fuel pump. Now I'm thankful I wasn't out on my ride when it crapped out. Anyway Oreilly's has the 42s mr Gasket pump so I will pick up one in the morning. How are you guys installing and plumbing the Mr. Gasket pump?

We did the Gatlinburg thing a couple years ago never again will I go back there on a bike. Some locals got us out of town and rode us through Maggie Valley and a bit of the BR. When we go back Maggie Valley is where we will be staying. IMHO the Dragon is what you make of it we really enjoyed it and rode it at our skill level which would be pretty leisurely for a Lot of folks we also rode it during the week so traffic wasn't bad.

Maybe a month ago bike ran great. Today got it out to go on a ride to test out the latest mods V max gears and Rick Butler seat mod. these shouldn't have any bearing on the situation. So I backed it out of the shop turned on the key and pulled the choke as I always do and she fired right up and the RPM's came up as always with choke out. Got off to turn out the shop lights and came right back but before I could get there she started running rough Oh crap left the choke out pushed choke in and she died and wouldn't restart. So I think I flooded it walked away waiting for it to dry out came back later had to start it again with choke out and now that is the only way it will run. Pushed it back into shop and pulled the rear plugs and they looked good not nearly as wet as I was expecting. Dried them off and reinstalled and still the same thing. The minute you try and push choke in she dies. Then I think no clicking from fuel pump because carbs are full right. A few more attempts to start cause I really want to ride and more of the same. So I pull the side cover and check fuel pump and it just kinda thumps one time while I am holding it and turn key on. So I pull the pump out and lay it on the passenger floor board and turn key on and same thing one thud. I also opened the petcock with fuel pump disconnected and didn't get any fuel. Yes there is gas in the tank. Put it all back together and it still runs for awhile on full choke before it starts running rough again. So what gives I'm thinking fuel pumps out but didn't think they went completely out that quick. Fuel filter has been changed but maybe a year ago. Vincent

I would recommend the EBC Kevlar I don't have the part # but skydoc could hook you up with a set. I won't go back to using anything else on the rear brakes of a 2nd gen. they greatly reduce rear wheel lock up.

I stopped by and had Rick fix mine and the passenger seat then pick them up on the way back through. Also picked up a set of his saddle bag bolts and they work great. But unfortunately I have not had a chance to try out my seats yet other than sitting on them in the shop and going vroom vroom. But it was great to meet the famous BUTT man and we had a great chat!

The easiest way I have found to reinstall the drive shaft is to put the bike in gear that way you know your in instead of beside the U joint. Instead of trying to hold the whole rear end up and stab it I just pull off the drive shaft from the final drive. When removed you will see a spring sticking out of the final drive unit. I will then insert a large allen wrench into the hole on the drive shaft where the spring was and use the wrench to manipulate the drive shaft and have a better feel for the U joint. When it slips in and won't rotate with the bike in gear you got it. Then you can apply a little grease to those splines before you slip the final drive unit back on. -
Just get it warm to touch to soften glue " I have some mixing scrapers or paddles for Bondo that are plastic and soft that wont scratch the paint " It's not going to fall off with just a little heat so it's going to need some encouragement just work easy and you will get it.

Dang Earl hate to here that but your adjuster and his personal contractor sound like crooks. Think I would be making a phone call to your Ins. co. home office and let them know your next call will be to your Lawyer. I would think your ins. co. should have to deal with the other parties ins. co. -

One thing I have found out when it comes to driving a commercial vehicle and regulations is you can't get the same answer out of two people. I think each agency has there own interpretation of the law. Just sayin

So who was the member? Are they one of the writers for the mag. also?

Nice looking RSV on the cover of Ride Texas magazine. March 2013 issue. A lot of great information on Texas riding in this rag but kinda pricey IMHO.

I have oil in my coolant!
playboy replied to mbelik's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
A trick my truck mechanic uses when a oil cooler fails and fills the radiator full of oil. You have to realize were talking about a motor that holds 10 gallons of oil and just as much water you can only imagine the mess it makes. What he uses after the new oil cooler is installed is Cascade dish washing liquid the gel type for dishwashers. For a truck he uses a 2quart bottle poured in the radiator then fills with water. Start truck up and let it run till operating temperature is reached and then lets it run for about 15 mins or longer then he starts flushing. I would suspect a 1/2 a cup or so would be plenty in our bikes to help cleanup the oil. Then flush repeatedly till clear. Just be sure to let the bike warm up good and circulate the soap good before flushing. Hope this helps
