  1. Back in April I was coming back from East Tennessee and rode for about 6 hours in the pouring rain. My Frog Toggs kept. me nice and dry. I gave about $45 for mine.
  2. First of all, thank you for your responses. Where can I get the stainless steel braided line with the correct fittings on them. Next, what year did it change from MK1 to MK2?
  3. I have been trying to get the brakes on my '83 to the point that I feel safe riding it for quite some time now. I've read many posts about the brakes and understand that the brakes on this model are a know problem. I have not de-linked them yet. last night I decided to just concentrate on the front brake. I bleed it and feel that I have all the air out of the lines. But the brake lever still feels very spongy. I am thinking about disconnecting the anti-dive and see if it makes a difference. What are the pro's and con's to doing this?
  4. I want to thank everyone that helped me to solve my problem with my headlight. I re-soldered the circuit board in my dash panel and my headlight now works and I no longer have all those false warning indicators. You guys are awesome.
  5. Thank gdserlin, I'll let you all know what I find out.
  6. kic, Thank you so much. Let me check a few things out and if I find that it is the lighting unit, I will most certainly take you up on your offer.
  7. sgn, Thank you so much. That will be a great help. I do have intermittent problems on the display. This may solve all my problems.
  8. bongobobny, I have the skydoc fuse block installed but I will check the voltage. Thank you.
  9. Well, it looks like I have my work cut out for me. I guess I'll start pulling things off so I can get to all the wiring. There is nobody close to me to borrow a reserve lighting unit from so I'll just try to check it and go from there.
  10. Thank you for the replies. When I checked the battery I got 12.9 volts. I will take the cables off the batter and clean them real good. How do I get to the circuit board in the dash?
  11. The headlight on my '83 VR has quit working. I pulled the bulb out and checked it and it seemed to be ok. I bought a new one anyway and it doesn't work either. I checked the voltage at the plug. Using the green wire as the common; with switch on low beam I got 7 volts at the black wire and 4.25 volts at the yellow wire. With the switch on high beam I got 1.9 volts at the black wire and 1.8 volts at the yellow wire. I took the dimmer switch apart and sprayed contact cleaner on the switch. No change in voltage. All of the other lights work fine. Where should I go from here?
  12. Thank you KIC. Do you know how much to put in each tube?
  13. Can someone tell me how much oil is required in each fork on my '83? And what kind of oil do you recomend? I found a thread about forks with progressive springs, but mine has the stock springs.
  14. Thanks for the help. These are cheaper than PartShark.
  15. I need to replace the fork seals on my '83. I checked at PartShark and the price seemed a little high. I've also read on other posts that after market seals don't work very well because of the thinkness of the seal. Is there anyplace besides PartShark to buy OEM seals?
  16. Now that you mention that there is not pressure at the point, I realize silly my statement was. Of coarse there would not be pressure there.
  17. Thanks for the response. I was hopeing I could just use a standard hose but wasn't sure if I need something special to handle the presure. Thanks again:)
  18. I need to replace the brake line that goes from the rear resivour to the master cylinder. I need to know what kind of hose to use. Also the one that is on there now seems to be preformed to allow for the offset between the resivour and the master cylinder. What have others used in place of the OEM part.
  19. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each and everyone.
  20. Thank you very much. I'll give it a try. And thanks for the picture. It is very helpful.
  21. reddevilmedic Did you have to cut the mounting feet off of the pump to make it fit?
