  1. Sounds about right!
  2. Is that a '09 or later VMAX (2nd gen)? I've only heard of that MPG on the first gen.
  3. Did they make a '99 with 28mm carb's? I thought they were all 32mm by then. What model is it? Venture or tour?
  4. Small tank, terrible MPG, but go fast NOW!
  5. I haven't felt the need for one on these bikes. I have more problem with the back end moving around in high speed corners. I suspect it's more of a tall profile tire problem than anything.
  6. I'd attempt this if that speedo wasn't so expensive, seeing as I already have a different one mounted there. It should look good.
  7. That will work. Just make sure you get paint off and down to plastic.
  8. I agree, but you don't want to use a train horn at a stoplight when you just want to get someone's attention. (heart attack anyone?) I made a 2 function switch on my Honda Sabre so I could use the stock or air horn whenever I wanted.
  9. The plugs at auto parts store typically don't last very long. Watch'em for cracks.
  10. Floorboards, those are pass
  11. I did not have a any noise when I took my covers off. Later, The Stratoliner rotors should work as I put the RS rotors on the statoliner wheel with no problems.
  12. How can rain get in at the place there is ALREADY a hole? I call BS. Opening the air box allows better airflow anyway. My bike proves it.
  13. HA HA
  14. One more tid-bit. Ever notice when cleaning a dirty K&N, it's only dirty on the end from the small opening in the housing on the end. I opened it up sideways with a diamond shape and now when I clean it, it shows the air is actually getting down the sides of the filter too and just not hitting the end of filter. I know, I know, some of you don't like opening the air box. I up'ed the slow jets one size too and she runs great this way.
  15. Never heard of 'em. Considering the problems you can have with new tires and tires such a safety item on a bike, I don't think I'd try one. Maybe my ignorance typing though.
  16. The best improvement in handling was when I put on a Stratoliner front wheel/tire. (18 vs 16" wheel and lower profile tire) On the hyway, I can comfortably ride with out touching the handlebars. Couldn't do that with the stock setup or any tire combo. Turns are much better all-around. Love it! I have the leveling links too but didn't notice as much improvement as the new wheel!
  17. How do you know if runs perfectly? You may have just got use to the way it runs. The housings can be removed, just use a universal joint or flex extension to get at the top bolt. EASY PEASY
  18. WHAT! I'm 53 and just getting started! You mean I only have a couple more years?
  19. Agree. I wouldn't get that one. Some people do put a Venture shaft drive on the VMAX to lower cruising RPM's. My friend did but he didn't care for it.
  20. With that engine, I'm not surprised.
  21. Of all the performance mods you can do to the 2nd gen (not that many) the Vmax swap is probably the most noticeable of them all. It does raise the RPM's at cruise speed so you'd have to make that call if it's worth it. I do seem to drive a little slower now on the highway, but love the rest.
  22. '13.8 billion years', much more believable! "available evidence suggests..." the kind that when they discover something new and they have to rethink what they've thought so far.............which happens fairly often. Man I'm getting cranky in my old age. Don't worry, I hate me too!
  23. Oh ya, I take it back. They WERE there 100 billion years ago. My bad.
  24. You may not have to plug the stud hole as mine was not drilled through. I had to heat it up to get out as it's in with some pretty good lock-tite.
